What's the difference between the Vapors and the Vapor II's?

Sorry, I don't know, but I would get the ll's because even though you don't know what the difference is, they still are more updated.

P.S. -- I have the Mercurial Vapor ll's in Burnt Orange :D

yea, how do you like 'em?

i play with copa's now, but am thinking of getting some vapors.
i'm pretty small. about 5'6'' and i'm light, about 130 pounds when i'm in shape.

thinking about getting the vapors, and not the II's unless there's a good enough reason to. extra hundred bucks? i say wtf.

Why don't you people stop wasting 200 dollars on crappy plastic shoes that Ronaldo wears showing off that you will be fast like him.

Well the sad truth is, if I have to make you cry, you won't be as fast as Ronaldo so go buy a pair of boots like the adidas predators that are comfortable and very high in performance.

lol... And if you still wanna buy Nike, I prefer the Legends(the one's Ronaldinho wears for you wannabes out there :silly: )

smithxi
06-05-2005, 02:21 AM
wow thanks raul.

i agree with you that nike is pure shit.

BUT. 7oz. I had to give them a try, AND...

the light weight is definitely a turn on. Like i said. I'm small and light. A light boot suits me nicely in some ways. faster running. If we wanna get technical let's get technical. truth is they're uncomfortable, therefor if the boots don't feel comfortable tomorrow when i try the right size, then i'm done with em. no go. i'll just get the world cups.

my friend told me they do break in too though. although they're that plastic stuff, they do form to the foot.

my next pair will definitely be mecurial vapors...for special occasions of course. :D

but seriously, i just found out that they have vapors in kangaroo leather, wow.

so whats nike skin?
should i get k-leather?
i think the leather vapors should be much more comfortable than the regular ones. eh

thx

smithxi
06-05-2005, 05:26 AM
i'm sure the leather is more comfortable, but youre gaining weight and losing the benefit of the lighter weight.

how much weight? i'm not sure, but more.

i have a new goal to get myself as light as possible, and as fit as possible.

i really think these vapors are a better choice over the world cups.

your thoughts?

and for the record i guess the only difference between the vapors and the vapor 2's is a thin stripe and the color. WOW.

You must have never tried Nike Total 90's III, they're some of the best feeling, shoes I've ever had.

But I got a pair of Mercurial Vapors, and they hurt like bitch the first two weeks, until I broke them in. But once I got them broken in, they were great, light-weight, great grip, and I'm not saying they made me fast...I was already the fastest guy on my team, I'm saying that they DID help me harness my speed, and it felt like I was running with no shoes on at all.

smithxi
06-05-2005, 05:50 AM
i have tried the total 90's, and i like 'em.

the only reason i say this is because people bitch about nike so much.
"it's not wide enough for my foot..."

nike is under-rated

BUT

to me it seems like every year they try to change up their scheme to con people into buying the new thing.

this year it just happened to be the nike "plastic" shoes.

the only reason i'm going to buy these vapors 2's over the worlcups is because...

extremely light,
they're my SG cleats,
they don't retain as much water,
i'll be able to stop and go quicker.
i'm small,
and i feel like giving nike a try again.

i just want to be absolutely positive i get the right size, and as i've asked before

"WILL THE VAPORS STRETCH??????????"

AND THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR NOT RESPONDING!!!

SaberWolf

I do agree that Nike is under-rated, but think about it man...ALL companies change up their scheme but not to con you, its marketing. Look at Adidas Predators, they change the color every 4 or 5 months and make thousands if not millions.

And its not a like they're charging any MORE for just these different colors, they charge more/less for the Firm Ground, Soft Ground, Hard Ground (FG, SG, ect).

smithxi
06-05-2005, 06:06 AM
but nike is charging more. plus nike needs to focus on a few shoes like adidas, AND keep them around a while. adidas focus's on one shoe and sticks with it, for the long haul. nike releases so many shoes, it's hard to keep track of em. i say hey, make the total 90's 7oz and everyone will buy em, cause then they'll be the ideal shoe.

as for the predators, appearance is huge for me, and i think they're ugly.

i'm not digging these strap around the tounge shoes that go around the bottom. not workin' for me.

...try to catch me in those vapors though.

i'll be gone... ~

I like the tongue-holders, they give me a good connetion on the ball.

smithxi
06-05-2005, 06:29 AM
i'll admit they're nice.

nicer than the vapors. i just don't want to spend $200, and i want something really light.

adidas is great, i know.

smithxi
06-05-2005, 06:30 AM
does adidas have any plans to make a shoe to compete with the vapors?

SaberWolf
06-05-2005, 06:40 AM
$200? Hell no, I payed $80 for mine...And I've heard of something of a new light-weight shoe, but they're working on the comfort issue, along with durability...So it might be a while.

smithxi

any pics, ideas, dates?

how long do i have to wait basically?

yo saber...u said ur vapors hurt like hell until u broke them in...

how did u do that? arent vapors plastic?

SaberWolf
06-06-2005, 04:04 AM
I've heard if you run over them with a vehicle or something, but I just put them under my matress, and slept on them for awhile.

I also washed them a few times (but I'm not sure if that helped).

smithxi
06-06-2005, 07:08 AM
i went to the soccer store today and the guy told me all about them.

the 180 dollar vapors are made of nike skin. a mix of different substances (including glass) to make up this grippy plastic like synthetic material. the soft ground cleats are 7 ounces, the firm grounds are 7.1 ounces, and the kangaroos are 7.6 ounces.

he also told me the vapor 1 was garbage because nike made the heel of the shoe all wrong, and some players were even getting hurt! the vapor 2 corrected that problem, and the only obligation left is the price.

as for stretching. the shoe does not actually stretch, but the material will allow to form around your foot. in my own words the shoe will stretch a quarter of a size, or moreless take shape of my foot. i'm going to buy the 7.5's. they're tight, but i like my shoes tight, and i can almost feel that little bit i need it to stretch.

holla~

awesome!!! im gonna get the vapors next year! which means i have to sell my umbro michael owen 10s to my friend, and see if to do the same with the pulses.

so hmmm....kangaroo leather or nike skin? i guess 0.5 ounces isnt gonna matter that much...

smithxi
06-06-2005, 07:44 AM
i say nike skin. because leather holds a lot of water. which is more weight. nike's material doesn't hold much water (they claim) and it dries quickly.

i wish adidas would make a vapor like shoe...

:fed-up: :mad2:

Get Nikeskin. It is easily washable. (except that they scuff easily) Plus, you'd ruin the originality of the Vapors if you got the k-leather ones cuz Nike made the Nikeskin JUST for the Vapors. No other shoe I beleive uses it and a bunch use k-leather.

penguin_007
06-07-2005, 02:31 AM
hmmm...nike skin, thanks guys.
the only reason i wanted kangaroo skin is cause in all my past experience, leather feels much better than plastic.

smithxi
06-07-2005, 03:10 AM
it's not plastic. go to soccer.com and read the specs on the vapor 2.

a kid told me that they're a bear to break in (about two weeks) but once they are they're nice as pie.

SaberWolf
06-07-2005, 03:18 AM
Say 5 US Nickels weight about 1 ounce, so go figure that.

I don't have a problem with either Plastic, or anything like that, when you put on your socks and things you can't feel them.

my vapors ripped the crap outta my feet. They also fell apart after about a season which i wasnt to happy about. I will never buy another nike cleat ever again.

smithxi
06-16-2005, 04:50 PM
next time get the world cups. you could say i'm a satisfied customer. (once they get broken in)

yea the vapors where good once i broke them in but it took too long. they fell apart a couple of weeks after that. i had to super glue them to play in state. and then i thought to myself, what a waste of $160

smithxi
06-18-2005, 05:11 AM
throughout my trials and tribulations with soccer gear i have learned one thing...

Adidas

simple as that.

Except balls. I like the Brine Championship ball because it's NCAA certified. I only wish Adidas would release a lightweight shoe. Maybe they won't because they know it will fall apart. Still I'd like to try the Vapor II's. They're $95 online now.
