Info about Serhat Akin (Akin to Anderlecht?)

Hello everybody,

I am a fan of RSC Anderlecht. Nowadays, there are a lot of rumours that Serhat Akin of Fenerbahce would sign for Anderlecht. He has been in Brussels last Saturday to visit the club and talked to our manager. Some fans even saw him with the manager in the fanshop where a shirt was made with his name on the back. Onder Turaci declared in the belgian press that Akin has told him that he normally would sign the deal after the international matches against Greece and .. (forgot the other match).

So, can anybody tell me how good or bad he is. What are his qualities? What are his weaknesses. Is he a first squad player or does he has to stay on the bench? Why has Fenerbahce bought Anelka if they have Serhat, Van Hooydonck and Nobre?

So everything you know about him, good things and bad things would help me a lot to have a good image of this player!

Well here is the thing. I dont believe he is an incredible player(no offence SIN :D he is Serhat's cousin) but this is the way I see him.

I like his football, he is very ambitous, high drıbblıng abbilities, extremly fast, he can see the gaps in the opposiotions defence, he is ok at crossing(not great), passing ok, however bad finishing especially one-on-one(against Diyarbakir in 31st week of the SuperLig he beautifully dribbeled this 3 defence players but his shot on goal was poor which happens a lot and you can see the video of that position) (http://www.antu.com/naklenx/2004-2005/diyarbakir_fener/diyarbakirspor0fenerbahce2.mpg). As a right-winger he would be good but not as a striker. Anelka has been bought to replace Van Hooijdonk. Since he came Daum played Anelka on the right wing and I think he is capable to do it since then he had less chance. Also Fenerbahce has Serkan Balci, he is as fast as Serhat but he doesnt have forward abilities as Serhat and I think he is better then him. Serhat is not a superb player but he is not bad at all. He hasnt been in the Turkish Natianol team for a while but he is called to game against Greece and I dont believe he'll be in the first eleven because there is better players then him to that job. Also Fenerbahce might sell Serhat since they are intrested to buy Nihat Kahveci from Real Sociedad, he like Serhat but waaaaaaaaay better him!

Are there any rumours in Turkish newspapers about a possible move to Anderlecht? Is Serhat a popular player in Turkey? I know that the Turkish people in Brussels are very happy with his possible move to Anderlecht! Are there any other teams linked with a possible move from Serhat to another team?

I mean they give the Brussel newspapers as a base but nothing is for sure at this point. But there is one thing that as to be considered, Whenever Fenerbahce board doesnt say anything about a transfer rumour, it is always true because they always respond the bullshit rumours. So in this case, its probably true that he is coming to Anderlecht. also he is a famous player because he plays for Fenerbahce but I would still want him to stay at Fenerbahce!

Serhat can be excellent when he is in form but when he isn't his not good at all.
He is very fast and knows how to dribble and get past his opposition but when it comes to finishing and scoring his not that good at. As Refeto said in that game, he took on 3 defenders and then couldn't finish. Overall though, he is very good.

I agree with Refeto, i think he will leave Fener.

According to 3 Belgian newspapers today, the deal is done. After the game from Turkey tuesday or wednesday, he will come to Brussels for the medical check up and he will sign his contract for 3 years with Anderlecht.

Are you sure? In Belgium everybody is saying that he will come to Brussels after the match against Kazachstan. Even our manager has said for the first time in public that the deal is almost done.

In the newspapers there are interviews with Onder Turaci who talks about Serhat and he says that they have talked about living in Brussels.

Do you have a source? Turkish newspapers or the site from Fenerbahce? Inside info?

Yeah I do and actually the news(Hurriyet newpaper) says that even after all this(which you can read in the next paragraph), Anderlecht's spokesperson still says that Serhat will sign. Here is the translation of the news. Also it was my bad, there is no signed contract but he will sign it right after the Turkey-Kazakhistan game.

After all this Anderlecht spokes person still says that Serhat will go to Belgium to sign a contract right after the Kazakhistan game.

Hmm.. This doesn't look good for Anderlecht. In Belgium everybody thought that the reason why Serhat wanted to move was because Daum didn't want him in his team. But now it seems like Daum changed his opinion.

Fanatik: Serhat said in Kazakhistan that he has agreed terms with Anderlecht.(this is the summary of the article you posted). but the wierd part is Anderlecht's website says its not a done deal yet!
Aziz Yildirim(Fenerbahce President): He visited a high school in a sport ceremony and the students asked him question about Serhat and he said some ppl trying to confuse Serhat but he loves Fenerbahce and Vice President talked to him and he is staying.

The Anderlecht website does not exacttly say it's not done.

This is more or less what is happening in Belgium. First there were some rumours about Serhat coming to Anderlecht. Van Holsbeeck (our manager) said that Anderlecht was interested, but that he was really expensive. Then Serhat suddenly came to Brussels where he had a visit to our stadion, the fan shop, everything (there were some fans who saw him with his manager and Van Holsbeeck). That was not last saturday but the week before. Since then the newspapers are writing that Akin had an agreement with Anderlecht for 3 years. Van Holsbeeck denied that on the official site and said that they only had "a really good talk" and that they would talk again immediately after the match of Turkey against Kazachstan.

Now the Belgian newspapers say that there is already an oral agreement and that Akin will come to Brussels thursday or friday to sign the deal and to do a medical check. Van Holsbeeck only wanted to react with "the negociations are in a final stage, but nothing is signed yet".

That's more or less the situation in Belgium for the moment. Is "Fanatik" a quality newspaper? Do they tell the truth most of the time? And "Hurriyet"?

Well certainly not Fanatik but, Hurriyet sometimes. Its actually better then Fanatik. All Fanatik says"Serhat said that" but it doesnt say he talked to Fanatik or any other media. About what Anderlecht website said, i read a comment about that article and one of the person translate it and he was saying the exacts things that you mentioned. They just talked and there is no signed contract but he will sign it after the Kazakhistan game. I guess we have to wait until Thursday or Friday and see whats gonna happen. I dont believe to Turkish media a lot. I dont believe until Fenerbahce website says anything. Also Fenerbahce fans website(www.antu.com) didnt say anything as well which is a good sign for Anderlect. Usually they will say its true or not since there is so many ppl close to the board. As I said we have to wait and see!

Ok I think here whats going on. This is what Fenerbahce president Aziz Yildirim said about Sehat:

We are still talking with Serhat. Mahmut Uslu talked to him and they agreed on money. He presented the report to us and we accepted it. Serhat's manager also his uncle will come to club building on Tuesday and we'll renew his contract. I personally talked tp him too and he said"I promised, so I'll stay". His only problem his Daum and not playing. I told him that we cant say anything about that, he has to talk to his problem with DAum and if he is still not statisfy, he can go anywhere he wants. He also added"We wont be sad for the one wants to leave. If he wants he'll sign the contract"...

So this is the deal right now. Basically its up to Serhat because he wants to play and he has two alternatives already! But I think Serhat is way better then Mehmet Yozgatli so thats why I rather him to stay!

Yep it's true, i read the official Fenerbahce website. His leaving Turkey tommorow.
This is what he had to say in the meeting. This is from Fenerbahce.org, i'll write a translation from Turkish.

That's true, we didn't pay anything. And at Anderlecht he doesn't have the highest paycheck, so it's certainly not for the money that he comes to Anderlecht. I thinka he will earn about 1 million euro's if you cancel all the taxes and that shit. So i guess he earned a lot more at Fenerbahce.

But he really wants to play some good seasons and then go to a big European club. It seems to me that he is really hungry. He is a nice guy. At the press conference he already spoke his first Dutch words :-) So that makes him very sympathic immediately. At the airport there were also some Turkish guys who were waiting for him. So he immediately feels good in Brussels!

I dont how is your fans connection at Anderlecht but if you go to games a lot our hang out in Anderlecht's forums teach them his nick "Kadikoy Bogasi" which means "Kadikoy Bull"..Kadikoy is the name of the neghborhood of Fenerbahce stadium, Sukru Saracoglu. When you say Kadikoy first thing that ppl will say is Fenerbahce. Anyway I think he would get confortable when he sees that kind of sign in the stadium or if you guys chant like that. Dont forget Turkish players are very sensetive so things like that affect them in a good way. You guys maybe can put a sign says "Welcome Anderlect Bull" or something like that.Thats what we Fenerbahce fans do when we have a new players joins. We make them feel comfortable in the stadium. Normally he will be in the starting 11 of Anderlecht. I don't know if you know a lot about Anderlecht but i guess this will be the team of Anderlecht. Proto; Deman, Tihinen, Deschacht; Vanden Borre, Kompany, Zetterberg, Goor; Wilhelmsson, Jestrovic, Akin.

I guess we will play in a 3-4-3 system that easily can be turned into a 4-4-2 with Jestrovic en Akin as the forwards. We just need 1 or 2 strong defensers and then we have a great team than can surprise perhaps in the Champions League..

His nickname is Senna, because Wilhelmsson (another great player of Anderlecht) couldn't remember his name and because he is so fast. So all the players call him Senna.

Our first qualifying match for the CL, Serhat started on the bench. The trainer felt that Serhat wasa bit tired and didn't wanted to force him. After this match Serhat was dissapointed and reacted in the press. The coach did not appreciate that, but everything is now cleared up. Since then he played every game. His first game in the Belgian League we won 6-0 with two goals of Serhat and 1 assist. He is already the favourite of the fans and his name is shouted a lot in the stadion. He has already said that he loves the fans of Anderlecht so that always helps to make yourself popular :-).

After two matches in the Belgian League we are top of the table with 6 points, and Serhat is topscorer with 3 goals. He also has given 2 assists. So he is really playing great and we all love him! Everytime he gets the ball you can hear the excitement in the stadion. I thank Fenerbahce that they let him go and I think we will have a nice season with Serhat!!

From the beginning, even before he played any match at Anderlecht, he already was a publics favourite because he was really ambitious in interviews, and our manager really was excited about him.

Then during the pre-season games, he really played great. He adapted quickly, trained very hard and scored goals in every preparation game.

The fans are impressed by his pace, he is unbelieveble fast and the teammates call him Senna for that reason. The Anderlecht fans are really difficult, in the way that we don't want just good results. We want good results AND good, attractive football. Technique is really important and players who can make an action, have technique, flair,.. are immediately welcomed as heroes. I really think he is worth it, he's one of our greatest players in the squad.

By the way, his little brother, Serkan, also plays for Anderlecht now. He has signed a contract for 1 year with an option for another year. He is 17 and plays left defender. We hope he is as good as his older brother. It is certainly good for their integration in the team and the city that they have eachother!

Yesterday, Anderlecht has qualified itselfs for the Champions League. We won the first leg against Slavia Prague with 2-1 and yesterday we also won the second leg with 0-2.

Man of the match was... Serhat Akin. He scored the first goal and gave the assist for the second. He did a lot of work, run everywhere, defended where he could, chased the defenders of Slavia, created chances,.. We love to have him in our team!! I really think Fenerbahce made a mistake to let him go. Everybody overhere already talks about him. I hope we will be able to keep him longer then 1 year before a big european club buys him. If he continues to play like this and perhaps even improves more then we will certainly see him play next year at a European topclub..

Fenerbahce shouldn't have sold him, I agree. The fool wanted to go to Europe, so he left FB and went to the Anderlecht. Stupid move if you ask me, because I still don't think he will be able to do what's expected of him in Europe. He's a great player, give it 2 or 3 years and he'll be back in Turkey. Mark my words, he's no Altintop.
