Any body with boxing experience here?
I need tips, becuase I want to join a club, where , Wolfgang Meissner ( former olympic medalist) has set up a acadmeny to train people for boxing. I seem intrested, and have only some summer camp training earlier. Does it require special diet or drastic change in lifestyle? Does it requirre some special shoes?

all advice is appreciated.

Ohh..you should watch the contender man. It's a reality show where aspiring middleweight boxers fight for the top prize (well,a main event fight in las vegas). The show gets a little emotional cos the boxers are fighting to support their family & stuff. And lastly, the show is co-hosted by Slyvester "Rocky" Stallone and Sugar ray leonard :) Great stuff

In asia,it is shown on AXN and in the States,NBC (the same station which aired The apprentice) ..Im not too sure in europe though.. Yeah Rocky does train a little bit and gives advice to the boxers..But they are mostly trained by Sugar ray and a guy named Tommy. One of the boxers resembles Cristiano Ronaldo and that guy is cocky haha.

yeah the reason why you say that is becuase you couldn't fight your way out of a paperbag. Boxing is the sweet science!!! It kicks ass BUT we need some new blood in the sport I'm getting tried of seeing Tyson getting his ass kicked and watching Holifield slowly being turned into a retard fight after fight!!

nachi88,

I have a friend that is a body builder and a tri-athelete. He joined a boxing gym for the workout and had to quit because they worked him until he puked and then told him to get up and keep going.

He said it was the toughtest physical endurance he had ever witnessed.

poutismalakas,

Shut the front door.

If the academy will train you, then they should be able to provide all the necessary tips, including diet, conditioning, etc.
It all really depends on whether you'd like to become a pro, compete as an amateur, or simply do it for the exercise.

I have a nephew that competes in amateur ranks - he has at least three belts. He and his trainer have now started a program at gym (owned by a church) where they teach people to box. I go to a regular gym, but every once in a while I go in and train with him - for the work out.
