It has been revealed Barcelona have an option on Real Betis winger Joaquin.
AS says Betis would have to accept a bid from Barca if it matched the highest on the table at anytime. The clause was negotiated three years ago when Barcelona striker Alfonso moved to Betis.
Joaquin's contract with Betis runs to 2010 and he has seen a £22 million bid from Chelsea and a £10 million offer from Manchester United turned down by president Manuel Ruiz de Lopera this season.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta is now considering entering the race for Joaquin, whose buyout clause is £25 million. Barca have never adequately replaced Luis Figo on the right-side of midfield since his defection to Real Madrid.
Barca midfielder Gerard could be offered to Betis in part-exchange for Joaquin. Gerard is off contract in the summer, but could be sold to Betis before June so to strengthen Barca's hand when the auction for Joaquin opens in the summer

Joaquin is a great player but where would we fit him in the Barca line-up?

You'll have to bench Giuly or Iniesta.

and there is talk of selling guily, so he might just end up at barca after all

No, no, don't think about it...
Joaquin has told many times that, if he leaves Betis, the only Spanish team he would go is REAL MADRID
Real Madrid again!
Good luck!

I'd really like to see Joaquin of the right side of 3 Strikers.Altough giuly is a great player,he lacks the physical presence. In terms of long-term investment, buying Joaquin could prove to be a great buy since giuly is 28 years old(so he is prone to injury). But one player i'd really like to see in Barca is Del Horno.Barca hasnt really threaten the opposition in corner kick situation, though Marquez and Gerard are good in those situation. But apart from them? none. And talking of scoring goals from corners,Del Horno is the man.He has prove time and time again by scoring against Real (HAHA! Victims) and against England.
:) just my two cents.

Hey Nuaro, are you a Barcelona fan? Come back posting a lot man. I personally am not a huge fan of Joaquin and I think that all the possible transfers should be dealt at the end of the season. This new project of Barcelona is going super well and we don’t have to start crazy spending.

Hey.
Yes,i am a barca fan.Infact,it's pretty safe to say i'm the biggest barca fan in Brunei since the country is so small and most matches broadcasted are from the EPL's.And yes, they are football fans here, but they are much into the Manchester-Liverpool thing, and they brag how good the EPL teams are.
Alright, back to the topic.I am a fan of Joaquin and ive been following him eversince i saw him the 2002 world cup(although he missed the penalty for spain. ouch!).I do agree that all these talks should take place offseason since Barca is doing excellent this season. But in two years time,i dont really see giuly playing back to back matches in the liga fixtures.Joaquin is still young and would want expose himself in the bigger stage(CL).And the best thing about him is he could penetrate opposition's defence.Although, his playing style does resemble a little bit of Quaresma, and Barca does have an option in bringing back Quaresma(if im not mistaken). But then again,it's all down to the Laporta,Rijkaard and the barca staff.
