Robinho: I'll tell Santos I want Real Madrid move
tribalfootball.com - July 1, 2005
Santos star Robinho has declared he wants to play for Real Madrid next season.
After lifting the Confederations Cup on Wednesday with Brazil, Robinho now intends to fly home for crunch talks with Santos chiefs about the price-tag they have slapped on him.
"The moment has arrived to leave Santos," said Robinho. "I am going to return to Brazil and talk with the president of Santos.
"I hope that he understands my situation. My desire is to play for Real Madrid."
Along with Real, Arsenal and Juventus have also made offers for Robinho, who added: "Spain is the best place a Brazilian can play, the best players of the world are there, I know Vanderlei Luxemburgo (Real Madrid coach) and his work.
"In addition to that, also I am thinking about the security of my family."
Pele says 'let Robinho go'
Pele is resigned to his former club Santos losing 21-year-old striker Robinho - their most treasured possession.
Pele spent 17 years at Santos, resisting numerous offers to play in Europe, but said times have changed and that it was fair that Robinho (pictured) should be allowed to go to Europe.
Robinho, currently playing for Brazil at the Confederations Cup in Germany, has been the subject of daily speculation over his future since the end of last year.
Often compared to Pele because of his trickery and a physical resemblance, Robinho burst on to the scene when he helped Santos win their first Brazilian championship in 2002.
"I would like him to become a fixture at Santos, like I was," Pele told the Estado news agency in an interview in Germany.
"But that was a different era and, although there was already a big difference in terms of money, I was fine at Santos and thought the same could happen to him (but) I think it's fair for him to go and make his living out there."
"If a doctor wants, he can work until he's 80. But a player's career finishes at 38, or 40 at the most. And if he doesn't sort his life out, nobody will remember him later. A lot of ex-players are in difficulties and nobody's interested."
"It will be a shame, a great loss to Brazilian football," Pele added. "He's a nice lad, who has enormous charisma and has brought in new fans and not just to Santos. The whole of Brazil likes him."
Pele said he did not see any way Santos could keep Robinho.
"At the start of the year, president Marcelo Teixeira promised he would try to hold on to Robinho, that some businessmen would support the project, but it didn't move forward," he said. "I'm worried."
Santos also reached the 2003 Libertadores Cup final, losing to Argentina's Boca Juniors, and won the Brazilian championship again last year.
Their bid to win this year's Libertadores ended in bitterness, however, when they lost 5-2 on fellow Brazilians Atletico Paranaense in the quarter-finals after Robinho missed the second leg because he was at the Confederations Cup.

Santos agreed months ago. Teixeira is just losing time, now that both Robinho and Pele have spoken, Real Madrid is calm. Santos have all the responsability: will they sell the player now for about 20 million € or will they feed a rebel for two years until the player will leave for free?

Even is Robinho comes, that doesn't mean Real Madrid are necessarily going to play much better next season.
What we need in ADDITION to Robinho is a good defender and midfielder which clubs like Chelsea and Barca have already bought this summer.
We seriously can't just look at one player and think he is going to save us because the truth is Robinho is going to have a hard time in Spain with so many players that are ready to go to any extend to stop him(defenders), if you watched the Argentina - Brazil game final a few days ago, Robinho was entertaining but he was fouled alot, leaving him with only assists and then getting subbed. That is what will happen in spain.
So if the Real Madrid owners and managers don't think as smart as clubs like Barca and Chelsea who beef up their midfield and defense, then to be honest I'm afraid we won't do well next season.

thats why we have Garcia
Yeah, the news was just recieved today about Garcia and Diogo, bad timing on your comeback...lol. :D
But anyways, good news for Real Madrid although they could have had Del Horno if they had acted faster than Chelsea.
