Garcia deal agreed

30 Jun 2005 00:00

Real Madrid have struck a deal with Osasuna for midfielder Pablo Garcia who will move to the capital for a fee of four million euros.

The Pamplona outfit were reluctant to sell their talented Uruguayan star but the fee on offer was too good for them to turn down.

Garcia has been speaking to Madrid officials and will sign a four-year deal after he completes a medical on July 8.

As expected Garcia is delighted to be moving to the Bernabeu and said: "There are only a few minor details to be resolved. I am going to be very proud at having the chance of playing in the shirt of a fantastic team like Real Madrid.

"I am going to give absolutely my all for Real Madrid and I am going to be the same or even a better player than what has been seen at Osasuna."

It was reported that Real youngster Alvaro Mejia would head in the opposite direction as part of the deal, although that is not now the case and instead Fernandez Borja will be the player used as a make-weight in the move.
