Ok check out what happened. Like the good and responsible student that I am, I went yesterday and bought a book ($69 !!) for a class that I have today.

Today was the first class (btw, its Programming C++) and this professor walks in and says that we will be using the older edition of the book. He says that he does not like the new edition (the one that I bought) and that we will need to have the old one for class. But, since the nice campus bookstore returned all the old editions last semester they only have the new ones! So now this f*#khead of a teacher expects us to find the book where ever we can.

WHAT THE HELL??!!

I felt like walking right up to him, punching him straight in the face and saying "MRSSHH PICKA TI MATERINA!"

I copy the books for my classes so I avoid these kind of situations. http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Well, I feel much better now. I found the "correct" book, so when I fall asleep during upcoming classes, at least I'll be drooling on the right book!

By the way, have any of you ever taken C++ before? People that I know, whom have taken it before have scared me with stories of having to spend the whole day writing a program, and if you miss one little iddy biddy detail, the whole program ode u picku materinu.

Well except for that class, all the other ones are all right http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Violet - it's not that easy to just "copy" books.

suck shit man
you got one of the hardest programing subjects you could have gotten, it's a piece of shit that rips your patients out. Just wait till the 6-7 hour study sessions kick in or have they already????

Well I had very little choice. I have to take one programming course, and between C++, C for engineers, Pascal, and visual basics, I didn't hear one good thing about any of them. And supposedly, C++ is an introductory course for programming so it should be the "easiest".

I just don't see the point of writing little pointless words and symbols, just so on the black screen it will say "Hello" (that was our first lesson by the way).

F*#k, IF I WANNA MAKE THE COMP SAY HELLO, I'LL JUST WRITE IT!

Here..

<font size=+1><CENTER>HELLO

<FONT SIZE=+2> HELLO

<FONT SIZE=+3> HELLO !!!!!
</FONT SIZE=+3></CENTER>

Sorry...... I let my anger get the best of me http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/smile.gif

Worst experience I had with a prof. was in a history course I took. Among other books, we had to buy one he wrote. The book was $70.00, and as it turned out, we were not tested on a single thing from it. That is not what really pissed me off. The day after the last possible day to sell the book back to the bookstore, he announced he was publishing his new book, and it would be used the following quarter, and we could not return the one we had just purchased. I was really pissed...

Well, in my case, several times, there was no book and you had to attend all the classes to have something to study from...

How's that?

Mirkwood - I hear ya man! The worst books to have in a class are the ones written by the actual professor!

Seka - yes, but you were educated in a young ex-Socialist system. We are talking about America here http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Sorry, dude. We're talking about some classes in LJ Law school. The reason for books not written is that we were changing our old socialism-based law...

And I'm glad you're enjoying American educational system. You're becoming a true American. Hope to see you in Harvard, rich kid http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/wink.gif Way to go, Ivan!

BTW, I was making those HELLOs back in socialism... http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Law school, eh? Cool - what type of law are you studying?

I never said I was enjoying American educational system http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/smile.gif But I am appreciative. Its 1000 times easier then the ex-yu/current yu system. Its just horrible what they are making those kids do over there. And I'm sure, in Slovenia its just as tough. Just because you guys changed from "socialism", it doesn't mean that you are going to allow your youth to get lazy.

Harvard - malo sutra.... rich kid - hopefully soon http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Yeah, man. Ex Yu sistem was a bitch. We knew EVERYTHING. Professors had such power like you were in the army (OK, exaggerating a bit http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/smile.gif )...

When you study law, you study law. It's like when you study medicine. You can't say: "I'd like to choose bones and heart only..." http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/wink.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/wink.gif That's why it's hard. Sometimes you gotta know all procedures and all material law to solve a single case.

Hopefully, I'm entering my senior year this year. And in senior year you can choose some special courses beside the general ones. I'll be choosing some special classes of civil law (like intellectual property, transportation law, insurance law, stuff like that...), although I do fancy criminal law aswell (helps you when you wanna kill sbd http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/wink.gif so I could use that type of special knowledge http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif)... All other specialization comes with Master's degree and PhD...

Ok gotcha!

In Serbia, when entering Law school you can either choose the 'general law' or the 'MUP law' (Unutrasnji poslovi)

We have administrative law = upravno pravo, as well (senior year, mostly procedure), but what you're talking about is the school for administrative workers. We have Visoka upravna šola for that and that's another faculty.

I heard Belgrade Law school used to be great, but today I think Yugo law is like T-Rex... You still have some neuklonljivi professors there as I hear. I often think about young students in BG studying law... Man, there's no perspective for them. Wages are relatively low in Yuga (lawyers, judges... earn not more than 10% of Slovenia's and even Slovenia's earn not more than 20% of Western Europe...), plus they can't go abroad with their knowledge... If you study for an engineer, at least you can leave and earn some decent money...

My friend from Serbia tells me there's a lot of apatija among students regarding their future. I think that's the worst thing of all. http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/frown.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/frown.gif
