Samuel Staying In Madrid

Walter ‘the Wall’ Samuel will remain at Real Madrid next season, according to the Merengues vice-president Emilio Butragegno.
“I heard a lot of transfer rumours while I was in Germany watching the Confederations Cup. But I told both Samuel and his agent that on the 8th of July he will leave for pre-season training camp with Real,” said ‘El Buitre’.

Samuel was reported as being on the verge of a one year loan move to Serie A giants Inter.

The Argentine defender joined Real last season after four great seasons at AS Roma, but failed to impress in his first year in la Liga.

Real reject Samuel departure Thursday 30 June, 2005

Real Madrid have looked to end the speculation linking Walter Samuel with a move to Internazionale.

The Argentine stopper is a summer target for the Nerazzurri but reports of a ‘done deal’ have been rubbished by the Spaniards.

"I have spoken to both Walter and his agent because there has been a lot of rubbish written recently," stated Vice-president Emilio Butragueno.

"He is currently on holiday and he’s not too happy about the situation but I have calmed him down.

"I have told him and his representative that he will be a part of the squad when we meet up again on July 8."

That news will be a massive blow for Inter fans who were hoping the central defender would arrive.

Real’s insistence that the South American will remain could now see the Italian club look elsewhere.

They may turn their attention to Roma stopper Cristian Chivu or Brazilian defender Luizao of Benfica.

I think that this is great news, he is a good tough CB and now that he has settled in Spain I think that he will be the best defender in the league next season plus CF know that he will kick the shit out of them every week.

Samuel should be an Inter player by Monday, his agent has said that the only thing missing now is the signature.

Inter Agree Deals For Samuel And Solari
7/3/2005 10:30:00 AM
Inter have reached agreement with Real Madrid over the signings of Walter Samuel and Santiago Solari.
Now it is up to the Argentine duo to agree terms with the nerazzurri.

Samuel would arrive on a one-year loan deal, costing Inter two million euros. They would also have the option to purchase the player at the end of the season for 18 million euros.

Solari, who has been close to joining Inter in the past, would arrive on a permanent deal, but like Samuel, must agree personal terms first.

GiorgioII, you must be happy now ? ;)

well unless we sign another superstar defender, then helegara would be starting then, and hopefully woodgate would come out of injury by then that lazy bum
