I thought that we should open a thread for albanians playing abroad. May be even better if there is a thread for each country where albanians play, especially if there are a few of them. We can discuss how they are doing, what is the local press saying about them, etc.
So i am opening on for Italy.

I heard that both TARE and Bogdani scored last week. Is that true?

Yes, they both scored: Tare the equalizer 4 Bologna, and Bogdani the 2-1 winner 4 Verona! And he is still the top scorer of Italian Serie B with 14 goals!!!
Also Arminia Bielefeld, where Ervin Skela, Klodian Duro and Fatmir Vata play, won 3-1 this weekend against Bayern Munchen, but neither of the albanians scored!!!

Besides Those players u've mentioned earlier we have Valon Behrami! the most talented and gifted player in the serie B scoring 3 goals in 20 games for Verona.

He is only 19 years old and has already changed 4 clubs in his carrier, he can play four positions which makes him OUTSTANDING! Right/Centre, Defence/Midfield.

This guy's hunted by teams such as: Juventus,Arsenal,Liverpool,Tottenham,Inter,Palermo et.c

But Juventus has already made an agreement with Palermo by buying him and then share him 50-50 so he will start to play next season for Palermo and then play for Juve.

Then we have Florian Myrtaj 27 years old, the albanian who is still owned 50 % by Parma but was recently sold from Verona to Catanzaro where he has had a huge succes scoring 3 goals in 5 games helping Catanzaro avoid relegation.

Yes, Berhami is a very talented player. Albania is trying to make him an Albanian NT player. Tough competition with the swiss though. He has been born in swiss. I am not sure if he has an albanian passport, but if he hasn't it will not be difficult for him to get one. The question is: will he choose Albania over Swiss? you never know.

I hope we will get him.

He hasn't got an albanian passport for sure. But the main problem is that he has never declared that he wants to play for the Albanian NT. And the swiss side is trying to keep him at every cost. We really need that player for our future plans and as you said it's not a problem to give him an Albanian passport, all we need is his agreement!

He hasn't got an albanian passport for sure. But the main problem is that he has never declared that he wants to play for the Albanian NT. And the swiss side is trying to keep him at every cost. We really need that player for our future plans and as you said it's not a problem to give him an Albanian passport, all we need is his agreement!

I think that in an interview he said that he was thinking of joining the Albanian NT. The swiss side plays him in the U21 team only. He wants to play for a real NT and Brigel is ready to offer him a strting position.

This weekend in Italy Tare, Bogdani and Myrtaj couldn't score. Behrami goes on playing pretty good, as he always does.
In Greece, Fortuzi scored again for Iraklis, this time against AEK, even if they lost 2-1. Salihi played again for Panionios, but he couldn't score to help his team to avoid the 2-1 loss against PAOK.
In Germany, Vata got booked, Skela played only 20 mins, and Duro wasn't even on the bench. Lala's Hannover lost 4-1, with their captain only playing for 64 mins.

Kaiserslautern set to get Skela

German side 1. FC Kaiserslautern have agreed a deal to sign 28-year-old Albanian international Ervin Skela on a free transfer from Bundesliga rivals DSC Arminia Bielefeld. The midfielder will move to Kaiserslautern at the end of the season on a two-year contract. Well guys I do not care if our players play well or bad in their clubs as long as they don't play their best for the NT.
Even if one of our players gets the Golden Ball it is useless if he does not give the maximum for the NT.

In Germany

The dream maybe over, but greater was the achievement

Probably the most awaited and emotional National Cup match for Albanians abroad was for those in Bielefeld where home team Arminia faced the mighty Bayern Munchen in the one match face off semifinal. From the other match-up played at an earlier time was Schalke 04 upsetting holders Werder Bremen after penalty shoot out. Ervin Skela and Fatmir Vata both started the game, but they got an early shock as they where hit on 3â€™ with a Michael Ballack goal. But encouraged by the very alive home fans, Arminia fought back missing quite a few chances to level the score, one time Ervin Skela had a beautiful shot in 65â€™ blocked by the most spectacular dive of the night from Oliver Khan. Bayern did get a second goal in 94â€™, amidst mixed emotions as Buckley of Arminia got red carded for dissent towards the match referee. Fatmir Vata played all 90â€™, and Ervin Skela was substituted 80â€™. Klodian Duro did not come into the match.

In Sweden

Less emotions, more action in numers

Orgryte was one of the big winners on the Svenska Cup First round match up. The away team, part of which is also Mentor Zhubi, won by the large score of 7-1 against Kalmar advancing to the next round.

Arsim Gashi also advanced but had to fight harder than his compatriot Zhubi, as his Atvidaberg side won away 2-1 to overcome lowly Kinna.

In Austria

Heartbraking elimination, the bitter beauty of the game

Sturm Graz fans and players will remember this match for a long time. After a disappointing ranking in the Bundesliga, all they hoped for was the cup. Fate had it to face Austria Vienna to decide who would join the last eight teams in contention. Although they had home advantage and played better throughout the game, Roland Gercalliuâ€™s Sturm lost on penalty shoot out 3-5.

In Slovenia

At last something that could be considered somewhat a good result

Maribor had a tough one coming as it seems that they underestimated Publikum in their semifinal National Cup match. Maribor playing at home conceded a goal since 4â€™ by a penalty made from Seslar. It took half an hour for Maribor to draw with Brezic on 33â€™ and an injury time goal from Teinovic to give them a vital 2-1 advantage going to Publicum for the return on April 27. Most likely they are going to face Gorica who won at home 2-0 against Nafta if they are to qualify. Kliton Bozgo seems to save his arsenal of goals for the league (15). He has not scored a single goal in Slovenian Cup thus far.

In Switzerland

Semifinals in Albanian colors

Blerim Xhemailiâ€™s Zurich booked a place in the final of Swiss Cup. They beat 3-1 Young Boys of Johan Berisha. The other finalist is Luzern of Genc Mehmeti which beat Aarau of Behar Fejzullahu and Argjend Beqiri 2-1. Four last teams in Swiss Cup had Albanian contingent leaving way to having an Albanian lifting the Swiss Cup this year.

Back to league action, goals, wins, and only few weeks to go.

In Italy

In a match day that was sparked by the number of draws, seven in ten games played and the catch up of Milan to Juveâ€™s pace, Albanian players also tried to leave a mark, but it was the Serie B players that did that. In Serie A, Igli Tare saw from the bench his side Bologna drawing 1-1 at Lecce.

In serie B, Erjon Bogdani finally unleashed everyoneâ€™s fear including his own that he was done. He is not done. He striked for Verona in 27â€™ to make it 1-0 against Treviso. Cossu added one more after the immediate equalizer by Bellotto. This was Bogdaniâ€™s 16 goal of the season. He also got a yellow card but he did not care about that. He got that long awaited goal. He was also subsited two minutes from time. Not very happy days for Valon Behrami, he played until 41â€™ and then replaced by Angan.

Catanzaro lost 2-3 at Pescara but Florian Myrtaj did not get any playing time. The first days of happiness at the new club seem to be very long ago.

In England

Birmingham lost again, this time at Manchester City. The game had no story as the home time had three answered goals. The story is that Njazi Kuqi did not play again. It seems certain that he will be one of the departing assets of the club this summer.

In Switzerland

Allmir Ademi entered the match in 77â€™ and Albert Bunjaku was missing in Schaffhausenâ€™s home draw 2-2 against Grasshoppers. In the other match, Behar Fejzullahi left the pitch at 76â€™ for Aarau as they got hammered at home by leaders Basel.

One level lower, Rahim Shala scored first goal of the match in his Lugano away draw 2-2 at Wil.

In Serbia & Montenegro

OFK Beograd continued their winning ways by coming back from trailing 0-1 at Sutjeska and winning 2-1. This time Ardian Gjokaj did not score but he is showing to fit in more and more to his team. They still trail Partizan Beograd by five points.

Crunch time for Bologna. The Igli Tare's early effort proving enough for a crucial victory at the Stadio Ennio Tardini. The Albanian strikerheaded Vasile Nastase's cross past keeper Sebastien Frey, to give his team the lead. After that, Bologna never looked back and got themselves in a perfect situation to sustain themselves half way through the battle of “survivors” from relagation.
