no,

the rangers, celtic would be at best, average teams in epl. Also they will not be able to compete with the epl teams financially. (unless ofourse they find them selves some abromavic character). In addition, they have a smaller fan base as compared to other epl teams, and the glasgow derby would lose its importance, as it would be between two mid level clubs and not two clubs that are trying to win the championship. Also, then the question wull arise, why only transfer celtic and rangers... why not motherwell, hearts etc.. IMO, celtic/rangers going to epl, will lead to financial loss, and relegation ( if not immediately, but in next few seasons) as a result of the financial loss.

Just like to say Nachi88 that Rangers and Celtic have massive fan base.

Remember Glasgow is still bigger than Manchester. Although technically greater Manchester is about 3 million people. But that includes towns like Bolton, etc. Glasgow is still about 500,000 people, as a opposed to Manchester (the City, not the greater area) which is closer to 450,000 people.

Remember Glasgow is effectively 2 club town. Hardly anyone supports Partick Thistle or Partick Glasgow. So there is nothing stopping the OF becoming giants in the EPL if they were given a decade or so.

Also the rivalry would not become less intense, even if both Rangers and Celtic were midtable. The bragging rights to be the best Scottish team in the EPL would be more than enough. The politics and sectarianism of the OF goes bast table position. And when Dundee and Aberdeen were the force in Scotland during the early 80's, and the OF were playing catch up, Rangers V Celtic matches were just as intense as ever. Please refer to 1980 Scottish Cup final riot, and you'll see what I mean! :silly:

Lastly I would love to see a fully inclusive British Football league. Welsh teams can play in the English leagues, infact there is nothing stopping Cardiff City from making the EPL, so why should the Old Firm be excluded?

The only bad part about Rangers joining the EPL, is that I would have stop stop supporting Man Utd. ;)

Utter Garbage, nachi88

First of all you say we wouldn`t be able to compete financially but Rangers & Celtic are already amongst the 20 richiest clubs in Europe and this is without the vast amounts of money that other clubs earn from tv. A move to the EPL would see thier turnover going up 30m+, therefore being able to attract a higher calibre of player. Now i`m not saying we would win the league as money doesn`t always buy success(see Inter!!) but there`s no doubt we would be able to compete. Also you say we have a smaller fan base compared to other EPL teams, again this is bollocks. Rangers & Celtic along with Man U & Liverpool are biggest clubs in Britain IMO and have a huge fan base compared to most other teams. And as for the old firm game loosing its importance....

when i said fan base, i didnt just mean the local city supporters, but fans world wide. The amount of intrest and revenue that clubs like Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal generate outside of england- in mainland europe and asia, is just amazing, They earn a lot through merchandising their stuff like t shirts, banners, mugs etc. The scottish teams havent yet penetrated the outside market to that much of an extent. Again, seeing over the years , spl teams performance in CL ( compared to english teams) has been lacklustre. Also the spl's big two are used to playing easy matches for most of the season ( motherwell, inverness etc) and when they come over to premiership.. there would be no such easy games ( maybe apart from ones against wba ) and so the fatigue factor will also creep in.

This is just a viw point, and please dont take it personally.

WE may not yet have penetrated the Asian market but Rangers made more money from merchindise last year than Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea. Only Man U made more FACT

Nachi88 you're digging a bigger hole for yourself.

The standard up in Scotland may not be the best but I'd put the fanbases of Celtic and Rangers up there with the best as far as world-wide support goes.

I'd rank them alongside the fanbases of Man Utd, Liverpool, Real, Barca, Bayern, Juve and the two Milans.

Remember, Ireland and Scotland sent a lot of their sons and daughters far and wide!

ya, the scots and irish are all scattered world wide, thats true. But i dont agree, that they are on same level as bayern, real etc... especially in standard of the game.

This might be a daft idea.

Let Celtic & Rangers into the Championship and let them try to gain promotion. Then we'll see how good they are. :worried:

rangers and celtic could hold their own in england , after a few years we would be signing top quality european players as we would have money from sky, also we woul fill anybodys away end in their own stadiums, we have everything in place to be a success but we are being held back, i dont think it would ever happen but would like it. two seasons ago in the uefa cup we knocked out liverpool and blackburn easily!

The gruesome twosome forces of darkness would only bring their particularly nasty brand of bigotry to a league that has lived without it perfectly fine. Now the mighty Jam Tarts on the other hand........ ;)

Oh, and HRVATSKA, can't remember if Zeljo are Croatian but if the are, how are they getting on just now? We played them in the UEFA cup and was wondering how they fare nowadays.
