View Full Version : Football Manager 2004 - Inter season 04/05
Believe it or not but a friend of mine gave me a copy of the Football Manager 2004 game, which is the continuation of Championship Manager. it works slow on my laptop by nevertheless tried it first time past weekend of course selecting Inter and signing up under my real name, age, citizenship...
just 6 mln euros were given for transfer, fans were unhappy at my appointment... that's quite a game and as in real 04-05 season I ended up quite far from Milan and Juventus and was a best team of the second part of the season. luckily they did not sack me! and yes my game considerably improved after signing up Cesar from Deportive and Marek Yankulovski as LB. They saved my ass.
Adriano is just great in this game he scored a bunch of goals and won best player on planet award! (see screenshot).
just curious if anyone plays this game and what you think of it? to me it's great but too detailed, you don't relax playing it you just get even more tired...

Yea I have this game. I got a new PC so have only just re-installed it, but it is great. I am not doing as well as usual though and Cordoba, Materazzi, Kily and Recoba are all unhappy and have lost faith in their manager's ability  . My squad is pretty awesome though, I can easily turn things around :smoking: . For some reason though I keep on losing away from home....in fact I am yet to win away from home :worried: .
Squad
Carini
Toldo
JZ
Ze Maria
Favalli
Dede
Chivu
Burdisso
Cordoba
Materazzi
Kily
Solari
Cambiasso
CZ
Veron
Pizarro
Stankovic
Recoba
Karagounis
Gilardino
Martins
Adriano
Cruz
I like to make it realistic by signing players that we are linked to  . I couldn't get Samuel though.

Yes, I definitely play it. You find the game stressful? Well, if you play it enough, (and trust me, I've played the game way tooooooo much) you sort of go on autopilot and can do things without thinking about them too much. All the decisions become routine. You can be watching television or talking on the phone or even studying or whatever and play at the same time without too much difficulty. The game is wonderful for procastination.
Personally, I think they make the game too easy and I don't play much anymore. Do you guys start off at Inter? I find its a lot more rewarding to begin in Serie C2 and work my way up and earn the job at Inter...you guys should try that.

Having fun with that editor?
yep, my squad was all unhappy about 15 players lost confidence and then somehow my board game me 30mln euros and I sold Stankovic for 40mln euros to Chealsea. this allowed huge reorganization my first team is
Toldo
Javier Z
Cesar
Bonera
Ashley Cole
Jankulovski
Veron
Van Bommel
Kily
Luque
Adriano
backups: Recoba, Davids, Burdisso, Cordoba, Emre, Vieri, Martins, VDM
Luque is pretty good! I am amazed with his scoring! Now I am leading Seria A but still under pressure manager...
Nope Ryan I did not try C1... I mean you need spend 4-5 seasons there hoping that a team like Inter will resign their manager...

well i love the Game i wanted a challange so i started at Wigan in Eng. championship i won promotion via play-off (i came 6th in last play-off spot !) now im 4th in premiership.
i have some big signings - Cavenaghi(14m pounds), bojinov(13m), O'Shea (5m) Mascherano(6m) and Downing (11M) (the high money is because Wigan is Rich but dont let you spend untill you get to premiership)
Yes it comes with the game but if your computer is slow, good luck.

Which is just my point...its too easy! My last season went so well that I'm embarrassed about it (I'll give you just a hint of what I mean: I had a +145 goal differential in La Liga with one game still to go). I guess the only way to play is probably to find people to play online with. I'm going to give that a try myself through the forums a SI.

Hehe, I didn't do that. I actually took over at all of the clubs and sold them for a reasonable price to Inter. I just wanted to make it realistic with some players that could be with us next season. Is there such a great crime in that? :( :silly:

that's true... in august... i think... if you are impatient like me... go and get japanese release... don't need to understand japanese imho.. coz most of the menu parts are already translated... and it is just hard to play with japanese comentator... but hey... english comentator are even worst.. i forgot their names ;)
international version of it usually come 3 months after the release... with a lot of bugs fixed... 3-4 times better than the original... like the we 8 they added some features like you could see player had bandage if you treated their injury or sth like that...

I'll assume you mean my goal differential? Hmm, well thats from the long term game I played for several months before finally getting tired of it recently. I started in Serie C2 with Belluno and was hired by a few other Italian teams before taking over at Real Madrid. I had lots of offensive firepower and a formation that utilized it well and the team routinely ran up the score a lot. Basically it just got really boring after a while so I stopped playing.
Here's the screenshot in case you're skeptical ;) :

Sorry if its small and hard to see.

Oh man, Winning Eleven (pro evolution) is freaking awesome. I don't have a ps2 though, but I play it on my friend's whenever I get a chance.

I wasn't skeptical at all, hell I was kinda hoping you'd let us know what the formation is. I'm still looking for something to get me into to the new format of the game since I was a very big fan of the old one. (CM3)

Always happy to share with fellow Inter fans:

Honestly, I was always a 4-4-2 guy until Zac took over at Inter, then I experimented with 3 man defenses, until I eventually got to this formation. Anyway, for this formation (I guess its a 3-5-2 or a 3-2-3-2 or a 3-2-2-1-2), its important to have mobile defenders and forwards with decent speed. Have the DMC's closing down constantly (thus they'll need good determination and work rate amongst other things). Turn on counterattack, since with the midfield already sitting further back, you're already set up to lure opposing teams in. Don't be afraid to push the defenders up just a tad too...better than having them sit back and get picked apart as there will be more spaces between the three of them than there would be with four. And obviously its designed to take advantage of a good playmaker as well. As for all the other options (mentality, tempo, etc.), it really depends on the individual players you have.

here is my team after 3 years in the ML (Toldo, Cech, Frey, Cordoba, Samuel, Alex, Kompany, Sorin, Jankluvisky, JZ, Mendy, CZ, Cambiasso, Kara, Olembe, Stanko, Van Der Vaart, Totti, Van Der Myed, Recoba, Adriano, Oba, Farfan, Utaka, C. Delgado, Davids) players like Jank., Mendy, Utaka, Van der vaart and specialy Farfan is getting stronger and leanring so quikly every year.. Farfan`s stats after taking care for 2 years is becoming like Henry! he has a great future in Inter! :D
