I don't understand the lineups that Riza Calimbay is coming up with (similar to the problem with Del Bosque). I understand that we have way too many players on our team, but Ahmet Dursun hasn't stepped on the pitch since he came over. Similarly, Ibrahim Akin hasn't done much either. Assuming all goes well and we don't get a red card or aren't losing, Veysel and Dursun should start together, and bring in Carew and Akin at the end. Carew has shown that he can't play 90 minutes of late.

I think it's time we start planning for next season. Hopefully we've cemented our 4th place finish and a spot in the UEFA Cup qualifying.

It's time to play I. Akin, F. Sonkaya, Berkant, and some of the other young guns to see what they can offer in the future. Riza should really try to get Okan and JuanFran involved as well. Even if he doesn't want to keep them, it will bode better for their future (e.g. transfers) if they are playing week to week.

There are way too many strikers at BJK: Carew, Youla, Dursun, Yeysel, Ahmed Hassan, Daniel Pancu.

I think that Pancu, Yeysel and Hassan should all be let go. Let Carew, Youla and Dursun work some magic with Ilhan Mansiz :)

I can't see it happening though. We'll end up having the same problem as this year when the next season starts...WAY TOO MANY PLAYERS. They'll juggle the lineup every match and we'll lose crucial points just like this year.

Turkish UEFA Cup hopefuls Besiktas JK have continued their team building for the 2005/06 season, signing Turkey Under-21 goalkeeper Volkan Ünlü.

Imposing youngster
The 21-year-old joins from FC Schalke 04 where he was understudy to veteran Frank Rost, making four appearances last term for the German Bundesliga runners-up. Besiktas will pay a nominal compensation fee for Volkan, whose move ends a seven-year stint in Gelsenkirchen. He is likely to be second choice at Besiktas behind Colombian Oscar Córdoba, who has agreed a new two–year deal.

Another key player committing his future to the Istanbul side is midfielder Sergen Yalçin, who has extended his stay at the Inönü stadium by an undisclosed number of seasons. "I was born at Besiktas, and I will leave football at Besiktas," said the 32-year-old.

Ali arrival

Though Carew is doing incredibly well for Lyon, the truth is, his transfer has basically paid for Ailton, Kleberson, Youla and Ali Tandogan.

i only watched himplay 1 or 2 of bjk's matches...he plays really well and likes to control the ball and plays skillfully...he will be a great signing...but i am sure bjk fans wont mind of his departure seeing as tho they have signed 2 or 3 big named players and sold Carew aswell. :D

He never really got a fair chance at BJK. Del Bosque loved him, but because the team was doing so poorly at that time, Juanfran was a scapegoat. I think Riza Calimbay resents him a little too because he was a symbol of Del Bosque's failed time at BJK.

Good luck to him. It will work out well for everyone if he plays well this season. We can sell him at the end of next year and hopefully recoup some of the money we paid for him :)

It's a good group, but I think we got quite lucky with the draw for the fixtures.

We play Bolton at home, as well as Zenit (as opposed to having to potentially play in the snow in Dec.). Going to Seville will be tough, but Guimares on the road could be okay.

I kind of have a mixed reaction to this. Fatih was great with Galatasaray, but at Fener I did not think he was very effective.

NO CHANCE Fatih is past it, Servet is the future. Fatih at his prime was as good as they come, solid, good reader of the game, great in the air & the tackle, but age has caught up with him.
Servet is coming back from a bad injury & if he has recovered it would be crazy to sell him. Plus he has something that FENER has been short of for more than 4 years, he is left footed.

Besiktas played one boring game today mannn, I mean going into the Bolton game they didn't show good signs at all! and then Tumer, one of those one chance players gets taken out by Riza hoca. The fans were mad at their own players for not playing well. Ailton missed some but COrdoba came up big on a lot of occasions. What I don;t like about Besiktas is they play too much with COrdoba. Everything goes back to Cordoba and he just long balls it all the way up to the forwards. This happens during the whole game.

That's not bad at all. Bolton is arguably the strongest team in the pool. Taking a point each isn't the end of the world. The next match against Sevilla will be very difficult and at least another point there would be ideal. Then we will need to take the full 6 points in Istanbul vs. Zenit and in Portugal.

Well we have a new coach Jean Tigana. Today we played in our Uefa cup and it was a bad game. We played a good solid 60 mins but from then on it was like hell. We conceded 2 goals in a matter of 5 mins and a late one to make it 3-0. Bad start for Tigana, but then again we were playing a classy Sevilla team away. HADI KARTALIM!!!

He is a very good player. Besiktas didnt give him much chances, he will find first 11 chance at Galatasaray here and there. He was really good when he was at Genclerbirligi as well.
