Real Madrid could offer Manchester United £10million plus Michael Owen in exchange for Cristiano Ronaldo, according to Saturday's newspapers.
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has made no secret of his desire to see Owen link up with England colleague Wayne Rooney at Old Trafford following the Reds' goalscoring problems last season.
And Spanish giants Madrid - still looking their wounds following an early Champions League exit and Barcelona's La Liga title triumph - have made it equally clear they want to freshen up their midfield with Ronaldo.
Real sporting director Arrigo Sacchi said of the 20-year-old Portuguese winger: "The quality that he has and his age mean he would be welcome at any club in the world."
Real coach Wanderley Luxemburgo is just as big a fan, so has instructed Bernabeu bosses to tempt United with a carrot of a cash deal plus Owen, who failed to dislodge Brazil hitman Ronaldo and Spanish forward Raul from their regular first-team spots last season.
if this is true.........then bye bye Owen, i would love to have C.ronaldo. Dont get me wrong, Owen is a great player.....but C.ronaldo is just amazing...
Ronaldo, Robinho, and C.ronaldo playing for Real next year? wow just wow!!!!!!!

I doubt Sir Alex would let his "prodigy" go after the season he had. Out of the entire squad, Cristiano was able to shine above the rest. The fact that he has been called time and time again by Sir Alex "The future of United," leaves me to believe that this will not happen. Also, Owen has said that he is happy with the club and that he looks ahead to next season and improving upon that.

This is so not true, and it will never ever happen.
Alex Ferguson is basically in love with Ronaldo, he will never let him go, and 10 Million + Owen is definitely not enough, even for Cristiano.

I agree with Cheong. I'd much rather have an adapted Joaquin and spaniard than C. Ronaldo.
Plus Fergie has already said many times, Rooney, Ronaldo, and Fletcher were the future of United.

some future there that looks pretty dim to be, what is happening to the football world players are getting less creative and talented everyday, what ever happen to all the great guys like figo, RVN, Elber, Rivaldo, etc, it seems age or injury has gotten to them we need the new youngsters to be more like them, other wise the future of all football not Man U's alone, but the world maybe in jepordy from boredom

Ronaldo has said that he will sign a 5 year contract with Manchester United when he gets back from his vacation.
Owen has recently said that if he had to go back to the EPL, then he is ready, but, "I want Chelsea." So, Madrid is pitching Owen for Lampard.

Chelsea will not let Lampard go. That is why Madrid is also asking for 16m for Owen.

now if owen gone that will leave ronaldo, raul, portillo, and maybe robinho as the strikers

Guys you have to remember that if Robinho comes, it doesn't necessarily mean that a striker has to go because Robinho can easily play any attacking position if that may be a midfielder.
The managers of Real Madrid irritate me with their stupidity, because I remember when they had a chance to buy the now well known Argentinian Midfielder Juan Roman Riquelme but they passed on him for some reason. Juan Roman Riquelme if you saw him at the Brazil vs. Argentina game a few days ago you know that he is Argentinas best player currently and to win against Brazil with all those great players on it, Real sure missed a great chance to make the midfield unstoppable. Riquelme now plays with Villareal F.C.
Anyways I hope Sachi who is the new person in charge of buying Real Madrid players can come up with more good picks just like he did with Robinho.

either of them has to come..........joaquin is juz a winger~ he can go left right centre anywhere~ when theres space he'll do his magic...i noe beckham is on d right...so joaquin to the left....unless if Madrid wants to continue with carlos conquering the left with zidane...buy a central midfielder who can do magical passes n defending...i agree RaulMadrid 7 tat wonder boy robinho can play anywhere~ when we get him i think he covers that attacking position while graveson can play his freestly defending~ theres this gReek~ Gioukas Seitaradis~ hes a hot prospect~ get him mature him make him ready to take over salgado who is getting on years...and Sacchi...take this opportunity of 2 more yrs to find a replacement of Carlos...he'll leave soon...when he leaves...
d attacking of powerful speed work rate...tackles n blocking in def...will be lost.....

It is sad that Madrid put so much focus on strikers, but can never seem to play them all. The main ones so far are:
Ronaldo
Owen
Raul.
Now they want to add Ruud, Adriano, and Robinho... Their attack is not what killed the team's chances last season, it was the defence.
well they have woodgate and gravesen next season, and Real is being linked with a Uruguayan defender Diego Lugano.

Gravesen did not do much THIS season.
zidane

Makelele is who Gravesen is replacing, as a defensive midfielder.
While Makelele is getting on in the years and will be getting older and older, Gravesen is still relatively young, so we will still have a competent DM who will mature and get better, as he stays at Real.
Alot is riding on Woodgate's shoulders, but I think he will do fine as the pacey defender paired beside whoever (Samuel/Helguera/Pavon/New Signing)

To sum everything up if they go as planned... in my opinion here is the strongest line up we could have next season.
(Solid line-up)
---------------------Ronaldo-----Robinho---------------------
-------Joaquin-------Graveson-----Zidane-----------Beckham--
---Roberto Carlos-----Helguera----Samuel-------Salgado--------
----------------------------Casillas-----------------------------
(more offensive)
----------------------Ronaldo----Owen------------------------
---------------------------Robinho-----------------------------
-------------Joaquin-------Zidane----------Graveson------------
---Roberto Carlos-----Helguera----Samuel-------Salgado--------
----------------------------Casillas-----------------------------
What do you guys think?
Joaquin can't play on the left side for begining :)

sorry but those are two carppy line ups,
penguin_007
06-20-2005, 09:14 AM
i think that because many teams know the emphasis real madrid places on attacking players, they will try to catch us on the counter attack, when our defence is the weakeast.
---------------ronaldo
-------------------------owen
-------------zidane
--------------------------------beckham
--------------------gravesen
-----RCarlos
-----------woodgate------helguera--salgado
---------------------samuel
-------------------casillas
so we have a strong defense, we have 6 players staying back, no team in their right mind is gonna stage a full attack against this defense. because in order for them to beat it, they have only a few defenders staying back, and they cant do that, because we have ronaldo, owen, and zidane, and becks up there.
since they cant beat our defense, we can put our superior attackers to good use.

sorry for being so protective...y r u all getting rid of RAUL in d line ups....
not say hes not gd...he need chance to score...but hes got no chance...look at those he scored escecially d previous 2 tis season...hes last 2 goals in a match...hes accuracy n placing of finishing is so fantastic...he is juz being man marked bcoz he is too gd...just let him play n influence d team...let him go all d way n try to score lk juz how he did....i know...he said he is comfortable in d current line up bcoz of wat...he is the captain..if he sae he wans to play up front will they forfeit ronaldo...end up he'll not play...i'm very sorry....i feel tat Raul is a very important player...just that he needs to change his style of playing...3 yrs of dominations he did...3 yrs of research on how to man mark him...tats y he cant play well now...
