Actually he already had retired as the Parma-Bologna play-off was his last game, however he is going to have one more year after a change in the rules....I think he has lost his touch a bit in the past year or two to be honest. A legend though.

What is so great about him? He's a bit overrated IMHO. He's just managed to make this brand out of himself and I sometimes feel it's more important to him than actual refereeing.

the man is a great refree, and always spot stuff, almost never makes mistakes like other refrees, and he surely isnt afriad of players, or acts like an idoit and give them a yellow card when they object to his decison, he simply explains to them, and he has always had a great relationship with all the super stars

Well he sure spots the "superstars" falling over every time. What he doesn't spot is that they do it on their own.

hey.. he's just above average referee.. and he's made his fair share of errors. Everyone does.

I'll probably pick anders frisk and markus merk over collina.

Part of the collina legend is due to his extra terrestrial looks.

i heard he is going to have a talk show of his own in Italian TV?? anybody heard this?

and Yea Frisk he was another great, damn Chelsea fans, but i still say Rijard(barca coach) was trying to bribe him, Barca has cheated so many times this season, that i wouldnt doubt it

i used to like him but after that milan match vs juventus when he didnt give 2 penalties for milan and when cannavaro kept pinching shevchenko and sheva kept telling him he ignored and cost us serie a for that i hate him he did it on purpose

I'm not saying he isn't good, he's the best in Italy, though that doesn't take much since Italian refs suck, but I don't think he's the best ref in the whole world. Maybe it's because I don't like this whole idea of saying someone is the best when it can't be measured in any way. Same thing with footballers. IMO you have to be pretty spectacular to be considered better than anyone else in your line of work and he just isn't all that. There are refs that are just as good if not better, they just don't make this spectacle of themselves. Collina makes plenty of questionable decisions as well, but no one except the fans of the team that suffers question them because he is "the best referee in the world".
Anyways, it was confirmed already that he'll continue for another year so no need to start building statues just yet.
