And people need to get over what he did at 2004. I'm not, nor have I heard any other reasonable fan, condoning his actions...but being at that game if you saw what the Danes were doing to them you would have understood. From the beginning he was double-teamed, and constantly subjugated to violence by Danish defenders including:

- Kicks to his heels as they ran past him
- Kidney punches
- Pulling on his "pony tail"

This all of this occured off camera, and against the run of play, while Totti was waiting for service, or when Denmark was in Italy's end. I was about 20ft from the field and witnessed the whole thing along with other fans who kept booing the Danes.

Totti constantly had Danes surrounding him, giving him a variety of cheap shots such as the ones mentioned above. At one point he even went to the linesmen to get them involved, but they were uninterested. It's ironic that a Danish camera man caught him on tape, isn't it? They had their man follow him around the whole game looking for such an incident. I'd rather that he didn't get so distracted by their cheap shots and instead put his focus into the game, because he's one of the best players in the world as evidence of his statistics for Roma.

And Nachi, you wish that Germany had a player with his ability...no Ballack doesn't count.

There was MORE that happened off-camera when the play was in Italy's end...they gave him kidney shots, pulled his hair, etc. It was ugly.

I was at the game, as I said in the review. I was 20 ft from the field in a smallish Guimares stadium that it was played at. I was in the "neutrals" section which had both Italians and Danes. Everytime it happened, even some of the Danes sitting next to me were waving their hands at their players for bad sportsmanship. There is also video evidence of Totti running to the linesman and mimicking the Danes by indicating they were pulling his hair. The linesman waved him off.

Trust me, everyone in the same section saw it...it was an attempt to take him off his game, and it worked because he retaliated and spat at the player, but the other player was guilty of being just as cheap, in fact several of them.
