View Full Version : Ronaldo is the PROBLEM

I may be out on a limb here, but I believe C. Ronaldo is a major problem to the notorious Rhythm of United.

It is one thing to get an exceptionally talented young player in and teach him: Alex Ferguson is best at this and has done it so many times over the years. However, I think C. Ronaldo's style is too self-centered and the forward momentum in the build-up gets truncated with him too frequently.

For instance, I noticed on many Saturdays many instances where CR would recieve the ball out on the flanks, turn and enter into a monotonous flurry of step-overs and get stuffed -- 7/8ths of the time. On certain occasions, when the camera turns to Keane or Rooney or Van, you can see them just stop in their tracks, their shoulders slump and in some cases you can see Scholes move back instead of forward.

They simply have no confidence when CR's head goes down. He needs to improve rapidly for United to regain their RHYTHM!

Ok. Let me have it ;-)

I wouldnt agree 100%.

His step overs, though spectacular to watch, do give away possesion at times. I dont know if 7 out of 8 is a correct statistic , but i'll take ur word for it. But then again, no player gets away with all the tackles he attempts. C Ronaldo should also improve his crossing. Its poor.

But his quick short passes exchange with rvn/scholes andkeane are good and his biggest + point IMO.

i think he should stay sometimes he holds on to the ball to long but generally it helps and his short range passing is amazing

I suggest moving him in as a supporting striker. He is always within a few meters of the box anyways.

Ronaldo reminds me of Giggs style in his earlier days.
His Dazzling skill stands out.

Ronaldo may be A SMALL problem, but i dont think he is THE Problem.

Cristiano Ronaldo has good skill on the ball and his short range passes are descent, but in my opinion I think he hasn't used his full skill to the best of his ability, what he needs to do first of all is improve his long range crosses.

What I mean is, if you watch Serie A, on the club Juventus, Cammoranesi is by far one of the best examples in the world in beautiful crosses, this guy crosses defenders effectively and passes the most effective crosses which turn into goals or at least shots on goal 90 percent of the time. If Cristiano Ronaldo can achieve the crosses that Cammoranesi has then I don't think Manchester United can replace him with anyone in the world.

I agree. I think that he may be a portion of the problem, but there are many other things causing Man U's difficulties. Like any player he has his best and worst aspects and brings them both to the club. All that we can do is hope that he uses his best aspects to the clubs advantage and that his faults and weaknesses are eventually made into strengths.

for sure overall helps the club way more than he brings them down

if him rooney and smith stay with man u they will be unstoppable upfront then rossi is coming along to

Becks

Smith is still fighting for that first squad position, however, unless Ruud gets hurt again, I don't see it happening. Even if Ruud does get hurt, I see Park or Saha moving in.

i think smith deserves a spot of park and him and saha are even he will be better tho

I think that United should sell Saha. He is too good to have talent wasted, yet doesn't fit with United.

That's interesting. I've said same about Beckham: he give ball you can do something with. How would you compare Cammoranesi crossed to these? (I haven't been watching Serie A much this year :-(.

(Re Beck's crosses...If I couldn't tell on the face of it, I'd know because as an old defender every time he wraps one in it makes my heart flutter a bit. They are so direct that they are very hard to defend unless you are a very confident marketr.)

CR isnt the problem. Yes hes young very talented . But look between last season and this 1 . How much has he improved. Man-U is looking for a truly seasoned world class mid-feilder like Ballack.

After the reserve team's win, and Eagles's AMAZING goal, I don't think United will have much to worry about.

I remember Beckham and his precise crosses, it was consistent or better yet/ obvious 2 years before he left manchester, but after that, not much significance. Camoranesi during the 2003/2004 season was the player i hated the most, very bad passing and very bad crossing. Very inconsistent to say the most. But during the 2004/2005 season (last season that is), he was one of the most consistent players. He, along with nedved,m gave awsome passes and crosses. He was in my opinion the most consistent player which is interesting in its own way. And the fact that he is one of the most or if not the most technical player with Juventus, makes his style or him comparable to Cristiano Ronaldos. But i believe Camoranesi is better as he is a harder worker, and just like the whole Juventus midfield, he works hard when turning back. Although Cristiano Ronaldo is faster, and certinaly younger. I personally don't like his character, but i have to admit that he does have talent. He has been playing with ManU only for like 1 season and a half if i am not mistaken, which is not enough for a player his age, on top of that he does not have much experience in that type of league. All in alli expect him to be a good player, but i think he has to get out of that constant dribbling mentality (which does lose the ball for ManU quite a lot) and focus on releasing the ball quicker and setting people up. Otherwise he will become like a Denilson, Ortega or maybe even get injured as a result

i dont agree100% either, back then he was amazing, but as the other team watched they figured out his like you know his skills and now when he does them he gets either loses the ball or gets stuck, what he needs to do is figure out a new stratgie like quickness and thinking like wayne rooney, but in my opion hes a good player but needs help :D

ummmm no...you cant compare rooney and ronaldo...they are COMPLETELY different people...rooney likes to take far out shots while ronaldo lieks to set them up...hes portuguese...rooney's english...their styles of play are way different which is a good combination on the field...thats why they make a good TEAM...

couldn't agree with you more.... i can see why fergie has faith in both of them... They create alot of problems and damage to the opposing teams. And with ruud upfront so deadly inside the box, he will definitely benefit from these 2 wonderkids.... My worries are just that who will be able to carry on Ruud's job when he leaves...

ronaldo needs to be a bit more direct at times i think.... he has a tendency to cut inside when he should really be heading for the by-line as much as possible and whipping in crosses.....

but i dont like it when a young player like ronaldo gets his natural instincts 'beaten' out of him so to speak.. i think he should be given some guidance but let him continue to do his tricks and he will learn in his own time what is most effective..... hes still VERY young dont forget....
