Hi guys!
A quick one....do Greece automatically qualify for Euro 2008?
Or have the rules changed?!

The rule have changed. As things are now, Greece will play qualifies for Euro 2008. I heard the Hellenic football federation will make a request for not playing qualifies, but the most possible is that we will.
This is very frustrating! I mean, just today Liverpool got given a chance to get into Champions League to defend their title even though they did not qualify!

But not directly, they have to start from the 1st round.
Liverpool finished 3rd in england they do qualify. We will fall in an easier group this time since we have more points. We will be in the first pot for the first time ever.

Liverpool finished 5th in England.
Liverpool were technically not in any position to even qualify for a Champion's League place and yet today they were given the chance.
If Greece don't qualify for the Euro 2008 they should be given a chance to defend their title.
Isn't that fair?

Yeah man, who told you Liverpool finished 3rd in England? :D The reason of that argument was because they finished 5th and any country can not send more then 4 teams but now the rule has been changed with this. So if the team is the cup holder and finished less then 4th in their league, they'll start from the 1st round. I think its fair to everybody...

Well, you'll be defending your title. Thats what given to Liverpool too and thats what Greece has...
The only reason I say this is because I don't think Greece are going to make it to the World Cup.

I'm a bit depressed as I was in Portugal when they won!

I dont think you should be depressed that much because you still have a chance of qualifying. We have only 1 point between us and we still have to play with Ukraine and Denmark.

Nothing is ever over dude. If Ukraine loses all 3 games they dont even qualify. Everything is possible.

As much as I'd want that to happen it's doubtful. We must win our remaining 3 qualifiers and hope that Denmark beat turkey and we beat denmark. Then we'll be playing a barrage against another 2nd place team in Europe. The road is a difficult one to get through because we don't fully control our own destiny anymore.

ITS doubtful but never impossible. You never now things will be clearer after the next 2 matches are over.

well, normaly, nobody should ever have to hope on anothers so they can advance. we should all control our own fate, but it seems Greece's disapointing loss to Ukraine forces us to depend on others for our qualification.
since we are third, we have to hope Turkey loses and we win. it's our only hope of advancing. because if Turkey wins it's 3 remaining matches, then all is lost. even if we beat Kazakhstan, Denmark and Georgia.
it's not something i enjoy, but it's all we have now.
if Ukraine win against Georgia, they automaticaly advance to Germany 2006. so all we hope for is Ukraine and Denmark give Turkey a hard time so we can go through. but we have to win all 3 of our games NO MATTER WHAT!!! no draws allowed!!!
