Atletico Madrid have joined the race for Real Madrid midfielder Santiago Solari.
The Argentine will not be offered new terms by Real and can leave the Santiago Bernabeu on a Bosman at the end of this season.
Solari has already held talks with Barcelona, but his £2 million-a-year personal demands are proving too steep for president Joan Laporta's new wage structure.
Atletico are in a similar position, but sports director Toni Munoz knows Solari is settled in Madrid and hopes he will lower his asking price to remain in the city and sign with Real's big rivals for next season.
Since this is a big deal, I figured I'd make a thread for all the news. ;) :D
Anyways.
I'm glad Moro and Solari are getting so much attention.
Isn't it sad when the team history is losed so easy. It was no longer ago when Redondo a captain and supporters favourite was realeased almost on free ( 4 mil if i'm not wrong) and now players who give their all for the club are almost at the same situation for players named "galacticos" absolutely strange from team's history. Redondo, Savio, Mcmanaman, Geremi, Makelele and many others where dedicated to the club they where not superstars but they all did their work without complains :( All we hope now is Moro and Solari don't follow all the mentioned above (sorry to say but this may be for their worst)

I think that with the new coach certain things should change, and the rotation of players is one of them, the main problem of Solari and Morientes is that they're not given enough chances to play, we'll see what's gonna happen next, but I tell you this: there will be no transfer -in or out- until Luxemburgo get to know all the players, he asked for some time to think about the necesary moves in the market, he said that in 15-20th of this month he will be certain on which players he need and which don't.

Moro played in the 6 minute match, he started. :)
So maybe Lux liked him or something.
I heard they played three up top, anyone can confirm this?
Solari should be played as well. I hope Lux is a smart man.

Solari started today, and he scored.
I think that Lux is gonna keep this Argentinian. ;)
He seems to like him.
Good to hear.
Moro also got playing time today. Not much, but he did.

Solari has stayed long enough in Real and showed enough loyalty. But his loyalty was stretched to the limits when Real didn't want to extend his contract and rivals are approaching his services.
Enter Luxemburg. Came in, and put Solari as a first teamer in the match against Atl Madrid. We have always diccussed that Solari is good enough to be in the first team and not given the fair chances.
Now, Luxemburg put him in and he proved by scoring. Let's hope he don't leave. He is very skillful, experienced, good shooting and can defend too. (He played as leftback b4)

Luxemburg is reviving this teams full potential from the money hungry eyes of Perez which will save this team from losing great players like Solari and Morientes.
I think this coach is the one after 2 very successful games which I couldn't watch because of stupid Canadian Hockey games that take it's place on my 2 sports channels! :mad2:

maybe they can rotate raul n ronaldo with moro n owen. moro n owen makes a good pairing, such as raul and ronaldo.

That's what they are doing in the Copa del Rey, if I'm not mistaken.
Owen and Moro started upfront.
Solari started there as well, scoring, one or two I'm not sure it was a while ago. :D
Anyways, yes, if Lux rotated our strikers I think we would be even more deadly upfront.

What are you saying?
I think you miss understood me.
Owen and Moro play upfront for all the Copa matches.
Just like Cesar played keeper all last years.
Then in La Liga, we should rotate strikers. :)
Make sense, or were you saying something else.

I think what Lux is doing is very smart because that was exactly what AC Milan and Barcalona did at the beggining of thise season which was replacing strikers and players over all enabling them to get more rest before thier game, and most importantly letting many players get a chance to play and develop.

i meant their only a few copa matches compared to the league games. meaning if lux only uses moro n owen in the copa they wont be happy plus the 1st team will still get tired cos they'll play league n CL

relly. hmm.. hes awite. not too bad
he's back and i don't think his loan was too good he has scored only twice in 12 or 13 matches. Hope back in real he'll show his form from two years ago when he was the "golden" substitue :)
Madrid comeback for Portillo
Striker Javier Portillo has cut short his loan spell at ACF Fiorentina to return to Real Madrid CF.
Morientes move
The 22-year-old agreed to spend the season on loan with the Serie A side during the summer after Michael Owen's arrival at the Santiago Bernabéu saw him fall down the pecking order, but Fernando Morientes's departure for Liverpool FC has persuaded the club to recall Portillo.
Italian spell
Madrid considered promoting striker Roberto Soldado from their B team, but have instead turned to Portillo, who holds the record for goalscoring at youth levels with Madrid. Portillo played eleven Serie A games and two Coppa Italia matches and scored once in each competition.

Shame.
Soldado is quite good.
What a great man.
Shame they didn't let him bring him up.

Fiorintina is a strong side in Seria A, I`m sure he`ll get more experiance there.

As do I.
Unfortunatley he thinks that he will get time here.
I think we should have just let him stay there, and let Owen be our other striker.
Then, if we needed bring in someone else. Like Soldado.
Liverpool beat Man Utd, Barcelona for Real Madrid's Solari
tribalfootball.com - January 23, 2005
Liverpool have reportedly pipped Manchester United for Real Madrid midfielder Santiago Solari.
The Argentina international is off contract in the summer and has been speaking with United, Barcelona and AC Milan about a Bosman move next season.
However, the Daily Star Sunday says Reds boss Rafa Benitez has convinced Solari to snub United and join Liverpool where his Spanish-speaking contingent will help the midfielder settle quickly in England.
Contract renewals postponed
Luis Figo asked Real Madrid for a swift decision regarding his future, Celades and César almost left for other clubs when the transfer window opened on January 1st and Casillas's contract finishes on 30 June 2006, a short time in football terms. The club, however, is concentrating on the present rather than the future and will not make any decisions regarding the renewal of contracts for some months.
1. Solari
The Argentine midfielder ends his contract this summer. The club's intention is to offer him a contract based on performance, with which he might earn up to 3 million euros net per year, his current salary.
2. César
A number of teams were interested in signing him when the transfer window opened, but the club decided it was too risky to have just one professional goalkeeper for the remainder of the season. It doesn't look like he will be renewing his contract this summer.
3. Celades
A very simlar case to César's. He had some offers to leave a few weeks ago but continues with Real given the club's lack of players in his position.
4. Casillas
His contract ends in June 2006. His renewal negotiations will probably top the list of priorities for the club, which hopes to keep Iker for many years to come.

Ummmm so Perez is looking if Solari is worth of a contract renewal....haven't he seen him during the last years?!?!? I personally am sick of this guy, he shouldn't be running a football club, and even less one as Real Madrid....

Solari has always been a great player, not only when he scores. And he is too good to sit on bench and come on to the feild the last 10 mins or less even! A move to Man Utd wouldn't be so aweful, as long as he'll be playing.
^ funny, i posted a few days ago that a move to ManU would be interesting. and i red on as.com that there's been some talks between Solari and ManU....
Solari could play on the left side while Giggs plays just behind Rooney since Van 'the man" is still out right?

Solari would be Giggs' successor.
Apperantly, even though Solari is in his late 20s.

Yes indeed.....players have outrageous salaries....
Anyway I just hope Solari get more minutes on the field now...he really deserves them, probably more than anyone else.
Let bring back this thread to life :)
Solari was amazing currently, scoring in more than 50% of his appearances and as he's midfielder this is amazing. Seeing this shot (against Getafe) and knowing his wonderfull skills i think he may be as good as Ronaldinho but sadly the world of not so well informed spectators will never see him like this because of our "superstars". This boy has the abilities to be the best player ever played in Real but he was undervalued and unused for really long time. Del Bosque was the only one who has full faith in him and he paid well for this ( i'll never forget the goal he scores against Lazion - one of the first appearances i saw him, and what a first impression) why coaches and prezidents of real doesn't hear the voice from the supporters and start using him as he deservs, can't we do something ? He's the only one (expect Cassilas and Gravesen) that's playing well everytime he enter the pitch and he's still staying as ever sub ?!??!?
yeah, solari should be a regular starter imo.. he's a great player
Highway Penguin
03-15-2005, 01:58 AM
Yeah.
Benching Becks or Zizou or Figo might push them to play better.
Solari deserves the start over them.
He's class. I'd like to see Guti more as well.

yes solari is very good, guti im not too sure, but in the games ive seen him in he makes alot of mistakes in attacking.
solari shud be able to get first team over zidane, zidane isnt playing well
unfortunately we can moan n groan about these issues, but luxemburgo and perez and sacchi wont see this. unless theres sumway to put it on their website
