View Full Version : My addiction...

I cannot stop buying boots. It is sad. I own every pair of Predator's Adidas manufactured, and recently bought Beckham's Dragon Boots...
I also bought Baby Becks a pair of Women's Mercurial. Anyone else have this addiction?

Yeah its a bad disease!

I think I have it too, but I definitely control it. Whenever I see a boot I like, I want to buy it so bad! But I pretty much restrict myself to only getting quality boots at bargain prices. Because there r times in the year when boots go cheap and there's also samples, which r awesome coz they're cheap and new designs.

I think the issue, is more of a fashion problem... because really, I dont think you buy them because you need them to play better

Becks
06-19-2005, 04:31 PM
No, of course not I can play just as well without them. It does tend to run a bit expensive at times, however, it's better than buying cocaine with my money, aye? :)

Dizzee that was great!

But yea, I do kinda have this addiction, though I had 4 pairs of cleats, I bought another pair, and want another pair.

I use to (when I was younger) I use to have ONE pair of cleats, and I was happy with them, and so on. Now I feel like I need them incase one pair gives out. I guess I just like trying boots until I find the one perfect boot.

Sadly, I have entered the habit of buying 2 pairs of each. 1 to use/play in and 1 to put on display.

There is not just one...There are many.
I only buy doubles of the ones I REALLY want.

SaberWolf
06-20-2005, 04:24 AM
I wanta get a NEW pair of Total 90 III's (the White ones) and maybe the F50's to try them out, and the World Cup's to try them too. I just want to try the lacing system of the F50's and the World Cup's look alot like my old (original) cleats, so thats why I want them.

Becks
06-20-2005, 04:33 AM
I prefer the Predators to the F50's...But if you are a defender, the F50's are better.

I love my T90s.

SaberWolf
06-20-2005, 04:55 AM
Yea, I'm more of an all-around player, so I like the boot that performs all-around for me, which so far the BEST has been the T90, and thats why I wanted the new color.

Becks
06-20-2005, 05:03 AM
T90....Vapors are nice as well. I stick with my Predators however.

SaberWolf
06-20-2005, 05:54 AM
I have yet to use my Vapors in a game, but can't wait to...I do like my Pulses in the game though.

Becks

Try them both, and see which feels better...Then buy 9 pairs of that boot!

hmmm...u rich bast##ds :D

wanna buy me some boots?

anyways, i guess it could be a problem, but i usually get rid of my boots before getting a new pair. i have quite a few soccer jerseys too. about 8.

right now, i have the original pulses, the umbro owens, and the t90s.
because the owens are the cheapest, i wear them to practise, the pulses are for special occasions, and the t90s i wear for matches.

so i am thinking about selling the pulses and buy a pair of vapors.

in reality, there is only a tiny difference noticed when i wear different boots.

Ahahahaahaha, 'special occasions', and you're calling them rich bastards! :ronaldo:
My system is 3 pairs. 2 for hard ground, Total 90s II and Copas and a pair of the total 90s III for Soft ground, but they dun seem 2 b gettin much use this yr.

And, yes I hafta say, I think Total 90s II are the perfect boots, dont know why Nike (de)evolved to the IIIs - tho, I gotta say they were soooo much more awesome when I first bought them, when they had that special grip coating - and I'm beginning to think that Copas might make my top boots list.

SaberWolf
06-20-2005, 06:06 PM
I don't see what everyone see's in the Copa's but I wanta try the World Cup for sure.

I basically go like this T90's for tricks (I don't know why but those studs help me get good grip when I'm rolling the ball for tricks and things) Vapors for good goalies and short fields, because I get a good shot with them and have a good outside of my foot too, Pulses/Pulsions, usually I wear these to practice and occasionally to a game, when I feel like them.

Usually I bring 3 pairs of cleats to every game though, and which one "feels" right is the one I wear.

i don't know about you guys and girls, but i have an addiction with buying soccer balls and jerseys. i think i could pretty much use a different ball every day of the week and not play with the same one for 2 weeks, but i only like my nike aerow, the other ones just don't feel very good.

some of mine are getting moldy i think... i don't know if its just that my basement is really damp or that the balls are just bad quality...

Becks

More than likely it is the buildup of moisture in the closed area. Meaning, your basement.

Oh we have a tradition at our school, we always steal atleast one ball from the other team, if we win its the game ball, if we lose its the practice. So far I have 10 soccer balls, and I love them all. I don't think I've ever BOUGHT a soccer ball odly enough, and only have one Jersey, Arsenal.

Back to Cleats:
Penalty what size cleats do you wear?

And honestly besides the F50's, World Cups, and the (new) T90's...I want the Umbro X's (or Umbro Elite X), Puma Cellerator's, and the Diadora Totti, those last 3 I know for SURE are a good performance boot for my style of play, but the other ones I'm not sure of just want to try them.

BTW, can anyone vowtch for the Re*** cleats? I loved their advertisement in the new Eurosport, but are their boots worth anything?

ahahahaha, great!!! I've always meant to get around to doing that!

Its funny you mention that, but I swear there is a whole etiquette when it comes to soccer balls. I mean, usually I wouldnt take anything, unless its from a big corporation. But soccer balls, now thats a different story, if I lose a ball, I know its my fault and like wise... ;)

SaberWolf
06-21-2005, 03:36 AM
Oh yea about me saying I only had one Jersey, I also have a AC Milan hat from the Italian (Foreign Exchange Student) that I'm getting next year. It looks pretty cool.

But Dizzee, its kinda like a sport now at our school, we're like alright who's gona get one today, then like say they're warming up, usually when they take shots at goals, eventually ones going to miss, so me and my friend (John) go the bathroom with our bag (our coach issues us matching bags) and we just pick the best looking one and put it in our bag and keep walking.

P.S. I usually just spend one pay check on a pair of cleats.

Becks, my story is very sad.

I have 1 pair of Nike Tiempos for 5 months, the one's I had before those were the Nike Total 90 II's which wore out very easily, but the new leather Tiempos that I have seem to be lasting a while.

For the next pair of boots that are in my mind are:

Adidas Predator Pulse's
OR
Nike Air Legends

I know alot about soccer boots but these 2 pairs seem to have me stuck between choosing only one. What do you think?

P.S.
How cna you afford all those boots you buy?

Becks
06-21-2005, 10:30 PM
The Air Legends are said to be wonderful boots, being endorsed by the likes of Ronaldinho. However, do not choose on endorsements.
For a midfield position, I would choose the Pulse's. For more of a striker, choose the Air Legend boots.

I play Centre mid but sometimes switch to striker, but I guess I'll go with the Pulses.

whats the diff between frim ground and soft ground? wouldn't everybody play on firm ground? cuz grass is pretty firm
SG- have less cleats but larger blades (like Magnesium tips)
FG- have more cleats but

(Also there is a HG [Hard Ground] which has the most cleats of all.

Firm (http://www.soccer.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=1&pcount=&Product_Id=182276&Key_id=&SearchQuery=FG#display8)
Soft (http://www.soccer.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=1&pcount=&Product_Id=130784&Key_id=&SearchQuery=SG#display0)
Hard (http://www.soccer.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=1&pcount=&Product_Id=130834&Key_id=&SearchQuery=HG#display0)

The less cleats you have basically means the more penetration you're going to need on the ground, like on a wet field you need to get deep down into the ground for a good grip, because the ground is wet (also known as soft).

Then firm is like the middle between soft and hard ground with a count of less than hard but more than soft, like a normal field.

Last you have Hard which is like a really dry field, where you don't need deep penetration just need lots of traction hence more cleats.

well i've been playing for about 4 and half years now.... I've had 3 pairs of boots during my entire carreer...
Nike Tiempo for the first year, then during WC 2002 got the T90II's, which I loved and used until last summer, went to england and got mania's on the cheap, like those quite alot....but i've also got the t90III's turf and man I'm going back to Nike I think...
I play Centre Back, and I tried vapors but i thought they were too thin if you're going in for crunching tackles...

Anyone here tried the f50's? And what's a good price to pay for them in the states because in England I saw them for like 100 quid and down in Argentina they were going for 133 dollars (400 pesos)

Becks

Pyn 21
06-26-2005, 05:23 AM
Definitly an obsession thing. I have three boots ranging from in good shape to crud; when I went to my sisters regionals, I ended up stopping by a soccer shop and buying a pair of the white/blue pulsions. Sadly up in Montana, we havent exactly had the best wheather to wear white cleats in, so I torchered my silver Pulsions(which have an insanely huge hole in the toe). But anywho...I find boots to almost be my second hobby :)
