Santrac accepts Macedonian challenge
Friday, 4 March 2005
Former Yugoslavia coach Slobodan Santrac is to take charge of the F.Y.R. Macedonia national team.
Contract until 2008
The Football Federation of FYR of Macedonia executive committee today handed Santrac a contract until 2008, making him their first foreign coach. The 58-year-old led Yugoslavia at the 1998 FIFA World Cup, and won 26 of his 42 matches in charge, before going on to coach Saudi Arabia.
Kanatlarovski departure
He replaces Dragan Kanatlarovski, who resigned after last month's goalless FIFA World Cup qualifying draw with Andorra, the visitors' first-ever away point. Santrac's new team are fifth in Group 1 with five points from six games, and his first match will be against Romania in Skopje on 30 March.
any opinion on how will fyr macedonia do with a coach like him?
i know he did pretty ok in france 98
