Sports that absolutely DO NOT belong at the Olympics!!!

Sorry, Grobar - this might seem like a direct counter to your posted topic below, but this has been bothering me for some time. I'm sick and tired of having to put up watching "sports" that some idiot put into the Olympics. Here are some sports that no longer should be allowed to be legal in the Olympics

<LI>Equastrian - what the hell is that? If we have that, then why not throw in a dog show too! Get that upper-class rich people's hobby out of there! <img src=http://smilecwm.tripod.com/net6/nono.gif>

<LI>Beach volleyball - what genious decided to make this an official olympic sport? What's next in Athens? - beach soccer? beach basketball? - perhaps a little 3 on 3 hoop it up action? Get rid of this beach activity. <img src=http://smilecwm.tripod.com/net3/couto.gif>

I agree with you except, I think beach volleybal should be an olympic sport. Its becoming one of the most attended sports at the Olympics. Last night in male beach volleyball, I watched a Canadian pair take on a Brazilian team. The action was great the match lasted over 80 minutes, and up until the final score it was so close you couldnt have predicted the winner of the match. A sport which I myself really hate is gymnastics but I don't think they will take that sport out of the olympics anytime soon. http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Personally, I don't think FOOTBALL should be at the Olympics. Or tennis. And these are "big" sports. I never watch any of them on the Olympics. I don't know why I feel that way... I guess I just love World Cup too much...

I kind of agree that Synchronized swimming should not be an olympic event. However I know a couple of the England team and dated one for a few months http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/wink.gif. They are incredibly fit and devoted to their sport.

About PING-PONG, I disagree. I think it's cool, nothing special though. We are nothing in ping-pong, but I think Croats used to be good (Jugos, too?)...

You know what I think would be great?
To have MOTORSPORTS at the Olympics. Sth like F1, but they'd all be given the same cars. Imagine that? It would be a thriller. I think all F1 drivers would go and Bernie would definitely re-schedule F1 for that period of time...

Seka I think that motorsports would be a good ideal and I agree with that they would use the same cars. Anyway, I agree that Syncronised swimming is a bit lame, but as I used to date a member of the U17 Ebgland team (I am only 17 myself, so it was'nt like that!) I feel I have to point out that they are incredibaly fit and very dedicated to there sport. Not to mention flexible-my God!
