This will either be a very defensive and boring game or a historical game... they both respect each other and both have the capability to score a lot of goals. Japan has a slight edge with a good coach and Iran has the slight edge with skills.
anyone wants to guess who will win?
I say either a 1-1 tie or 2-1 for Iran since they're playing at home.

hmmmm, otn know, but IM STOKED FOR THIS GAME!
as long as Zico doesnt put up the same line as he did for the N. Korea game, im callin a tie (but it is very hard to actually say nething, becuz they are both such a good team)
I think Japan may have a slight advantage if they put up all their European players, but Zico hasnt announced the roster yet. Ive heard rumours that he is planning on bringing back Nakata Hide, and Inamoto, because of their preformances since they recovered from injury (Inamoto was VS England witha broken leg, and Nakata was last march, groin)

i say the score will be 2-1.
either for iran or japan. its gunna be a very close call. japan should have this game easily but zico is basically being stupid coach and bringing down the team with him.

Iran have to win..I think Iran is going to win with alot of stars like Hashemian,Karimi,Mahdavikia and....there is no doubt!!
I told my opinion about Iran-Japan in tehran but now I want to say that
I'm really sorry for Iranian girls and women that can't go to stadiums and and shout Iran Iran!!just like me..! and you don't understand how depressed I become when I watch other matches in other countries . I see women and girls that is very usual for them to go to stadiums and encourage their favorite team.. but I can't.........

I think Iran will take this one by 2 goals. Beating Iran in Azadi used to be impossible but it has changed, still I think Japan won't be able to win this one. Many blame Zico and how he uses the domestic players first but in an interview he has said that he will use the euro based players against Iran since it will be their toughest match, however I think using domestic players would be better! for both teams! you see both Japan and Iran have the most number of players in European leagues out of the asian teams, those players are the teams key players and they only get to have 1 or 2 practice lessons with the rest of the team before their qualifying match because their clubs won't let them go faster and therefore they don't adapt to the rest of the team's playing style and won't shine in the match and can't put on their best performance due to this. We saw this in the Iran-Bahrain match, Mahdavikia, Hashemian, Zandi and Rezaie all underperformed due to tiredness and lack of practice with the rest of the team, I think Zico did the right move by starting with domestic players and then bringing the euro based players later. Most people especially the japanese fans themeseleves disagree with me, but hey everyone has their own opinion. Whether the teams start with domestic league players or their euro based players like expected this should be one of the best if not the best of the qualyfiying matches. Can't wait :)

What about all the European based stars? Nakamura is having a really good season with Reggina, as he did with Asian Cup (MVP!) as is Takahara wit HSV. Okubo is a "put up or shut up" kind of person, and he proved it by scoring and assisting in his first game in La Liga! I have heard rumours that Zico is going to re-call former skipper Nakata Hidetoshi (who has been doing well with Fiorentina latley, ever since Zoff took over) and Inamoto (Injured VS England, but recovered, and is now playing a big part in Cardiff City.) There is also Nakata Koji, who has just been cleared for his move to Marseille. Ono has recovered well, but is still questionable.
There are not only the European based palyers, but J-League based players as well. Nakazawa (pic below) has had an amazing run since the Asian Cup, and Tamada has burst on to the scene, and is one of Japan's top strikers. Captain Miyamoto is also playing very very well since the Asian Cup.
Bottom line, as long as Zico doesn't stick with his 'All J-League' line-up as he did with against N. Korea a few weeks back, Japan and Iran should be a great game to watch! I am very excited about it....
Obviously Japan is going to win, lol (Only saying that because Japan is my home-town country!)

Iran has more talent, but Japan is more organised.

I agree. Put those together and they will both become world class teams, if they aren't already :)
Japan and Iran are two of the best teams in Asia. This will be a nice match!
