Dear all
Can I ask something?
I have a really curious question something for you guys.
I know Bayern Munich so much, Bayern Munich is famous club
in the world,I think.
But what about Munich 1860?
I think this club is unknown well, but I saw their game on the TV,
there are a lot of supporters in their stadium.
I'm sure Bayern Munich is one of the most popular club,
But I don't know how popular Munich 1860 at Munich.
Does Bayern Munich more popular than Munich 1860 at Munich?
Munich 1860 is NOT popular club in Munich?
Which is more popular in Munich?
I'm so curious about this.
Thank you in advance.

hmmm, where do i begin.
Ok, as the name suggests, 1860 Munich, was formed as a sports and cultural club in the year 1860. At that time it had various sports like chess, body building, boxing, track events ,swimming etc but not football. This was time of great political upheaval ( u should remeber this was even before German unification of 1871) and communist ideas were sweeping all across europe. 1860 was a club of the working classes. It was in the industrial districts of munich. Thats why it attracted/attracts a lot of fans. The club is not very far from the hofbrauhaus keller (site of 1923 putsch). they started football in the early 1900's. And till almost the early 1970's this was the club that had more supporters than bayern munich ( which incidentally was a rich mans, upperclass club to begin with). But bayern were always more financially better off, and the west german govt wanted to put down anything that had anything to do with communism, so 1860 was neglected. Ofcoursse, bayern had better players also, and went on to win 3 cl's in a row in 70's. IMO the greatest ever CL team. Even till today, the industrial wokers tend to support 1860, but allmost all the younger people support bayern. Most of 1860 supporters switched loyalties after the 70's. 1860's fan list (they claim) includes Lenin(he was in refuge in Munich), Hitler, Heydrich, Schweitzer, Heisenberg, Kohl, and many more big time people. Nowadays all people in munich support both 1860 and bayern. and since 1860 is in bundesliga 2 , the two do not meet each other.
