Puyol sees future away from Barcelona

Barcelona skipper Carles Puyol has rejected the idea of signing a contract for life at the Nou Camp.

Barca president Joan Laporta has put forward the proposal of tying the club's best players to long-term deals, but Puyol is against the move.
"To play for Barça brings with it much pressure, there are many external factors that cause a player to undergo that pressure," explained Puyol.

"I feel calm, but I cannot say that I'm going to finish my sporting career wearing the Barcelona shirt, because I do not want to close the doors to other teams.

"For that reason, if they offered a long-term contract to me, I would not sign it."

Puyol has been in dispute with the Laporta regime over his £3.75 million-a-year contract, which is out of step with the club's current wage structure.

I disagree with that.I think Puyol is better in defending,but Marquez has other good qualities (e.g heading) .But you can't really compare these two at the moment since Marquez is playing the DM role while Puyol is in the CB.

Well then logically their it is Marquez not onlyplays corner back but also mid-defender!! Can puyol do that? No So that makes Marquez a much better defender because he's mobile in two positions!

Puyol is a great right back and Marquez is a great centre back, I think there even steven. I would take one of them for sure.
