Don't get me wrong. I am a liverpool fan but honestly speaking, I think gerrard is overrated. He is nothing more than an inspiration due to his drive for success.
Liverpool should cash in for Gerrard and get the $30m from him to buy other players!
Xabi alonso has already stated that if Gerrard was to leave, he'd be ready to step into his shoes. I think Xabi Alonso is better than Gerrard. Gerrard is just like any other footballer, the only difference is his drive.
Liverpool should cash in and get the $30m.
Imagine how many quality players $30m can get you in place of one.

I think he should stay, cuz Liverpool has top youth players like Mellor and don`t need to buy. Only investment as I`m concerned should be in defense and maybe(just maybe) one quality striker. What do u think?

but seriously don't you guys agree that apart from Gerrard's influence on field, he is nothing more? i'm looking from a neutral point of view.
xabi alonso is a far more talented player compared to stevie G. seriously my friends and I have been realising that SG is jealous of alonso. he is starting to emulate the passing of xabi alonso's.
btw... its been rumored that liverpool are going to bid $15m for SWP from man city. The $30m from SG's sale could come in handy aye?

- yes i've heard about joaquin, but i think the bid is around $20m.
- reina is definitely a done deal at $6m.
- i've heard about vicente coming too at $13m in place for kewell
- another rumor is mista to come in place for baros
- Liverpool definitely need a right winger and SWP is a natural there, the bid is around $15m
- haven't heard about Dirk Kujit though. i doubt dudek will be leaving too.
- Andy Johnson is pure BS, he scores most of his goals from the spot. hes overrated.
- O'shea, well i think its not that much. heard its just around $2.5m to $3m
the sale of gerrard plus the $30m transfer kitty the board is offering can surely help secure this players. we need the extra players, especially with all our injury prone players. i still stand firm on gerrard being overrated and should be sold =)
hope you guys see my point of view and not view this as treachery

.
Thats his rating !
he is not over rated, and his drive to succeed and the fact that he pulls it off is the reason why he is the captain !
his determination and drive and his skill, plus the price tag on his head and the fact that numerous other team want his services is exactly the reason why he is rated so highly.
He is not Over rated.............i know i am new to this forum, and i know we are all entitled to our opinions, but that comment Is scarily inaccurate especially coming from a liverpool supporter.Im not wanting to start a war, just voice my opinion, and i strongly disagree with that statement.
Sorry.

As quoted from the Soccernet webbie.
"It has been rumoured that his contract saga and high self-regard has annoyed some of his team-mates. A belief that he is bigger than the club may not be the attitude to take with an arch-pragmatist like Benitez. Add to this the fact that is was Gerrard and not Xabi Alonso who was moved from midfield alongside substitute Didi Hamann in Liverpool's hour of need in Istanbul. Gerrard got the ball rolling but the Spaniard who kept it pinging to Liverpool players as the sting was taken out of the rampant rossoneri.
Could a cashing-in of Gerrard to the continent further fund a revolution? A defensive midfield player to complement the one-paced Alonso would allow Benitez to play two strikers. Gerrard's instinct to charge around is not always conducive to tactical rigidity. Liverpool to part with their European Cup winning captain after a penalties win? It's happened before. Graeme Souness went to Sampdoria in 1984. The reasons may be different and Gerrard would be missed, especially by the fans, but he may not quite be an indespensible as he and they believe." - John Brewin, Correspondent.
See what I mean? Steven Gerrard has this unhealthy ego in Liverpool and its affecting the players. He should be shown the door. I think Xabi Alonso and Hamann would be a better combo. =) No insults. Cash in on gerrard and get 3 more quality players! With all that extra players, we surely can cope with an injury crisis. We just don't have enough strength in depth!
