Penalty Kick Question...

Somebody please straighten this out for me, if you get tripped in the semi-circle at the top of the 18-box, is it, or is it not still considered a penalty kick?

THANK YOU! A ref gave a PK against my little cousin's City League team today, and they were undefeated, until today, in the last 10 minutes the ref gave a PK to a kid that really tripped OUTSIDE the arch, and LANDED inside of it, and he still called it a PK.

I was like WTF!

Yea, he basically didn't even KNOW what offsides was. But one of the linesman challenged him about the PK thing, and it ended up that main ref said it was a PK anyways.

It SUCKS when you know the only reason you're losing is because of the ref, we lost a game (that cost us Regional Championship) from a throw-in that went straight in the goal. And after looking it up, and a HUGE arguement from everybody on my team including fans and coach, I found out somebody has to touch it before it goes in.

You just reminded me of the funniest thing I've EVER seen...In an intense match between Silver Bluff and Pendleton (teams in my state) one of the players went over to the ref in the middle of the game, after the ref had given an bad freekick, went STRAIGHT over to the ref reached into his cleats and pulled out a yellow card and hung it over the ref's head.

It was hilarious, definately worth the red card that he got.
