Yeah Luka I was just havin some fun with ya too http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/smile.gif
How old are ya?
Ha, ha! I must say you guys really prove your age with your posts.
Well my problem is that I live in a village and my mother is a doctor (my dad doesn't live at me) and she can't take me. I can't compensate school and soccer, cause it would take 3 hours for a two-way ticket and training.
BTW: I'm 13!
BTW: My mother has NOTHING against soccer, she even plays it (how many of your do they?). The problem is transport.
Miha I bet you couldn't play soccer at my level at 13, if you would you'd play in a team in MLS, OK?

Oh man my mother plays soccer all the time. I have to drag her off the field. I've had to slap her around a couple of times because she wouldn't come back home. She always wanted to practice some more free kicks and i said "ma get your sorry arse back home you've got a family" http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Anyways Luka, we were just joking with ya, it's kind of funny to see someone say their mother won't let them do something, but since you're 13, it's different. http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/smile.gif
Luka, have you seen that commercial on "TV SALE" where they have a ball on the elastic rope? Like for tennis?
Buy that and kick it around for 5 years, then you'll get your driver's licence http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/wink.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Just kidding ya there, d http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/smile.gifd
You know what I'd do if I were you?
Luka: "Mooom, can I train football?"
Mum: "NO!"
Luka: "Mooooooom, can I train football?"
and so on and on for 6 months... http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
You'll crack her, believe me.
If she says: "You can't, cause we live too far away from the training field and we have a transport problem." YOU SAY:
"OK THEN, I'M MOVING TO MY FATHER'S PLACE!"
http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/wink.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/wink.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
That is the only thing I wouldn't do. I mean he lives in a place where they have a 3rd league team, but that doesn't count. And if it would take that, I'd rather stay at home and not train soccer, OK?
I wasn't saying you should move, I gave you a hint how to crack your mom http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/wink.gif
This is called BLUFFING http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Thanks seka, but I would NEVER say this.
P.S.Could you guys help me "crack" my mother?
With posts I think (I'll print them and show here).
Seka, you can post in Slovenian!
Naa, she'll say internet has a bad influence on you.
Tell you what: Ask some chick in school to write you love letters describing you as a great footballer http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif If your mom would hate that, then ask your telovadba teacher to say a good word for you when she comes to govorilne ure.
She never comes to govorilne ure? Make her, then. Buy a spray and write some grafitti over the school saying "I WANNA TRAIN FOOTBALL!" They'll give you an ukor and your mom will have to come to school. http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif That's a joke, BTW, I don't want to have your mom on my neck - she sounds like a muscle-woman http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/wink.gif
Well, if all else fails, I guess we could make post some nice things and mom will understand.
I think she's only worried that your grades in school would drop if you did that. Make a proposition, a "one-month try-out" period. If your grades remain good and you're happy training football, she'll let you do it in future as well.
Also, tell her that if you don't train anything and study only, you'll become a frustrated piflar and nobody likes piflarje. http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/wink.gif
But bottom line is that YOU MUST tell her (nicely) that this is your life's wish and you'd be very unhappy if she refuses to grant you that.
OK, this concludes our Friday's addition of "Seka Show". http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif (Sure sounds better than "Oprah Show" http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/wink.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif...)

Also, she's white, which isn't exactly a bonus when it comes to 100m sprint race. That says a lot about what she actually achieved. BRAVO!

Luka,
You are only 13, I feel like such an old fart. If you are as good as you say, show your mom the salaries of players like Owen, Ronaldo, etc... Then tell her when you become a professional you will buy her a new house and car. A typical Doctor in the US makes about $250,000 a year. That is the minimum wage for basekball, baseball, and football players. If that doesn't work study hard. BTW what position does your mom play. Does she have a hard shot. How are her ballhandling skills.
Hi all! Well my mum doesn't play at a team, just at my home ground etc.
She's pretty good for a woman.
Q for seka: Is it true if you study Bežigrad gimazija (seka knows what that is - international college) that YOU HAVE TO TRAIN A SPORT. Doesn't matter chess, soccer, basket....???
I'm a good pupil and I'm going for the best school in the country!
Thank you Black Hand! Wich is your favourite club?

Greece now have 7 Medals!

Congrats Chris!
Slovenia has 2 gold medals + 2 4th places!
Bezigrad has general and international programme. International gives you all-European recognized matura. That's if you want to study abroad after. But I don't think that's such an advantage, mostly that section exists because of foreign diplomats' kids, and they ain't that smart as our kids are.
I went to Gimnazija Kranj, despite that I'm from Škofja Loka where we have our own gimnazija (which is not that good, as mostly average A or even B students go there). In Law school, Bezigrad students generally do well, so I think it's a smart move to go there. I'd go there if I was a kid again, although I had 28 on matura from Kranj.
Bezigrad students are more urban, if you know what I mean. That has some positive sides (I like urban people, unlike seljake), the way of thinking is on higher level, more cosmopolitan. They aren't so one-sided or limited. But it also has it's down sides, they're pompous, especially to non-LJ kids and they make you arrogant. There's a lot of rich kids and they're short on life if you know what I mean.
Remember one thing: no gimnazija will take you through faks. The most important thing is to choose the right faks, not the right gimnazija. You can be an A-student in gimnazija and you'll fail in faks if it doesn't interest you. Law school hasn't got much to do with gimnazija course. Gimnazija is only one step to victory, a small one.
About training: there is a sports-gimnazija in Šiška, where all sportsmen go. I don't know whether Bezigrad international section demands of you to train sth, they probably want you to attent some extra-curriculum activities, which can be sports, computers, charity work, taborniki, music, etc. etc.
But I do know that Bezigrad is famous for their volleyball team, they play Šiška once a year and it's a traditional thing, big derby.
Every gimnazija has the same programme. It's the people who make the difference. While in some gimnazijas it is considered cool to have same šuse among pupils, others are of more competitive nature. I learned most from my schoolmates, who were smart kids mostly. We used to compete among ourselves, who's got the best general knowledge, etc. That was great. But, after the courses, they went home and study and I was left alone if I wanted to go for a beer... Sami piflarji. You see, everything is important, which makes you feel good.
Also consider asking somebody about gimnazija Poljane, I think it's very good and not as pompous as Bezigrad.
Don't go somewhere just because everybody says it's the best. If you train sports and you're good at it, every high school admits that and gives you some benefits (aswell as if you're a young researcher).

question to luka and seka:
does "gimnasija" mean highschool or university?
it looks like the greek word "gymnasio" which means upper grade school, at least that is what it means now.
the root of the word is "gymnos" which means naked (i know i'm gonna hear something about how wierd greeks are now http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/wink.gif )because a gymnasio used to be where people would do sports... and we all know greeks used to do sports naked http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/wink.gif
sorry for the long trivia story... http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Byzantium, gimnazija in Slovenia is high school. We have many different high schools, they're either 3 or 4 years course. A 3-year high school is there so you can achieve a professional title, such as automechanic, butcher, electrician, cook, etc. 4-year high schools are divided to professional (you become a technician, fields like economics, machines, electrotehnics, sales) and general = gimnazija. So, gimnazija is a high school that gives you general knowledge, it's top-level high school and you're practically nothing if you don't go to university later on, as you don't have a profession.
In order to enter the University, you have to finish "matura" (includes 5 all-round exams, basically everything you've learned) which you can only take in 4-year high schools. Univesities have limited places, Law school in Ljubljana for example has 300 places, so you have to finish top 300 (by matura points) among the applicants from all over Slovenia. If you don't, there are some extra spaces (I think it's 200), but they also are given out by matura score + you have to pay money each year you study (right now, it's about 1000-1500 USD, which isn't that much.)
So, gimnazija is to prepare you for good matura score and to teach you studying habits (failed here with me http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/wink.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif). Compared to American high schools, Slovenian gimanzijas are much harder as I know quite a lot Slovene pupils who went for a year in America for high school and they were all top-class there (said it was a joke) despite not knowing the language immediately.
Thank you for your long and nice explaination.
I'll consiver about the soccer thing, because It's kinda hard to study and train really good!
