View Full Version : Figo going to Liverpool?

Luis Figo is on the verge of joining Liverpool as talks between the player and club have reached an advanced stage.
The Portuguese international could become the second Real Madrid player to leave Spain for Anfield this year after Fernando Morientes made the move in January.
Figo was the leader of Portugal's 'Golden Generation' and won a FIFA World Youth Championship medal in 1991. He also made his full debut that year against Luxembourg.
He retired from international football after Portugal were defeated by Greece in the EURO2004 final. He had won 110 caps and scored 31 goals during his international career.
Figo left his native Portugal in 1995 and moved to Barcelona for a reported fee of just over 4 million. He spent five wonderful years at the Camp Nou winning two Primera Liga titles and the European Cup Winners Cup.
In an extremely controversial move in 2000, Figo joined arch rivals Real Madrid for a then world record fee of 37 million. The massive fee appeared justified as Madrid and Figo went on to win another two league titles and the Champions League. Figo himself also won the FIFA World Footballer of the Year in 2001.
He has an impressive list of honours to his name including four La Primera titles, Champions League, Intercontinental Cup, two Spanish Cups, three Spanish Super Cups, European Cup Winners Cup and two European Super Cup winners medals. As well as his FIFA World Footballer of the Year title in 2001 he had been named European Footballer of the Year the year before.
He can speak four languages including English and is married with one daughter. A move to Merseyside would raise a few eyebrows in the Premiership and would certainly cause a buzz of excitement amongst the Anfield faithful.
sorry for double post lol

dont worry it happens
and i dont understand why liverpool would want figo, i mean yea he is a great player, but they did someone who can run the whole 90mins, but on the other hand this could bring a great counter attacking opportunity to them, as their main play is throught he centre or through gerrad, lol, it can be a very good change of pace during the game to sometimes switch to the wing and still have gerrad in the centre, yea as i think about this more it might just work

Let's just hope he doesn't leave and that he plays more next season, but probably he'll leave or will spend all season in Bernabeu's bench.....

that is hilarious only 15mil, rafia would have to do alot better than that i can tell u, and if liverpool doesnt get back in the champions league there is no way raul will go there, and raul's atarting bidding point is 25mil

man Raul isnt doing to well and if they get more strikers in its possible.
Hell if Real got Owen for 8m and nunez(not worth more than 2m) why not?
And if a player thinks leaving is good and the club knows they have back ups and they will by more gor less so why not? Its possible.

Well i dont think 15 mil for raul aint too bad, morientes cost 6.3mil... and i think Moro is better then Raul :p
If liverpool give 15mil for Raul and we buy new players like Robinho, joaquin, reyes then it would't be a bad deal.. .. . .. I think he will leave, he misses his friend Moro :ronaldo:
I dont know what to think... i will be happy if he stayed but i would't he angry if he left to liverpool.

Sorry but it seems so funny to me hearing rumors of Raul leaving....and even funnier if it's for €15m!
First of all Raul will never leave Real, and second of all Real will never let Raul leave. And third of all Raul has not price in the market because he has never been transferred, some people say if he did have price it would be something like €90-100m.....

and if anyone is wondering why is it morientes costed so little but, that was because he was cup ties, so his transfer cost was like cut in half, and real saw no need for him anymore,

Yes, that's it! When Abramovich bought Chelsea, he started to disturb and bother the team and some players like Ronaldo, Casillas and Raul. He offered 100 million Euros for Raul and 10 million per year for the player, and both Raul and Florentino said "no".
Too, in the lately 90's Manchester United offered 100 million more for Roberto Carlos... and the answer was a 'no' as big as Bernabeu

That's just because you're not Raul....see why REAL Real Madrid fans respect him so much?? Not all players have the guts and the sence of loyalty as he does....

umm Raul said he would leave if he saw it as the best thing for the club and lets face it he aint doing to well especialy last season what did he score last year??? 12 goals???
Lance Knight

12 goals is alot better than some other people though, it aint great, but it is more average for a 1st team striker, but then for alomst half the season raul moved away from the strike postion and back into midfield

Great you don't want him, we wouldn't give him up to you anyway....
And Mirko, he said that because he loves the club but obviously he doesn't wanna leave.....besides, the media twists things a bit and ask tricky questions to get controversial answers.....
