Because Real smartly thought that since their main problem before this season was the CB position, they would have strengthen that department and be even better. Though, they forgot that buying names not always works and forgetting that an all attacking team does not work. They should have kept Makelele, who is not the best DM btw, and buy only one CB.

I respect your opinion that they should have kept Makelele and bought another CB and I'm sure lots of people rather than just you think that, even I think that.

But sadly we had Perez buying players for publicity although we have Sacchi now we will improve.

Real should've bought a CB AND a DM -which was the original plan- but since Vieira didn't sign, the situation turned more complicated, Real's mistake was not look for another DM after the deal with Arsenal failed. So Woodgate wasn't bought instead of DM, just for the record.....

And IB, with only one CB is not working....look at the defense now, it's very frustrating seeing how many times Samuel and Helguera makes stupid mistakes, Il Muro is one of the best in the world, and Helguera is average, but they can't play together, as simple as that.

Real should've kept Makelele, but at that time I kinda supported the move because of his attitude, but now I would decide to swallow my pride and support the rise he was asking for.

personally buying woodgate was stupid... DM was needed and we could have put someone else in that postion.

Makalele was not the best , but no doubt he was very strong in the team .

Currently , the best DM in the world is Zambrotta from Juve . Seville's Renato is improving . Gerrard , many say he is a DM , but actually he is not even the top 10 DM in the world , he is more of acentral midfield position . Xabi is more defensive oriented , that's why no problem in putting both of them at the same time .

Celades , he is just a very average player , not really defensive , which the team doesnt need him .

The problem with the team is the midfielders are very slow -Zidane , Figo , Beck , Guti , Celades and every single midfielders except Solari are slow , very slow ; they cant chase the empty space or block counter attack . For tactical purpose , we desperately need at least 2 pacey players in either DM or attacking midfield positions , then , the pain in the ass which we keep seeing wont be there anymore .

1)Zambrotta - I still believe he is the best DM in the world right now .Can play in left/right/centre .
or
2)De La Rossi -ROMa and this club has good relationship . But he can only play with left foot .
or
3)Renato-the most well rounded DM in the world right now besides Zambrotta . Renato was with Santos last season , under Luxemburgo , playing with the likes of Robinho , Diego , and Luis Gill . He can do almost what Brazil based forward can do , he can do lmost what solid European defenders can do .
or
4)Zauri-famous at lazio with Claudio Lopez . He is the same type as Zambrotta , can ply left/right/centre , and at attacking midfield position . However , he is no galactico .
5)Blasi-is Juve sub ever , has been loaned every season . Though I dont know where he is now , he is just 23 . Can play left/right/centre . However , cant play at attacking position .

Zambrotta is not a DM, De Rossi is not a real DM and he is right footed. You need some info man.

Personally I think Masherano is the best candidate, he's young and can play the Champions, his low-points are that he lacks experience in Europe and his price is too high -due to interest of many clubs, Barca, Valencia, Juve, Chelsea, among others-
