Olympiacos 2005 Greek Cup winners

Olympiacos defeated 3-0 Aris in the Citibank-Greek Cup final held at the Pampeloponnissiako stadium of Patras (Greek Cup winners for the 21st time). An equal game was played during first halftime; Olympiacos made a good start onto the field (Djordjevic-Georgatos combination on 10΄, Taralidis powerfully delivering the foul on 13΄ but Pourliotopoulos made clear saves) and Aris answered back with strong defence and composed play to counterbalance (threatened Olympiacos΄ goal on 33΄-Kallimanis picked up the ball from Kouemaha and made an effort on goal). In second half Aris put on open play (lost a classic opportunity to go into the lead on 49΄ with Beniskos, who didn΄t manage to win Nikopolidis on one-one) giving Olympiacos the chance to use it to their advantage and find their way into the net with Djordjevic (56΄pen, 90΄) and Rivaldo (70΄). 18.000 fans attending the match created a fantastic atmosphere. Rivaldo was voted by Media representatives MVP of the final (PUMA sponsored).
