Some questions to test your knowledge on SChalke 04?

1) In which city did Schalke04 play their games in 2001?

2) In the first 100 years of the club’s existence, Schalke won the German championship seven times. When was the first time that they became champions of the German league (Hint: it was before the Bundesliga was founded)?

3) When the club was founded, many of its players worked in the same profession, and even decades later, the club was still associated with this profession. Which one is it?

The only thing I know, is that the year after they were 2nd in Budensliga we won them easily home and away in the CL :D.

1.They play in gelsenkirchen....was their something different in 2001.
2.their first league title was in 1934, they went on to dominate that decade.
3.miners...though most have been shut down now.

Excellent... you got those correct

answers to question 2
Schalke became German champions in 1934, 1935, 1937, 1939, 1940, 1942 and 1958, which means they were never champions during the Bundesliga. They won the German Cup four times (1937, 1972, 2001, and 2002). lol

answer 5: The standard salary in those days was 5 reichsmark... which was in itself not sufficient, so players had another job. Instead of the allowed 5 Reichsmark, 14 players from Schalke 04 received 10 Reichsmark, which made them professional players and was therefore illegal. Schalke had to pay a fine of 1600 Reichsmark and was excluded from the Westphalian Football Association for five months.

answer 8: Schalke’s manager Rudi Assauer dropped the cup from the wagon on which they were standing. After this accident, the cup looked really crooked, and a new one had to be manufactured.
