Even though we're already eliminated, we should have a thread anyway. Lets see how Greece does on Wednesday against Mexico , the best team in the division.
Greece-Japan 0-1 Brazil-Mexico 0-1 Mexico-Greece
Brazil-Greece 3-0 Mexico-Japan 2-1 Brazil-Japan
If I was Otto no starter plays. He puts in rookies and other players to see how they can play on National league. This is the reason I believed he should have called up Zikos.. To test him out in this type of game.

Even if we are eliminated for sure, we must win this game to leave Confederations cup in this way - or even just score a goal. It will be good for the team's morale.
OCFP, I agree that Zikos should be called. Stoltidis also. The team must be refrehsed also with players from the under21 team. Especially Mantzios, Leontiou and Samaras.

as i see it pethia greece is hurting due to injuries, and they dont have backups like brazil etc. remember 4 players are out and not 100% we cant expect much for the boys to go out there and win like last year.after the game with mexico, by september the team will be back on its feet. and i agree greece should win against mexico, but thats a big (should).

I dont think Greece should play for winning. They should more concentrate on renewing the team, testing the youngsters, etc. Also they are eliminated already anyway. This way they dont risk their aces to pick up a injury because they still have important WC qualification games to play!
At least we got a point. The ****in ball didn't wanna go in. almost 500 minutes played without scoring a goal.. and why is Vryza STILL PLAYING...

greece looked better despite that unlucky goal against them. which favoured there side. thats all they needed and otto finnaly saw what the team can do. and they played a good solid game. good luck in sept!!!! hey vryzas played good too.but we still need dellas back!!!

We showed some pride even though mexico was resting zinha and borgetti. unless we have some form reversal up front and take our chances otto will have no choice but to make serious changes, if he can afford to make s. changes with only 3 games left i dont think so. In all fairness we havent been at full strength and the conf cup would have been a good opportunity to experiment and work on alternatives, i dont think that happened. Im still confident we will make the WC because when it comes to the crunch the greeks can never be underestimated!!
I liked the Greek goalkeeper.

here in denmark they always say he is the biggest profile on the Greek team. yea yesterday he played very good indeed, but he usually does at least 1 ***kup during a game. ex. denmark's goal, ukraine's goal in kyiv etc...
oh... and Charisteas - drop him. the man only scored one goal in a year!!, and his a forward, at lest supposed to be. Vryzas also tend to miss too many chances
big up Zagorakis. Yesterday was one of the finest games for him. good game

I honestly think Nikopolidis is over-rated, sure he is good, sure he went from back up to Eleftheropoulos to National Team starter, but he makes alot of mistakes, and tends to over-achieve, hes good, but I don't think one of the best in the world.

Watch the euro highlights he is on of the best.. and he plays for ur team.. how could u call him over rated.

How about overrated??? He played great in Euro but has been poor in the WC qualifiers. Look at the goals he allowed in Ukraine, in Georgia, and at home against Denmark.

Greece played good yesterday, but AGAIN the luck was not with us (like that unforgetable fluke with Ukraine). Our national team played like a Greek 4th division team against Japan, but I believe we deserved a goal yesterday. Anyway all the team has to do now is focus on the 3 remaining games for the World cup qualifies.
As for Nikopolidis, he maybe does some silly mistakes sometimes, but there is no Greek goalkeeper who is better than him now. I believe Sifakis has a bright future and he will be a great goalkeeper soon, and the one who will take Nikopolidis' place.
There is no doubt that nikopolidis has pulled of some brilliant saves, but he does lack consistency, but some of the saves he has made others would have let in, so whats better consistency without brilliance or brilliance with the occcassional ***k up??
It would be nice to have the perfect balance but lets be real!!

a draw and 2 wins nonetheless. Now that hes getting coach my Olympiakos he will be a lot better... What do you except hes been a Vazelo for the past 10 yearss... J/K. hahaha
