Spanish daily Marca is reporting Barcelona will attempt to snatch Ivan Helguera away from rivals Real Madrid at the end of next season.
Helguera’s contract with the Madrid giants expires in June 2006, and the Azulgrana management see him as the perfect fit for their central defence.

Juventus are also said to be on the trails of the Spain international.

We could take Puyol, in exchange

When Puyol was asked about signing Real, he said "This world goes very fast, anything can happen". LOL

I think helguera is not getting any younger so it wouldn't be that big of a blow, he is replaceable, if he wants to leave

First thing is he isn't even a CB, his natural position is a defensive midfielder, and it shows who Perez has ruined our defense. The real cracks began when Heirro left, plus we didn't win any titles since he left. Many would say he was too old, but players like pavon would have really benifited from his experience.

the defnse problems began when they got rid of Herrio but never replacing him, helegara is a great defender if he gets a good partner,
i find that he performed above average, (i wouldnt say his best) but he did do pretty good, its the fact that there was a poor performing midfield until they put raul as the play maker, then eveything started to fall into place, the ball actually left our half of the field most of the time,

Yea, You can always count your captain to help restore the team, and Luxemburgo obivously.
Don't you guys agree, fans who want players like Zidane to go because of their age, aren't true fans because they have dont know what these players mean to our club. Only true fans know what Madrid is really about.
Many think we are like Chelsea, but the difference is that our success gave us enough money to bring great players here, but in Chelsea's case the money, they were given allowed them to bring good players in. So I say they bought their sucess, we didn't

yea its easier to read, and i agree with u, but i think also think that Zindane is starting to lose it, i say he has like a year left in him as a super star, i love the guy, and figo too, but it comes a time in every player's carrer when he begins to lose it

Yea i know, but I still think he should be allowed to retire in Madrid and we should avoid the same problem we had with Hierro.

actually i think Zindane wants to retire back in france, but that Hierro issuse was disgusting, that is somethin i would always hold against Perez
