MILAN - FC Internazionale have completed the signing of Hernan Santiago Solari. The 28-year-old Argentine midfielder, who had a medical yesterday, signed a three-year contract today that keeps him at the club until 30 June 2008.

We have the players to solve the width crisis now and Solari is a very good player. Like you said though, the focus really is now fully on us getting Samuel and I hope the deal can be finalised.

I'm still worried for our right wing. Somedays ago you made a comparison of our right backs and left backs, and for our wings is something similar.

LW:
Kily: A gladiator, he fights a lot and send good crosses, he's returning to his best form.
Solari: Younger, faster, a great player and a true winger. Just what we needed.

RW:
Karagounis: Another gladiator, he played in the final part of the season and did very well. I hope he will have more chances.

Stankovic???: He is a good player but in my opinion he is better in the center. He is very different of Solari, maybe VDM will be a good option but it's almost sure he'll leave.

I would prefer to get a right wing and play Stankovic in the center, but as being one of Mancini's favorites I doubt he'll be a substitute of Veron. I wish he can adapt to the RW, if not, Karagounis must be given more chances. ;)

Then we'll be needing a back-up for Veron, how about Pizarro? http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/story?id=343334 The article mentions that Inter made the first steps to get him. Sorry, but it is in Spanish. :p

I thought the Solari transfer would never happen!! It's about time even though I've been waiting for 2 years :D He should give us more options going down the left now.

Pizarro doesn't sound the type to whine, I think he just wants to be part of a big club set-up. But his price is too high IMO. I don't think he's worth the 7-10 million dollars Udinese want.

Shouldn't this be under the "Official signings and set up formation 2005/2006" thread? Do you see my point now Giorgio about putting up sticky threads? they become very boring after awhile.

Yeah I agree to an extent. Just as long as we keep that 'transfers and rumours' thread.

I think Udinese might want even more than that. Then again though, we haven't actually spent any money on transfers yet...so why not cough it up if the player is quality. Can't expect to get them all for free. Just as long as there is money left over for the defense...

Moratti said that we gona spent lots of cash on 1 or 2 players.. so I expect something good.

I agree with you to a certain extent and I will begin discussions in the official signings and formation 2005/06 thread soon about this transfer. However, I think it is also important that we make seperate threads for each individual transfer, because if we don't it looks like we are slow and can't be bothered to report such information....just my views though.

I also think that maybe we could remove the official signings part of that sticky and just make it into 'Formation Set up 2005/06.'

Pizarro's agent has said that we are in pole position to sign him and I am pleased about this. He is a better version and a younger version of Veron. He can offer us a lot and I really hope we do sign him.

Ronaldo wants Inter, admits Solari Sunday 17 July, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Real Madrid ace Ronaldo would openly accept a return to Inter, says new Nerazzurri signing Santiago Solari.

The winger left the Spanish giants last week after receiving a glowing reference from the Brazilian forward.

"Ronaldo told me about the atmosphere here and said that I would fit in well," the Argentine stated. "He even added that he would happily return!"

This is not the first time that Ronaldo has been associated with a move back to Inter following his exit in 2002.

However, it seems highly unlikely that Ronaldo could re-sign this summer even if there has been talk of an Adriano-Ronaldo swap deal.

Meanwhile, Solari is confidently predicting success in the new campaign after the Italian giants kicked-off their pre-season.

"The players who were here last season and the new faces have adjusted to each other well," added the winger.

"We are all in line with the club’s project which is to win the Scudetto and the Champions’ League. We will give our all.

"Last term Inter played some spectacular football, it was great to watch. They also won the Coppa Italia but we must now move on to bigger objectives."

Solari admits that it has been relatively simple to settle in on the blue and black half of the San Siro.

"I already knew a lot of my new teammates," he explained. "I played with Julio Cruz at River Plate, while Esteban Cambiasso was with me at Real.

"I’ve also played in the national side with the other Argentines. I have quickly bonded with David Pizarro who is my roommate "

It seems like the new boys are settling in well. Solari and Pizarro have both said nice things about Inter. Oh and if Ronaldo wants to return I will welcome him here. He needs to issue an apology to the fans first of all though. But he could be lethal for us alongside Adriano.

Ronaldo made a big mistake when he left, but I'd still take him back. However, only if he promises to keep in shape...

Anyway, I just think it would probably be too difficult to arrange his return.

That would be a big mistake. Our 5th striker should be non-south-american such as Di-Vaio, Cassano, Vucinic or Gilardino. Think about the World Cup qualifications...

would the inter fans in italy accept him..... i would accept him back but would not be 100% happy even if he had good excuse and proper words to apologise.

i hope solari could become the most important part of the squad this season... we are always weak on the left for ages.... if he can become like cambiasso last season.. it would be nice
