Bremen's new striker to miss several weeks

BREMEN, Germany (AP) - Werder Bremen's new striker, Mohamed Zidan, will miss the resumption of the Bundesliga soccer season this weekend with an ankle injury that is likely to keep him out for several weeks, the club said Monday.


The defending champion brought the Egyptian on loan from Denmark's FC Midtylland during the winter break to replace Angelos Charisteas, who left for Ajax Amsterdam.

Bremen has an option to sign Zidan at the end of the season.

Zidan was injured during an exhibition match against Hamburger SV. Bremen, fifth in the standings, kicks off the second half of the season with a trip to Schalke on Saturday.

Shame that he gets injured so quickly.
It seems like a lot of players are getting injured this season. And they aren't minor they are quite serious injuries. Like that player in Holland's second division who will never play soccer again. I'll find the article and post it later. :)

is he the replacement for charisteas. I guess he wouldnt play that much, becuase klasnic and klose are doing good at the moment.

This is kinda Old, and he has been taking alittle time to get to this high level.. after winning the African Cup with Egypt and with his fabulous performance I expect that the player will be linked with some big names.
