I've heard nothing as of yet... however, I doubt they are going to bring a too competitive line up.

Well, 25th May there will be the Champions League final and 12th-15th June the Italian Cup finals, so I think that Lippi is going to bring a second team.

Ya pretty much Italy and Serbia will bring a 2nd or 3rd string line-up and my prediction would most likely be a draw but with good performances by both sides.

I was thinking about buying tickets a few days ago since I don't live too far from the Skydome(RogerCentre), but the tickets are:
$50 = Very crappy far away seats
$65 = You can only see half the field while the other half is too far to see.
$100-$120 = Descent seats, although to pay that much for a game that won't promise excitement isn't worth it.
So as you can see the possibilities of buying tickets is pretty low.

Italy will whip Serbia's ass. The only reason the ex-Yuogoslavia did well in soccer is because of all the other republics in their federation.
Serbian team has a Balkan mentality and cannot beat European teams anymore.
it shud be a very awsm match they are both performin good in there grups, 1st and 2nd i belive?
Italy will win 3-1

I'll be going to this game on Wednesday.
Marcello Lippi announced the squad today and as expected it will be a purely experimental/2nd & 3rd string team.
GOALKEEPERS: Angelo Peruzzi (Lazio), Flavio Roma (Monaco), Matteo Guardalben (Palermo)
DEFENDERS: Andrea Barzagli (Palermo), Marco Casetti (Lecce), Giorgio Chiellini (Fiorentina), Dario Dainelli (Fiorentina), Fabio Grosso (Palermo), Massimo Oddo (Lazio), Cristian Zaccardo (Palermo)
MIDFIELDERS: Simone Barone (Palermo), Roberto Baronio (Chievo Verona), Manuele Blasi (Juventus), Carmine Coppola (Messina), Mauro Esposito (Cagliari), Stefano Mauri (Udinese), Giandomenico Mesto (Reggina)
FORWARDS: Cristiano Lucarelli (Livorno), Luca Toni (Palermo), Davide DiMichele (Udinese), Vincenzo Iaquinta (Udinese), Franco Brienza (Palermo), Antonio Langella (Cagliari)
As expected, this team is void of players from Roma & Inter (Coppa Italia Final still to be played), Juve (except Blasi) because they are on a tour of Hong Kong & Japan. And the Milan players are pretty much guaranteed spots should Italy qualify to the WC. Heavy emphasis on Palermo.
At any rate, I'll be happy to see players like Peruzzi, Massimo Oddo, Luca Toni (both of which should make the WC team), Lucarelli (leading scorer) and Roberto Baronio, who was a successful player in the U-21 set up back in 2000.

The thing is that both these teams are bringing B teams. That means that the game is going to be exciting because it is also a friendly. The 'b' players are going to be looking to impress their coaches, and their coaches are going to allow them to play more open style to see what they have got. This won't be a boring qualification game that ends 0-0, like both S&M's and Italy's last ones were.
I'm predicting a multiple goal game, open like the CL final between Milan and Liverpool.
I'm picking Italy to win this one folks. Obviously I am a fan and want them too, but more importantly they have a very good attack, and many young players in their lineup. For those of you that don't watch Italy often, you should know that whenever they tamper with new players the new players always play hard. They do this so they can make the team in the future. Not saying that this also won't be the case for Serbia. I actually believe that it will, so we should be in for a good game!

Sombor, Italy never blew a 3-0 lead - Milan did. Just in case you weren't aware there were 4 Brazilians, 4 Italians, 1 Argentinean, I Ukraine, and 2 Dutchmen...then a late addition from Portugal, on that team. Second, Milan wasn't really owned by Livvy...it was a tie remember? A tie in which Liverpool outplayed Milan for about 10 minutes and relied on some suspect keeping by Dida to get their first 2 goals and a questionable penalty.
Also...I was around in 1982 and remember that victory quite well, even though I know your ignorant jibes weren't directed at me. But I have to ask...were you born the last time Yugoslavia won anything?!?
Like say, the vice-champion of the 1968 Euro cup?!?
And were you around in 2000 by any chance? Because that's the last time I remember Yugoslavia/Serbia/Montenegro making a tournament...in fact, I think they were also in the qualifying group with Italy for the last Euro, is that correct?
This is friendly game, or supposed to be, where both teams (as I have been told) are not bringing their top players. I know this of Italy for sure. That means it should be an exciting one because there is nothing on the line, and new players want to impress their manager.
Maybe, just enjoy it instead of shit-talking.

Untrue, all the nations of the former Yugo republic have produced some very fine players and some still do, Serbia of note with Stankovic and Vucinic recently.
The only way that Italy will whip their ass is if the Serbs play very holey in defense and the young Italian strikers want to impress Lippi for future call ups to the NT. I doubt that the Serbs will play lazy in defense though. I think both teams will fight hard, especially if they are both bringing young players. Young players ALWAYS fight to make the NT, and a friendly like this is the perfect opportunity to shine.

Now now don't be like that, I did say you have great players. Sweet is an undertatement...more like PURE ECSTASY.
Don't take it so personally, I didn't insult you or your team, you're the one doing the insulting. Would you like me to call you a curac glava, uncivilsed slavic barbarian who drinks plumb brandy and sings outdated nationalistic songs.
I just said what the majority of people no doubt believe, and that is that Italy are historically a better team even though there performance at EURO 2004 was less than exemplary, but hey they didn't lose any matches and of course Serbia didn't even qualify.
You're also showing your unashamed jealousy by putting down Greece's glorious and historic victory at EURO 2004. A small country that crushed the traditional soccer powers. If anything there victory should be encouragement to other small countries, like Serbia, that it is also possible for them to reach such meteoric heights and perhaps if they use their 'heads' in more ways than one they'll be able to attain success. I doubt that will ever happen, but hey you can dream.
Now for being such an insulting curac glava, I want you to write 500 times:
Greece are the EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS and I shall refer to them as such UNTIL THE YEAR 2008!
Even if we never win another tournament again, we've achieved unparalleled glory! YEAH BABY! :p ;) :p ;) :p

You're making excuses again Sombor, pathetic one. Yugoslavia could do nothing, even when they had some superior Croats playing with them. Last I rememberd Yugo didn't qualify for 2002 or 2004, and got spanked in 2000 when Italy made it to the final.
I've never insulted Serb teams calling them pathetic, that would be a petty insult.

Well I haven't seen it for myself, but from what I heard you are talking shit. I was told that Italy's goal was spectacular and that Serbia's was very nice too. I was told (not by an Italian supporter) that Italy had some fine build up and chances in addition.
Serbias goal was sick he diked out the GOALIE! and shot it in, ur goal was a minor tap in, Serbia deserved to win.
He "diked" out the goalie, as in pulled it right out in front of him? What courage!!! :silly:
"A minor tap in" {dontcha just love how people minimize things in such a manner to help themselves feel better about...nothing at all...}
Congrats on tying the 3 Time World Cup Champion, in this "experimental friendly"
Cut out the newspaper clipping tommorrow and go frame it. That's almost like a World Cup Championshit victory. ROTFLMAO..... :rolling:
Seriously though, for all Serb supporters and Italian ones at the game, I hope it was an exciting one and worth the money you paid for it!!! Good luck to both, of course.
I'd love to read a breakdown from anyone who was there...sans the stupidities of course. What you thought was good by both teams. Which players played particularly well, etc.

Ciao Soccerates,
I was indeed at the game and will give my P.O.V.
Italy come out pretty strong. Many high balls to Luca Toni. About 5-10 minutes in he was brought down in the box. I was in the Skydome restaurant which is behind the Serbia goal. I had a crystal clear view of it. Toni made 1 extra move that he could have done without, but having said that he was clearly tripped. I would admit it if he dove, but he didn't. Later on in the first half Vincenzo Iaquinta did though. Which I have no problems admitting to. No sweat off my back.
Serbia scored a few ordinary goal to be brutally honest. Borderline offside, and was one-on-one with Peruzzi (who wore the captains armband) The Serb pretty much pushed the ball to the right of Peruzzi and slotted it in. Sort of like Baggio's goal versus Spain in 1994 (but hardly the acute angle Baggino had). Giorgio Chiellini made a sliding effort to the goalline and got there about a second too late.
A few minutes after the goal, Manuele Blasi gets his second yellow and Italy is down to 10 for the entire game. Canadian ref who is completely out of his element sends off a player in a F-R-I-E-N-D-L-Y thirty minutes in. I swear I've never seen a sending off in a friendly. And if I did, it wasn't after just a half-hour. Funny enough, the lineman working this game is a ref in our Winter Indoor league. I'm going to say something to him next time I see him.
Lippi is forced to substitute Esposito for Mesto for another body in the middle. At any rate, Serbia pretty much play better in the last 15 minutes of the first half, as expected since they are a man up. But Zaccardo barely missed the second post on a glancing header on a FK into the box.
Half <a href="http://www.ntsearch.com/search.php?q=time&v=56">time</a>.
At the start of the second half for about 10 minutes in, Serbia continue to play slightly better. They hit the outsiide of the goalpost on one occassion. And that's it for them. The rest of the game is completely and utterly dominated by Italy. One-way <a href="http://www.ntsearch.com/search.php?q=traffic&v=56">traffic</a>. Lucarelli is on for Luca Toni at this <a href="http://www.ntsearch.com/search.php?q=time&v=56">time</a> and later on DiMichele is brough on for Iaquinta. Italy are laying sieze at the Serbia goal. Lucarelli has a good chance soon enough but shoots too soft and right at the 'keeper. Barone then has a fantastic shot saved. Then the Italy goal. Fabio Grosso is on the left wing slips the ball between the defenders legs and goes around him. Puts a ball into the small box and Barzagli (I think it was him) makes an effort to put it in. The ball was a bit behind him so he sort of had to reach back with his left leg and tried to drag it in behind his body. He can't quite reach it, but Lucarelli is there behind him about 7 feet to side-foot it in. Pure estacy. The place goes nuts and Lucarelli celebrates by running to the bench.
To suggest the Serbia goal was better is laughable. Serbia's goal was plain and like I said, borderline offside. Italia's goal was TSN's "Highlight of the Night"
On the restart, Italy head downfield and keep the ball there looking for the go ahead. 3 minutes later Davide DiMichele missed a sitter. He was only about 8 meters out. He tried putting it over the 'keeper but the keeper got his arms up high enough. I classify this as a sitter. He should have definitely buried it from that distance.
All in all, the score was fair all things considered. If Serbia scored the second I think it would have been lights out. But if I had to give the advantage I would give it to the Azzurri. I mean, how can't you ? Italy were down to 10 men for over an hour (31st minute) !
And lastly, the Italy team arrived a day before from a 10 hour flight. Many players not getting any more than 3hours of sleep. Whereas the Serbia team were already in Toronto for 4 days.

BTW, not to be biggoted, but during the game and coming away from it (now 24 hours removed) I see Serbs in a whole new light. A disproportinate amount of them are primitive and uncouth.
The rowdiest bunch in the stadium was a group of Serbs underneath us. During the Italian anthem, they began to boo, but one of the guys in the group turned around and told them to stop. I mean really ? Booing an anthem in a friendly ? Anyways....
But that was nothing compared to what happened next. The 3rd world Serbs thought they were home and dry seeing as they were winning all game and Italy were reduced to 10 men. When Italy scored, they went beserk. Totally lost it. The group behind us turned around and faced up at us and started cursing, yelling and letting go with all sorts of hand gestures.
To the left of us, some morte di fame in a Red Star Belgrade jersey starts throwing punches. Likely at some smug Italian supporter. Security was on the scene but just when it seemed it stopped, it started up again. The commotion went on for about 5 minutes. I have one eye on Italy as they are down the field looking for the go-ahead, and the other to my left as some 3rd world git Serb gets hauled away by the cops.
After the game, a couple of Serbian whore's try getting on field to get the attention of a couple of the players. It was actually laughable.
Then in a space of 5 minutes, 3 yahoo's with Serbian flags jump on the field. They too get their 3-world asses hauled out by security/cops. Next thing, the yahoo's underneath us start lighting flares and toss then down below. Then outside the stadium, after the game, they started rocking a van.
Maybe I'm off-base on this but seeing as how Serbia went through a tough time in the last 15 years, I truely feel they have taken 2 steps back in development. Always looking to solve things with intimidation and fighting.
Mentally weak.

As for Italy players that stood out. GDS <a href="http://www.ntsearch.com/search.php?q=online&v=56">online</a> says that Mesto and Zaccardo were Italy's best. I liked Toni, Lucarelli, and Brienza. Late in the second half, Brienza absolutely OWNED the Serb left winger. On one play he took the ball away from him from behind so clean, it had the entire stadium ohh'ing. I though the worst was Vinzenco Iaquinta.
At any rate, down a man for over an hour and came away with a draw ? I'll take it.

Thanks for the rundown. I don't think you're being off-base considering the responses I got from some serb posters here when I asked for a game review. They seemed oddly proud of the behavior of some of their compatriots at the game. I don't think the degenerate ones at that game reflect the overall Serbian community though. I'd rather not think in extremes like that. But I mean really...you would think that they would want to avoid the stereotype of being aggressors and such especially after the beatings they have taken in the media for the whole Yugoslav war...some idiots just don't get it.
Sounds like it was a great game however. I'd like to see Lucarelli more often, and I've been reading good things about Grosso + Chielini. I really like Esposito as well. It's a shame that he was taken out so early because he has wheels and can skin defenders. Our attack has never been better, well I can't really say never...but it's damn fine right now and the midfield seems prett solid. Defense is still great and we have the best keeper in the world.
Instead of the Italy/Serbia game, the bar I went to was showing Argentina/Brazil, which is nota bad trade-off all things considered. It was a great game. Argentina absolutely overwhelmed Brazil and completely outplayed them for about 70 minutes. The secret to beating Brazil lies inthe strategy that Argentina employed because it eliminated their midfield presence and exploited the holes in Brazils defense par excellance. That secret is...don't let them have time to set up in the midfield. Brazilians love to get the ball and hold onto it. IF you give them time to dance, they have the skilled players that will dance. Instead, Argentina pressurized them and never gave them opportunities causing multiple turn overs. Argentina added some excellent one touch football to exploit the holes in Brazilian defence and within 4 minutes Crespo had his first of two goals. They kept up this pace till the 70th minute, when fatigue looked like it was taking over. At that point Brazil mounted a respectable comeback, notching a free kick goal by Roberto Carlos...a very nice shot, and a goalpost when Adriano held the ball and managed to side step two Argentinean defenders.
Argentina fully deserved the victory, and if Italy can play Brazil like that we would do well I believe....and like I said...my dream final would be Italy vs Brazil :rolling:

Yeah, I'd definately enjoy a Italy vs Brazil game IN THE SEMIS and see a Iran vs Brazil final.

To sum up this post, here is a picture of Ronaldinho in a cold bathtub after the Brazil Vs Argentina game.

Mentally weak.
wowwwwww buddy... u make it sounds like italians are perfect and dont cause shit... i was sitting in a almost all italian section with a few serbs, this one kid mabe ten years old got up after zigic scored and was yelling "SRBIJA" some 40 year old wannabe mobster tells the kid to shut up and sit down, the serb kids dad some scrony 50 year old tells the mobster to relax and calm down, the mobster then proposes to fight the serb dad... the dad just said he came here to watch the game....

Here's a message of a cyber-friend of mine (from another message board) who was also at the game. He's a cop, who is on crutches caused by an accident he had. Please. Even you know deep inside a disproportionate amount of Serbs under 30 have a chip on their shoulder.
"I was hit in the back with a water bottle, when I turned around the piece of shit noticed that I needed crutches to walk and promptly challenged me to a fight, even though I'm a cripple I still would have smoked his ass, lucky his bitch kept him in control."

I'm not Italian or Serbian but I personally could have gone to the skydome game since i live 1 hour away from downtown toronto.
The reason I didn't go was first of all they weren't my countries, secondly no good players were on the squads since they had more important things to do than to entertain a Canadian crowd, so they sent the youngsters and group b's.
Thirdly, the cheapest tickets were $50 in the top seats where you can't see shit, $65 tickets for seats that you can watch half the field but other half is crap to see, $115-$135 tickets for descent seats where you can see good and enjoy, but for that uch money I'd rather buy a pair of Adidas Predator Pulses rather than watch 2 countries without anything interesting to see for 90 minutes.

I'm pretty certain that your making this up given that you've never mentioned this fabricated "incident" in any of your other postings. You were also oddly proud of the violent behavior demonstrated by some select Serbian fans. What we can be sure of is that there was an incident involved multiple Serbian supporters who were beating on one other supporter, who was probably a fan of Italy. Don't you think this is cowardly behaviour? If not, you need help.

Serbs are a special type. I met a Serbian woman in London last year that had to be the most angry person I had ever experienced. They're pissed about the war in their country, and frustrated that the world has turned deaf to their plight or forgotten it altogether. I don't know much about the social dynamics that created a civil war in their homeland, all I know is that the generation of today that has to face the brunt of it are very hostile, angry, and in many cases belligerent.

firstly get it through your thick dimwitted head this is a forum so if i reply to one of your usual bigoted, racist generalisations
Now you're just downright lying. I've never made any bigoted or racist comments, and you're trying to turn my argument against you when you DID in fact make bigoted comments against Italians in the Mannshaft vs Azzurri (http://forums.soccerfansnetwork.com/showthread.php?p=407686#post407686) thread for everyone to see. But since you've painted yourself into yet another corner, I challenge you to produce the very thread that I made a racist comment in you coward. Come on, it shouldn't be hard for you to do it Arminia - show me exactly where I said anything racist, or be known for the cowardly liar that you are.
Second, if you want to talk about wit, why don't you show some instead of being a degenerate prick? Lastly, why don't you try using proper sentence structure to communicate your ideas. Here's a hint; sentences begin with (C)apitals and end with periods (.). Got it?
it dosn't make me a stalker, here's a tip, try writing something that dosn't offend other nationalities
I haven't offended other nationalities by highlighting your stupid comments and making you look duly stupid for them. Making fun of you is easy, you're a donkey with a bull's eye on your back.
Here's the thread where you made bigoted (a word that you didn't understand and confused with "racist") comments in, against both Italians and English:
http://forums.soccerfansnetwork.com/showthread.php?t=29793 - bigotry and stereotyping of the English
http://forums.soccerfansnetwork.com/showthread.php?t=29549 - bogotry and stereotyping of the Italian

Nachi that would be just fine, if you would show some consistency and warn your "friend" Arminius from doing the same, otherwise you're being a hypocrit in just warning me as Arminius has said some pretty insulting things about me personally. Also, if you are truly geniune in your request, please tell me where I only insulted Arminius or anyone else? All my postings have had soccer-related information within. I've only responding to Arminius in kind because of his slanderous comments.
So let's see some consistency and non-biased warnings issued...that is if you really are interested in talking football only, and aren't using your status as moderator to bully someone who has been on the other side of a debate with you?
Here are some examples for you to begin with:
"Stoked - Italian fans = Wussys" - that's an insult
"Stoked again - italian mobster buddies" that's stereotyping and also an insult to decent Italians
"Arminius - You're mentally crippled + thick dimwitted head + calling others idiots, etc"
Lastly, if you're really only concerned with only discussing soccer, you should warn Arminius for making slanderous accusations against me, saying that I made racist comments when I have not. This is worse than he being called a donkey, etc.
So, what's it going to be?

I noticed you haven't answered my question. What makes you think it is not important for Italians? And what makes you assume that it was ok for your comrad to denigrate them.
Go ahead Italian boy, shut er down...it ain't gonna get better than this, and if I see someone making ignorant comments I'll challenge them to think about their stupidities a littlemore. If it causes them to lash out like Milos here, then you can be pretty sure about his character...it follows his stupid and ignorant beliefs about others.
