DAVID PIZARRO JOINS INTER
Thursday, 14 July 2005 20:14:13
MILAN - FC Internazionale have completed the signing of David Marcelo Pizarro Cortes. The midfielder has signed a four-year contract today that keeps him at the club until 30 June 2009.
I know you people don't want seperate threads for each signing, but I think the new boys deserve them  .
Anyway I think so far he has been the best player that we have signed, although Solari has been the most crucial as he will hopefully finally solve the left wing crisis.

I think its very good you do it this way... some fans who usually join the forum before start reading the news could easily notice what just happened in inter lately... i always join the forum before site like channel4... we can always use this thread to discuss the player's progress.... :)
on pizarro... yes finally inter best recruit.... milan had jankulovski and juve already had kovac from beginning... okay they are the only players that i rate highly...

he could play right behind the forwards... or supporting single striker.... but can replace veron on central midfield...

I'd say its the other way around...every signing should get a separate thread I think. I feel this is better than the official signings thread.
good for us!
I wonder how Udine is planning to play in CL since they transferred quite a few top players

They've already signed a lot of players and I'm sure they'll use Inter's money wisely. They seem very saavy when it comes to transfers.

Realistically for this season Pizarro will be as Mancini called it 'a second Veron,' or basically Veron's substitute. But he will also be put into the team when others are injured I imagine. Despite Veron signing a two year contract this will be his last season with us and then Pizarro will permanently take over his role in the team.

i don't think pizarro would play in the usual flat 4-4-2... coz he and cambiasso are both short and it would be pain to see the midfielders like vieira and emerson taking advantage in the midfield using their height.... ;p

Cambiasso isn't all that short, but I know what you mean. Come to think of it though, Inter have had short central midfielders for a really long time now :D . Emre, Farinos, Davids, CZ....the list goes on.

This was a good move by Inter, by taking Pizarro they take the key player in Udinese (who did better than Inter last season). I heard the coach might try to experiment with both Veron and Pizarro ...?

How exactly did Udinese do better than Inter last year? Care to elaborate?

Serie A 2004/05. Considering the invesment of Inter and that of Udinese I would say the later got by far the best out of their resources. Inter had arguably the best strikers in Europe (Adriano, Vieri, Martins, Cruz y Recoba) and overall a massive team. We could only see the best of them around 2005, they also choked on the decisive moments (CHL. Quarters and the game against Milan). Udinese on the other hand reached their first Champions League taking the 4th spot with 62 pts beating their rivals for the spot Sampdoria.

Chileno is right to an extent. When looking at how much money was spent, Udinese did much better than Inter in terms of getting a return on their investment. They also exceeded expectations where as Inter perhaps failed to live up to theirs. The Udinese management is very crafty and they make smart decisions.

Fair enough Chileno, but the facts still say that we finished 3rd and won the Coppa Italia. However, with the resources that Udinese had available to them it is fair to say that they did achieve more than us  .

A welcome addition, finally we have a back-up to Veron. We were predictable last season when Veron was out injured. Now Mancini won't have to resort to 3 DMs ever again :D

Pizarro in love with Inter Sunday 17 July, 2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
David Pizarro is hoping to end his career at Inter just days after signing for the Italian giants.
The Chilean completed his move from Udinese on Thursday evening and has already been impressed with the set-up.
"I hope to end my playing days in this shirt," said the midfielder, who is widely rated as one of the best playmakers in Italian football.
"I joined this club after some long and difficult negotiations, I hope this is my last side in Italy and Europe."
Pizarro has been joined at the San Siro by Brescia left-back Pierre Wome after his impressive Serie A form last term.
"I’m very happy to be here," he declared. "I really didn’t expect to be given such an opportunity like this one and I want to take advantage of it.
"Inter are a great team and I will do all that I can with the aim of obtaining important objectives "

Yes, these are very nice words. He is fast becoming a favourite of mine. He is saying the right stuff and I am sure that he will also do the right stuff on the pitch as well as off it.

Inter is a great team, the last Chilean here set a high standard, hope Pizarro does just as well or better than Zamorano.
