Gerets is new Galatasaray coach
ISTANBUL, June 1 (Reuters) - Turkey's Galatasaray have appointed Erik Gerets as coach following the resignation of Gheorghe Hagi, the club said on their website on Wednesday.
'Agreement was reached with him in all areas. Gerets will be in Istanbul on Thursday,' Galatasaray said.
Belgian Gerets, 51, resigned as VfL Wolfsburg coach at the weekend, leaving the German club a year before his contract expired. He had previously coached Kaiserslautern.
Galatasaray accepted Hagi's resignation on Tuesday. The former Romania playmaker quit in frustration at what he felt was a lack of support from the club's directors during his year in charge.
Despite beating Denizlispor 4-0 in their last Turkish league match this season, Galatasaray finished third and failed to secure a prized Champions League place. They will play in the UEFA Cup next season.
Hagi played for Galatasaray from 1996 until his retirement in 2001, scoring 78 goals in 167 matches and helping the side to four domestic titles and a UEFA Cup victory.

Former Partizan Beograd captain Sasa Ilic (Saa Ilić) has set up a good start for his new club Galatasaray with two goals scored against Konyaspor and therefore bringing Gala a valuable three points in the opening round of the 2005/06 Turkish Super League.
The twenty-seven year old Serbo-Montenegrin offensive midfielder scored first in the 3rd and then in 51st minute for 2:0 lead, both times after he was assisted by long runs from Galatasaray striker Hasan Sas.
Konyaspor succeeded to pull one back but without success as they still lost all three points. The scorer was 25 year old central midfielder Levent Kartop who accurately shipped the ball in Galas net from the penalty spot in 60th minute. That goal made the score board change to 2:1 for Galatasaray which after the final whistle appeared as the final result.
This was a great debut for Ilic, and there is no doubt that if he continues with this kind of performances he will ensure himself maybe even a first eleven spot in the national team of Serbia & Montenegro in whose jersey he has already been capped 24 times since the summer 2000 and scored 5 goals.
During his time in Partizan where he started his career Ilic made exactly 200 league appearances while scoring 98 goals. In 2003/04 he spent the second part of the Championship on a loan in Spain where he played for Celta Vigo with whom he played in 13 matches in Primera Division and scored 1 goal.
At the moment the Serb is tied by contract to Galatasaray with whom he has pledged his loyalty for the next three years.

I read that Galatasaray players were planning on protesting Anelka's hand-goal in the Konya game by playing volleyball as a warmup to the Trabzonspor match, but the team's board of directors stepped in and told them not to. I think that would have been very funny if that happened.

Oh, I agree completely. Besiktas, Galatasaray, and Trabzonspor are still campaigning to have the teams re-play the match. I think this is fair, since a referree's mistake last season allowed Fenerbahce to re-play a match against Caykur Rize which had a unfavorable score towards Fener.
yes that is a great idea and very fair, it shud be done
sinan1903
10-05-2005, 04:08 AM
Well, I heard that there will most likely not be a replay. The mistake was a referee's mistake, not a violation of the rules. In the game last year, the referee forgot to eject someone after giving them their second yellow card, so that counted as a violation of the rules apparently.

As the Turkish Turkcell Super League's 13th week closed on Sunday, Galatasaray closed the gap on leaders Fenerbahce to just three points, just before the Derby match, which will take place at Ali Samiyen Stadium this coming Sunday. This was a great morel build for Gala. Hakan Sukur did not played in this match. Cihan Haspolatli gave Galatasaray the lead after nine minutes, and Necati Ates scored the second goal in the 26th minute.Fresh leg, Hasan Kabze, who had only come on the pitch in the last minute, scored the Galatasaray's third goal.
Second place Gala, won in a away match, against , Ankaraspor in Ankara 2-1
Umit and Necati proved to the coach Gerets, they should be on the pitch all the time. Both of them scored the goals for Gala. I think gerets made the good choice , puting Hakan Sukur in last five minutes of the match, after disaster match against Fenerbahce last week.
I think Hakan Sukur should hang his cleats soon, there is no place for him in Galatasaray anymore.
here are the latest news concerning GS:
Sadiou and Song will not return to GS unless they are paid (which is not new, we all know that )
ilic recieved a 2 match ban after he recived a red card against BJK in the final of the Efes Cup the other night (2 match ban becouase he did something to upset the referee and the Turkish Football Association is investigating it)
and Heinz is undergoing an operation on his tonsils ;)

Galatasarays reign at the top of the Turkish Turkcell Super League ladder has proved brief, one week in fact, as Fenerbahce regained the competition lead on the weekend.
Galatasaray came up against the Trabzonspor Black Sea Storm in round 25 of the Turkcell Super League in Sunday's match ended in a one-all draw. After Failure to a win ,Gala, drop to second place in the league after the crushing defeat handed out to Konyaspor by last week's second-place team Fenerbahce, in a match that ended in a convincing score of 5-0 at Istanbul.
Gökdeniz Karadeniz strike at 64 minutes gave Trabzon 1-0 edge,, but nine minutes later Turkish international Necati Ates scored the equaliser.

as far as i am concerned referees have given fenerbahce 6 undeserving points.Handballs redcards to players i.e kerem inan. Referees have let them get away with murder in footballing terms. If we win the superleague we will prove prove our domination and that no matter what obstacle may it be the referees against us and helping fener or may it be crippling debts we will still and always be the best club in Turkey.

Welcome Ibo. Fener does not need the refs help. It is obviously GS who needs their help more. We have an amazing team which we keep happy by paying their wages and giving them bonuses once in a while. U guys cant even afford to pay their wages yet alone give them bonuses.
welcome ibo, good to see another GS fan around here, hope u stay unlike some people.
I agree with you ibo and dont mind Fenerlyims comments because it is not our fault that the players are not getting payed, we are loyal supporters not the head of department.
Ibo424
04-11-2006, 06:33 PM
Thanks for the welcomming.First thing is Fenerliyim You may say you do not need their help but what i can see is that we have had referees giving you free points and also giving blaitent decisions against us. The handball on the line against Erciyesspor but nothing was givin, foul in the box against Genclerbirligi on Hakan Sukur (nothing givin) etc. My point is however despite all these obstacles infront of Cimbom we are still on the same points as Fener and could win the Super League if we beat you in Kadikoy.
When you talk of our players not being paid ok you are right but 2 days ago all of our players where paid and a promise made from Adnan Polat a man whom i respect very much said that all of players wages that where owed to them will all be paid back to them in 45 days.
Next thing is that Galatasaray are making strides in eliminating the debt which you make fun of us about. Recently billionaire George Soros and a company called CAIB bought 21.04 percent of Galatasaray shares bringing in 40 million for cimbom. So as you can see big steps are being taken to reduce the debt.
The next thing on the agenda is Riva and if that goes ahead we will have elminated our debt. Also Seyrentepe looks to be going ahead after the planning permission seems to have been accepted as it takes about 4 years to recieve it.
Lastly you cannot laugh at our debt because your own club is in 50 to 60 million dollars in debt.

They were paid with Federations money, Ulusoy gave GS money. He didn't give Fener, BjK or Trabzon any money. Obviously Galatasaray is the team that all the 'help' goes to.

Nothing is hard brother. I am just tired of getting into big debates with Fenerbahce fans on things they cant seem to face.
Im also having difficulty on finding the 1000 words as you say their are in the picture. As far as i am concerned there is a goalkeeper with a circle around him. where u feeling bored brother that you thought you would just muster something out of nowhere so that you can start up some bizarre rumour which you call fact?? Anyway lets just talk till after Cimbom win the Super League.

Then were not gonna talk for a very very long time. During the GS vs Genclerbirligi game the ref gave gs a penalty. Before Necati took the penalty the goalie pointed to which side necati should shoot it. Just watch the video for urself and see wat really happened.

Are you stupid. These are goalkeeper mind tricks (Not a very good one in my opinion but was a trick). All top goalkeepers use different tricks to try and put the striker off the kick. The goalie was basicllly saying to Necati you are hitting it their and was hoping Necati would go the other way. Because of all the hand balls leading to goals i.e. Anelka Nobre and the other dodgy decisions this is the best you Fenerbahce fans have come up with. Get real and if you think there was sumthing so dodgy about this dont you think it would have been done a bit more discreetly and not all over Live tv.

Sasa İliç, bu sezon Beşiktaş'a karşı forma giydiği iki karşılaşmada Siyah-Beyazlı takımın kalesine 3 gol bırakma başarısı gösterdi.
Ligin ilk yarısında Ali Sami Yen Stadı'nda yapılan maçta üst üste bulduğu 2 kritik golle Galatasaray'ın 3-2'lik galibiyetinin en büyük mimarlarından olan İliç, devre arasında Antalya'da düzenlenen “Efes Cup 5'' futbol turnuvası finalinde de Beşiktaş kalesine 1 gol atmıştı. Ligde geçen hafta yapılan Ankaraspor maçında da 2 gol birden atan Sasa İliç, bu sezon Galatasaray forması giydiği 28 lig maçında 1869 dakika görev alırken, bu sürede 11 gol kaydetti.
This is good news for Galatasaray as Mondragon is needed in the team, and another two years with him will be good, he has secured a firm spot in the team and he has performed well. I cant see who else can take his spot.

Maniche (Dinamo Moscow)
Thomas Gravesen (Madrid)
Ze Roberto (Bayern)
Igor Tudor (Siena) too old
Eugen Polanski (B. Monch.) not that good
Rodrigo Ferrugem (Ajaccio)
Albert Nadj (Partizan) too old and wouldn't help out that much
Rolf Christo (Koln) why? does GS need this guy
Yildiray Basturk (Hertha) i can see that
In my opinion those players (whose names are in green) would fit in into GS and would help out because they are either World Class players or they would add something to GS.
Yes i agree with you, but still these are just rumours and GS have not got enough money to throw around.

well 1 out of 10 came; carrusca is the only one. maniche is a huge target for a moneyless team like gs isn't he? coz our team didn't realize that spending was easier than earning until they got stuck in this situation..... sad:(
Well i think carrusca was a big dissapointed so far, he hasint really produced anything and the young turkish players we have like Arda have really shined. I think we should be able to get some more transfers soon.

The majority think's that it's the right way for Linderoth to go, he's simply one of the best defensive midfielders in europe and it's about time that he proves himself in a big club such as Galatasaray.

After weeks of increasing speculation, it's finally official: Galatasaray have reached an agreement with Brazilian playmaker Lincoln and his club,
Schalke 04. Ever since the departure of Gheorge Hagi as a player, the Lions have lacked a "number 10" playmaker, and they may have found one in Lincoln. Club president Ozhan Canaydin was able to work out the transfer with his personal friend Schalke chairman Gerhard Rehberg.
The transfer was confirmed by Schalke manager Andreas Mueller. "Yes, the contracts are ready. Lincoln is going to Galatasaray," Mueller told German newspaper Bild. The move was also confirmed in an announcement on Galatasaray's official website. Galatasaray are reportedly paying Schalke a 5 million Euro transfer fee for the 28-year-old star, who will receive 2.5 million Euros a year for two years. He is expected to fly into Istanbul by Monday.
Galatasaray have finally found a replacement for outgoing goalkeeper Farid Mondragon, who left the team for Koln earlier this month. The club announced today that it had signed Kayseri Erciyesspor keeper Orkun
Uşak to a three-year contract. "Bursaspor and Galatasaray were interested in me," the player said at a news conference, "and of course I chose Galatasaray." Orkun, 27, is expected to be the Lions' starting goalkeeper, even though the club already has three keepers (Fevzi Elmas, Aykut Erçetin and Fırat Kocaoğlu). Orkun started his career on Galatasaray's youth teams, and moved on to play for Beykozspor, Bakırköyspor and Üsküdar Anadolu. He played in 16 league matches for Erciyesspor last season, allowing 10 goals.

He hasn't even signed a contract yet, but Galatasaray are already selling jerseys with Lincoln's name and #10. The shirts went up on the official Galatasaray store yesterday, and are expected to be the season's hottest-selling item. Galatasaray striker Necati Ates, who wore the #10 last season, joked to the press, "I'm giving Lincoln #10 as a gift."
Lincoln will fly into Istanbul from Frankfurt on Monday, according to an announcement on Galatasaray's official website. His plane will arrive at
Istanbul Ataturk Airport at 21:55 local time, and the usual throng of fans, press, and police is expected to be on hand.

Let me congratulate Galatasaray for signing Lincoln. I want league to be competitive. Transfers like these are needed to make it so.
However, I believe Lincoln is little overrated. I mean, I was reading the news whole day, everybody is talking about how GS signed with their new Hagi. Hagi was one of the best that came to Turkey, and there will never be another one again. Hagi was different.
Another thing is, it is very funny how they start to compare him with Alex. Everybody other than FB fans thinks Alex is garbage. But yet, they still compare everyone with him. When Kleberson came, they said 1 Kleberson=5 Alex, when Ricardinho came, they said 1 Ricardinho= 10 Alex, and now Lincoln came, and Tanburaci wrote how ALex's era has ended, and GS bought a better player than Alex. I'll let the numbers talk:
(In last 3 years)
Lincoln
MP G A
83 20 8 in his last year, i could not find the other years.
Alex de Souza
MP G A
149 76 80
MP: Matches Played
G: Goals
A: Assists
How will Lincoln do in Turkey? We shall wait and see. But i find it wrong to compare him with Alex just yet. :)
However, I do believe that Linderoth will be a better signing than Lincoln. :)

Plus Alex has played for brazil 67 times scoring 21 goals
on the other hand Lincoln played for Brazil 0 times
Look at Lincoln's career stats
136 MP 36 goals
thats his whole career
Alex 593 MP 237 goals - not counting NT appearences.
Lincoln is definetly not the new Hagi
Rommedahl will be in Turkey by Thursday most probably.
Galatasaray's new transfer Lincoln will fly into Istanbul from Frankfurt today. His plane will arrive at Istanbul Ataturk Airport at 21:55 local time,
and the usual throng of fans, press, and police is expected to be on hand.
Yesterday, Lincoln spoke to the press about his new club, and said he was happy with the terms of his deal: "I signed a good contract," he said, adding that he hopes to help Galatasaray in their UEFA Cup campaign this season. He also expressed admiration for the passion of Turkish football fans, comparing them to the fans in his native Brazil. Earlier in the day, Galatasaray will hold a signing ceremony and press conference for six other new players. Algerian defender İsmail Bouzid, ex-Fenerbahce defender Servet Çetin, and new goalkeeper Orkun Uşak will meet the press at the club's Florya grounds.
Also in attendance will be a pair of young Turkish/German players, Barış Özbek and
Serkan Çalık, who signed for Galatasaray in May from RW Essen.

Galatasaray held a signing ceremony and press conference this afternoon for five new players. Algerian defender İsmail Bouzid, ex-Fenerbahce defender
Servet Çetin, and new goalkeeper Orkun Uşak met the press at the club's Florya grounds. Also in attendance were a pair of young Turkish/German players, Barış Özbek and Serkan Çalık, who signed for Galatasaray in May from RW Essen.
Galatasaray's new transfer Lincoln flew into Istanbul from Frankfurt last night. The midfielder was greeted at the airport by a larger-than-usual mob of fans and press as hundreds of Galatasaray supporters camped outside the airport, chanting his name and lighting flares. This morning, the club held a press conference and signing ceremony at its Florya grounds, formally completing the transfer. Lincoln, born Cassio de Souza Soares, was given a yellow-red jersey with his new number, 10. Galatasaray reportedly paid Lincoln's former club, Schalke 04, a 5 million Euro transfer fee for the 28-year-old star, who will receive 2.5 million Euros a year for four years. Ever since the departure of Gheorge Hagi as a player, the Lions have lacked a "number 10" playmaker, and they may have found one in Lincoln. Together with the summer's other big transfer, Tobias Linderoth, Galatasaray have both secured a decent midfield and exceeded the expectations of most fans and commentators,
who had expected the cash-strapped club to make few, if any, big-name transfers. Where they found the money is still a question, but the club has proved its critics wrong and shown a determination to compete with their wealthier rivals, Fenerbahce. This week, Lincoln spoke to the press about his new club, and said he was happy with the terms of his deal: "I signed a good contract," he said, adding that he hopes to help Galatasaray in their UEFA Cup campaign this season. He also expressed admiration for the passion of Turkish football fans, comparing them to the fans in his native Brazil.

The Galatasaray team, led by new coach Karl-Heinz Feldkamp, held their first training session at the club's Florya grounds today. The practice was open to the public, so hundreds of fans took the opportunity to come see the new players, including yesterday's signing Lincoln. After the practice, players
signed autographs for fans. Managers, players and staff also held a minute of silence for former coach Jupp Derwall, who died Tuesday. The squad will train at Florya until July 7th, when they fly to Switzerland for a summer training camp. In Switzerland, they will also compete in the Berne Tournament, which
includes Anderlecht, Borussia Dortmund and YB Berne. Galatasaray will play Anderlecht on July 10th. After the Swiss program, the team will fly directly to Germany for a training camp in Duisberg, where they will play practice matches against FC Koln (new home of Farid Mondragon) and VfL Bochum.
The team will fly back to Istanbul on July 23rd for another few weeks of training at Florya before the start of the 2007-2008 Super Lig season.
The Galatasaray transfers rolled on this week as the club signed Antalyaspor defender Volkan Yaman. Galatasaray traded goalkeeper Fevzi Elmas and an unspecified sum of money for Volkan, who will wear the number 74.
The German-born player, 25, got his first international cap for Turkey last year.
Galatasaray has won the OBI Cup :D
We beat YB Berne 3-1, Galatasaray's goals came from Baris Ozbek, Ozgurcan, and Umit Karan.

Galatasaray failed to impress in a practice match against Istanbulspor on Sunday, drawing 1-1 at Ataturk Olympic Stadium. And on Wednesday, the team traveled to Bolu for a match against League A side Boluspor, but again failed to deliver a win, drawing 3-3. So the Lions have one last chance to prove to fans that they are ready for the new season, which begins next weekend. A final preparation match is scheduled for tomorrow in Izmir, when the Lions take on Karsiyaka.
Galatasaray's season begins Tomight, when the Lions host Caykur Rizespor. The match was scheduled to be played at GS's home turf of Ali Sami Yen Stadium, but because of the ongoing renovations at that ground, the match will be played at Ataturk Olympic Stadium. Widely disliked by fans for its poor atmosphere and remote location, Olympic Stadium has not seen Galatasaray at their best: the Lions have a dismal record of just 14 wins out of 26 official matches played there. It remains to be seen whether GS will be forced to play further matches there this season.

A day after Fenerbahce and Besiktas both drew in their weekend league matches, Galatasaray responded with a thorough rout of Konyaspor.
Scoring six goals and conceding none, the Lions lifted themselves to the top of the Turkish Super Lig table, two points ahead of Besiktas and a full five points ahead of Fenerbahce. Galatasaray's goals came from Shabani Nonda (2), Carrusca, Hakan Sukur, Umit Karan and Hasan Sas.
Galatasaray lost 3-2 at FC Sion in the first leg of their UEFA Cup first round match on Thursday. The home side took an early lead at the Stade de Geneve Stadium, going ahead 3-0 by the 32nd minute. Galatasaray mounted a comeback, but goals from Lincoln (39') and Linderoth (67') were not enough for the win. The second leg will be played in Istanbul on October 4th.
After their disappointing loss in the UEFA Cup this week at FC Sion, Galatasaray returned to domestic action this weekend with a match against Super Lig newcomers Kasimpasa. And the Lions got the job done, winning 1-0 thanks to an impressive bicycle-kick goal from Umit Karan in the 73rd minute.
Meanwhile, Galatasaray's rivals Fenerbahce could only manage a 1-1 draw at
Bursaspor, and now sit seventh in the Turkish Super Lig table, a full seven points behind GS.
In the first Istanbul derby ever to be played in front of an empty stadium, Galatasaray beat crosstown rivals Besiktas 2-1 to solidify their lead of the Turkish Super Lig. The match was played behind closed doors as part of Galatasaray's ongoing punishment for crowd trouble at the end of last season. But the silence at Ali Sami Yen Stadium was no hindrance to the Lions, who dominated the match from the start. The home side took the lead in the 22nd minute on Hakan Balta's goal. Besiktas equalized in the 44th minute, but Shabani Nonda's 77th-minute penalty gave the Lions the lead and the win. Besiktas remain in second place in the league, but they are now five points behind Galatasaray. Fenerbahce, who won their weekend match, are still seven points behind the leaders.

Galatasaray avoided an early exit from the UEFA Cup Thursday night with a decisive 5-1 win over FC Sion in Istanbul. The Lions had lost the away leg 3-2and faced a must-win situation at Ali Sami Yen Stadium. A pair of early goals from Umit Karan got the home side off to a good start, and they consolidated their lead with goals from Lincoln (36') and Arda Turan (68'). Sion managed
to score once, in the 89th minute, but Galatasaray defender Ismael Bouzid scored one last goal in the 90th minute for a final score of 5-1. Galatasaray will now advance to the group stage, which starts October 25.
Hakan Sukur will retire after this season finishes, after that he was offered a job as a assistant manager at the club. He might accept, that would be great having the presence of the KING around the club after he hangs up his boots.

Galatasaray's second draw in as many domestic matches cost the team their lead in the Turkish league this weekend, with surprise contenders Sivasspor grabbing the top spot. Galatasaray played a scoreless draw against Ankaraspor on Sunday, while Sivas edged past Vestel Manisaspor 1-0. Fourth-placed Fenerbahce also took the full three points with a 4-1 win over Konyaspor.
Galatasaray regained the top spot in the Turkish Super Lig this weekend, beating Denizlispor away 2-1 thanks to a late penalty from Shabani Nonda.
Sivasspor, who had held the top spot for just one week, slipped back to second after losing to Konyaspor. Fourth-placed Fenerbahce got a little closer to the top with a win over Kasimpasa, while third-placed Besiktas played a scoreless draw against Istanbul Buyuksehir.
Did anyone see Sabri have a go at the crowd last night? Apparently he is in trouble for that. Thats why we was subbed off.
Galatasaray regained their Turkish league lead on Friday, beating first-placed Sivasspor 2-0 at Ali Sami Yen Stadium. Sivas had briefly taken the Super Lig lead last weekend after Galatasaray's derby loss to Fenerbahce, but the Lions showed the surprise contenders that they are still the team to beat this season. Shabani Nonda (70') and Baris Ozbek (84') gave the Lions the win in a physical match which saw no less than seven yellow cards. Galatasaray now have a one-point lead over Sivasspor, with Fenerbahce a close third. The Yellow Canaries hope to close the gap further when they visit Genclerbirligi on Sunday.
In their final Uefa Cup group stage match, Galatasaray failed to win at home against Austria Wien, but were saved by a late comeback by Bordeaux against Panionios. Despite Galatasaray's 0-0 score, the team scaped through to the final 32 teams thanks to the already-qualified Girondins' come from behind win in Greece. The Round of 32 begins on February 13, 2008.
Galatasaray have made their first winter-break transfer, signing Ankaragucu captain Emre Güngör in exchange for Ismail Bouzid and an undisclosed fee. Fenerbahce was also reportedly interested in the 23-year-old defender.

A Shabani Nonda hat-trick provided three of Galatasaray's five goals, with the other two coming from Servet Cetin and Arda Turan. We are in Week 20, he has only played 11 matches in the TSL and 5 matches in Europe.

Well, here's another 'interesting' friend about our friend Lincoln:
For every game he's missed through injury so far, GS has been paying him 770 thousand YTL (don't know how much that is in dollars).
Man, statistics like that make me happy he doesn't play for FB.
Funny thing is, this was one of the criticisms GS received before getting this player; that why get such an injury-prone player who's gonna end up missing games.
I guess GS needed all the publicity it could get at that time, as there was nothing bright in their near future.

Considering the lack of worthy #10s GS had since Hagi, Lincoln being another rushed transfer doesn't really surprise me. GS is desperate to get a good playmaker but for some reason they never find the right one, and when it is the right one, he never performs. I guess the board thought it was a good idea to buy a good but injury prone player to match their rival's star transfer. How wrong was that?...
Now maybe they'll keep Lincoln next year too, and hope he decides to perform as high as his salary. I'm sorry but when you're getting one of the highest pays in the league, you can't have excuses like "the other players are fouling me too hard". It happens to almost every star player here.
Stay tuned next week when we cry and moan about Mateja Kezman, another million dollar disappointment...

Good post. Pretty much summed it all up. (btw, a star transfer whom they all critcized as being too old, or that we wouldn't even be able to buy his poster).

Another good point.
Look at Nonda; game in and game out this guy is doing his thing, and he's not getting paid as nearly as that overrated Lincoln.

Tello is another example. He's probably getting less than both, but he's saving his team every game.
I guess I couldn't say the same about any of Fener's players. They all get insane amounts of money...
I agree, but he does make a world of difference when he is playing.
Galatasaray are back on top of the Turkish league table, and they have Fenerbahce to thank for it. In a much-anticipated match, the Yellow Canaries beat Sivasspor today, knocking the surprise contenders down to third place. Galatasaray's 4-0 win at Ankaragucu gave them the three points needed to reclaim the number one spot.
The top of the Super Lig table is tightly crowded, though: Galatasaray are now just a
single point ahead of Fener, who are one point ahead of Sivas, who are themselves now
tied with Besiktas.
Sivas will be falling off the charts, if they had an upcoming game against either galatasaray or besiktas they could look to bounce back from this big defeat. but they won't be doing so in the near future, so they will decline because of it. it is the quality of the teams of the big three that helps them play in big games. sivas didnt know how to handle the game, they tried to play an open game, thinking they were the shit or something, but in reality they are small compared to any of the big three. once you start playing an open game like fener, you will get destroyed that is what happened. Sivas needed to play a game plan as if they were a team like kasimpasa, put a lot of pressure, then once fener made a mistake go on the counter attack, they did not do this and therefore lost the game. galatasaray and besiktas need to be aware that they will be changing their game plan, when these two teams visit them. but for sivas will be dropping off the charts. plus if they werent handed 3 points from the trabzonspor game, they wouldnt on top, so think about it that way.
now back on the lincoln case, lincoln needs to be sold, so gs can place more funding on their players that are playing well so far, and bring in some heavy duty workers. they were going for the right stuff trying to bring in a play maker, but a lot of scouting needs to be done. they need a player that is in the same age group as their whole team, someone young and fresh. if a connection between this player and the rest of the team, will mean greatness for GS. But for now get rid of lincoln, GS has recovered from the sales of his jersey.
Now my two cents on Linderoth, this is guy is an alright player, but not a GS calibre player. I would sell this guy off too, and bring in reinforcements, have a second team line up so strong they can perform and aid in league matches. When 3 to 4 games come in a short span, so start players can be rested. I would love to see something happen like this at fenerbahce, but the money given to each player is so high that it would probably make the team broke. but i think galatasaray can do this, and i would like to see it happen in the TSL.
In conclusion this season has been very interesting so far, and i am enjoying every minute of it. I am kind of upset that rules and regulations are changing around what fenerbahce wants, as i am talking about the 6 + 2 rule coming into affect. Other than that i hope to see a tight race between the 3 teams all the way till the end.

i really got ur point well ;) but it's not easy to sell Lincoln. yes we can sell him but the price would be way lower than we had bought him. + i don't think any team makes offer a player who's always close to injuries. let's say we sold Lincoln who will we get ? Ronaldinho, Kaka ? if u mean young prospects, good ones are already got by giant teams, and noone can gurantee that avarage ones will help us much. so, i don't think we can get a better player with our current economic situation ;) and i really believe in Lincoln he'll help us in upcomin games very much ;)

Young prospects? I think GS has more than enough of those. Selling Lincoln would be suicide in multiple ways. First of all there's no way you're gonna sell him for anything close to what you paid. Second, can you imagine the chaos and uproar caused by the fans and media if the so called Alex destroyer, best player in the league, new Hagi, perfect 10, etc is sold before playing 10 games in the league? And like Redlion said, who would you be buying if you sold him? Go on with Arda? Can you really trust such an inconsistent player at such an important position?
@ Zare, what you need to consider is that Sivas did not make it to the top this season just by sheer luck. They played to win in most of there matches and went looking for all those goals. Sivas do not have a sqaud like the top 3, but they do have alot of consistent workers and they have played with alot of spirit up till now. Yes, i agree they will not be able to take the top spot anymore, and just like last season how Kayserispor stole the limelight they will slowly decrease and it will be another battle between GS, FB and BJK. But there is also nothing seperating all these teams, one little slip up and another team can hit the front by 3-6 points and then what? There will be no coming back....
----
In my opinion it would be a disaster if Lincoln was sold at this stage, We are paying top money for this guy and to sell him now without even benifiting from his services would be stupid. More worse than Ribery, or any other high class player we lost. Lincoln will be back from injury, then we will see what he can offer, he did play most of his matches in great form, he scored some unbelivable goals and was solid in the position he played. We need him, we cannot just rely on Arda and Baris to run the mid. But we also have Topal and Guven who are both playing really well. Its great to see so many young and gifted players at the Galatasaray camp, this is out future, this is where galatasaray are going and im proud to have young turks in our sqaud. We also have older, more experienced players in our sqaud to guide these guys. In my opinion we are making the right choices in terms of starting lineup and sqaud.

I hope you also realize that in today's football, it's impossible to achieve success in the domestic leagues consistently and succeed in Europe without good foreign transfers. If GS keeps losing blood with expensive/inefficient transfers, soon the club will dig a bigger ditch financially and a bad reputation for other players in Europe. Turkish clubs are just learning the do's and don'ts of foreign transfers but GS still seems years away.
Of course i realise that, thats why we are trying to slowly buildi back our team with foriegners that make a difference, so that we can compete in Europe aswell as Turkey. (But this does not neccassarily mean that foriegn players will do well for us in Europe)
Take Nonda for example, we bought him for what 800 000 euros? Money well spent imo. He is a top goal scorer and plays very consistently and has fit into the TSL very well in terms of the style of play.
We have recently opened up our foriegners spots, i think big things are going to happen with Galatasarays sqaud again in the coming years, it always happens, its a change we have to go through with in order to be fresh and alive in this day and age.

I agree about Nonda, for 800,000 he's a steal. But players like Carrusca, Bouzid, Linderoth, Lincoln, and a few more from last year...we used to make fun of our own transfers, but Galatasaray is running laps around the old Fener now. I don't know how these same board members are able to keep their positions, and I can't understand how calm the fans are about this.
Ok i admit, Carrusca and Bouzid turned out to be duds, but why? Maybe because they did not get that chance to actaully play in the starting lineup some more. If they played a bit more perhaps they could have succeded at Galatasaray. And besides, i was quite happy with the performances that Carrusca and Bouzid gave, i cant see why people got so upset at them for??
As for Linderoth and Lincoln, its just fate that they got injured, im sure they were not used to the heavy hitting and tackling that the anadolu players provided them. Heck, even Alex is not used to it still. Lindy and Lincoln will be back to there best, but in the mean time we will use what we have or what we can get.

Linderoth n Lincoln were good transfers i rekn, and carrusca jst needed more time and a better attitute, if he tried he would be better.
Bouzid tho, i have no idea why we got him. He's not HORRIBLE, but any turkish player can fill in his spot, complete waste of a transfer.

Lincoln got injured,,,,, AGAIN!!!!!!!
This time during training.
What a mistake this was by GS for buying this guy. Yes, he can score in the games he plays, but how many is he actually gonna play????!!!!
Whether it's Lincoln's fault or not, he's such a loser for missing so many games.
As a FB fan, I want to see this guy healthy and help GS and play against us to the finish.
I havent heard anything about that...
But apparently Nonda will not play against FB, he is injured!

Ill check with the Galatasaray officials, but last time i heard he was fit and ready to go!
So then we will be missing Lincoln, Nonda, Lindy through injury.
Plus all these other players we have sold or are on loan, we will be missing alot of players who usually all played together at some point in the season.
It is going to be a tough derby for us again.

Line up could be same line up (v Ankaragucu) ?...
Baris Ozbek will be back for the derby i gues. (he didint play last match).
So,
probable line up would be:
Orkun- Ugur,Emre,Servet,Volkan-Serkan,Baris,MTopal,Arda-HSukur,Umit.
I would put Mehmet Guven in Serkans position. And then swap Serkan with Hakan Sukur later on in the match.

he gived chance to sabri,,,but sabri didin't use well...
at the end,,, its over for sabri.
@
but yesterday i read new news, sabri back to the squad again........
Because Sabri has an attitude problem thats why. He has become a kind of guy who will get angry at everything and Kalli has indicated that this is not what we need. You never know what Sabri is capable of, he has anger issues, just like Hasan Sas.

His attitude, aswell his upanddown performance is very bad.
Aswell he is not so good at Tactical Game.
He didin't devolope well...he everyseason since he come from PAF youth to the A squad since then he didint step up his football.
I think Kalli did a right desicion to sen him out of the squad.
