Albania hatch plan to contain Shevchenko

Albania will not deploy man-to-man marking to combat Ukraine dangerman Andriy Shevchenko in Wednesday's World Cup qualifier, coach Hans-Peter Briegel said on Monday.
"Man-to-man marking is outdated, we shall try to contain them by playing a zonal defence," German Briegel told a news conference at Albania's team hotel.

Striker Shevchenko, the 2004 European Football of the Year, is likely to play in the Group Two qualifier in Tirana having made a fast recovery from an ankle injury that was initially expected to rule him out.

Albania, who beat European champions Greece in September, lie fourth in the group on six points, the same tally as Turkey and Denmark. Ukraine top the group with 11 points.

Briegel said striker Igli Tare and midfielders Lorik Cana, Altin Haxhi and Altin Lala would definitely start for injury-hit Albania.

He has called up uncapped defenders Armend Dallku, Tefik Osmani and midfielder Hansi Agolli to replace his first-choice players Elvin Beqiri, Besnik Hasi and Edvin Murati.

Briegel has also recalled striker Erjon Bogdani, who has scored 14 goals for Verona in Italy's Serie B this season.

I don't think we have a lot of choices. Defence worries me since all of the defenders are new and they haven't played with one-another. Midfield is good, no worries.
Attack is another weak point. TARE has been injured and hasn't played enough recently. i hope Bogdani will prove well.
It is going to be very tough.

I ftohti i ditëve të fundit ka për të qenë i pranishëm edhe në ndeshjen e 9 shkurtit. Por diçka na bën të parandiejmë se nuk ka për të pasur as ngricë e as borë. Kanë për të qenë ata 15 mijë frymët që do të shkrijnë akujt dhe erën e ftohtë ukrainase. Po jetojmë me borën, e cila, veçmas bardhësisë së ëmbël, fsheh edhe rrugët, por të gjithë "bijtë e shqipes" sot do të jenë aty, së bashku si gjithmonë, duke brohoritur për 11 kuqezinjtë tanë. Bora nuk mund t'i ndalë "Dardanët", "Tifozët kuqezinj", "Kuqezinjtë e Gjakovës" si dhe të gjithë shqiptarët e tjerë jashtë kufijve të Shqipërisë për t'u mbledhur dhe për të gëzuar së bashku atë që parandiejmë të gjithë.
Sot, më 9 shkurt, edhe një herë, "Qemal Stafa" ka për të qenë teatri i vetëm, ku do të vihet në skenë pasioni, dëshira, vuajtja apo triumfi i një nate. Edhe një herë do të jemi të gjithë tok për të mbështetur ata 11 njerëz, të cilët, ashtu siç kanë bërë së fundi, kanë shndërruar net të rëndomta në festa të hatashme. E kanë bërë dhe do ta bëjnë. Kësaj here, Ukraina nuk do të ndeshet me Shqipërinë në shtet tjetër, kësaj here ata e dinë se do të vuajnë. Njëri mbi të gjithë, trajneri Oleg Bllohin. Shqetësimi i vetëm, të paktën ashtu siç ka deklaruar vetë ish-lojtari i madh, për ndeshjen e sotme kundër kuqezinjve mbetet tifozeria e "Qemal Stafës". Perifrazimi i tij ishte i qartë: "Tifozeria do të ndikojë shumë në psikologjinë e lojtarëve. Ata nuk pushojnë një minutë." Kishte parë kasetën sërish ndeshjen me Greqinë dhe ishte mahnitur.
Bora sot do të shkrijë. Ajo nuk mund të zaptojë dhunshëm pjesën më koreografike të tifozëve, që bashku me bashkatdhetarët e tyre të tjerë nga vendi e diaspora do ta shndërrojnë tempullin e futbollit kuqezi në një kazan gjigant, ku do të vlojë dëshira dhe ëndrra jonë. Sot, më datën 9 shkurt, Ukraina do të ndeshet me Shqipërinë në "Qemal Stafa". Ata nuk kanë luajtur kurrë më parë në Tiranë. Ata nuk e kanë parë Tiranën të festojë, por natyrisht do të kenë fatin, që për ta është i keq, ta shikojnë qytetin-metropol të vendit në festë. Biletat kanë kohë që kanë dalë "jashtë qarkullimit", një pjesë ka udhëtuar jashtë kufijve, kuptohet për t'u kthyer prapë mbrapsht, por kësaj here me një padron.
Në një ndeshje futbolli, qëllimi i së cilës është të argëtojë publikun, synimi i kuqezinjve tanë do të jetë më ndryshe, argëtimi është lënë për më vonë, në përfundim të 90 minutave. Ne do të kërkojmë fitoren e shpresës së madhe! Ka për të qenë një natë e ftohtë, por ftohtësinë e saj do ta thyejnë djemtë tanë, duke e lënë atë vetëm në njërin kamp, tek ata që me të ftohtin jetojnë përditë. Më datën 9 shkurt, në stadiumin kombëtar "Qemal Stafa" do të luajë Shqipëria. Kaq mjafton për të nisur ftesën.
Dhëntë Zoti të jetë kështu, që të gjithë së bashku, edhe pse në këtë të ftohtë të madh të këtij fillimviti, të festojmë me madhështi si më 4 shtator, kur mundëm kampionen e Europës, Greqinë.

I think that our problem is the offense rather than the deffense. Does anyone know what's going on with Behrami? We might need him.
Fortuzi and Salihi seem to be doing well in Greece. I think they should be given a chance. We should not have the same guys always. Especially Tare. He is useless.

I tshould depend on the type of opponent and the tactics we choose to play. E.g i was expecting Bogdani to play and not TARE. The problem i think was that bogdani had not played with the team before and Tare had. /i think Briegel has to try new players i the friendlies. not the whole team, but some.

Yeah but the problem is that we don't need somebody to keep the ball in his pocket all the game. We need somebody to score. Tare can score only headers and for that we need some good passer. I think that we should play Bogdani for once and see what happens.

The problem is that our strikers are getting older and older! Tare is totally useless, because we don't need to keep the ball, as he does, we need a fast and "cold-blooded" striker who resumes a bit Gerd Muller or Paolo Rossi, and we've got Bogdani. And the last offensive problem is finding someone to serve good balls to the striker: Bushi is too old and keeps the ball too much for himself. The best substitutes for him would be two very talented youngsters, who showed also good scoring abilities, Hamdi Salihi (he's top scorer of Super League even if he left in the begining of February to Panionios Athens) and Gjergji Muzaka. So that's it, that's our offensive part. As for the midfield, it is really good, and we should find also a good central defender, since Geri Cipi is not as precise as he was till a year ago. Also his substitute is ready: Armend Dallku (from Kosovo, playing for Elbasani, debuted with the NT against Ukraine). With all these youngsters, Albanian NT would have a bright future assured, and even if we won't qualify for the WC Germany 2006, we would have a good basis for the Austria/Switzerland Euro 2008 Qualifiers.

Strakosha is not playing for sure, he hanged up his boots. I wrote sth about him and some other unpleasant stuff in the NEWS thread!
