Nevertheless, it has also been said that Pele is/was a bit of a media whore...saying whatever to please people. To say that Maradona was more of a magician with the ball is to say that Pele was a wizard. If you have seen Pele's plays, even the ones where he didn't score, they were pure genius, he could make a defender and goalie think the exact opposite of what he about to do and then do it with accuracy and power.

Pele and Maradona were just 2 South American kids dreaming to become great footballers. They were both brought up in poor families, Pele used to play on the beach with coconuts, and Maradona on the streets with plastic garbage wrapped into a ball. They both had the love, passion and extreme talent, they both made it big, they both had their magical moments, they both had their ups and downs and even though they were in totally different time zones in the point of their careers, they both were role models and leaders of their national teams.

I just ahve to make something clear that I have learned after talking about this topic for a long while, this clear udnerstanding comes after Maradona himself came out in the public after his lipo suction surgery to lose weight. He said himself that Brazil is the greatest footballing nation etc... etc... but to put all that aside, I think what he really showed is that he is a guy that can change, and what is interesting is that Maradona can change his bad habits to good, but most(not being general) Maradona fans can't simply do that.
