Nottingham Forest have reached provisional agreement with the City Council over a £4.3m debt repayment.
The Reds missed a payment over the building of the Trent End stand in June, but they will now pay £1m with the rest to follow in instalments.
Chairman Nigel Doughty told the club's website: "We're happy to have finalised our agreement with the council.
"It means we do not have to alter our footballing needs and we've secured the City Ground for many decades to come."
