Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz has insisted that Cristiano Ronaldo is not on his way to Spain.
Barcelona are the latest side rumoured to be keen on the Portuguese winger, who is also known to interest Real Madrid coach Wanderley Luxemburgo.
Ronaldo is contracted to United until 2008, but the 20-year-old is thought to be unhappy with his current salary level and is looking for a major increase after two very good seasons in The Premiership.
The player's agent has further stoked the flames of speculation by stating a new deal was needed.
"It is important to recognise that Cristiano Ronaldo is now a world star," his agent Jorge Mendes is quoted as saying.
"If the club says he's a symbol of the future and an idol for the fans then they have to pay him accordingly."
However, Queiroz insists that United have no intention of letting players like Ronaldo leave Old Trafford.
"All the players in Manchester who are in our plans will not be leaving the club," said Queiroz.
"Ronaldo is fundamental because the project which we have for Manchester in the next few years needs players of his quality."
Queiroz insisted he had not heard anything of the rumours linking Ronaldo to Barca.
"I do not know anything other than Cristiano is a player of Manchester," he said.
"I think he will stay until the end of his contract. There are no reasons to speculate on his future."
