Hello folks,
Cisse is out for the rest of the season after breaking his Tibia in the lower leg against Blackburn. This is a massive blow after the money Liverpool payed for him and he waited a whole year to come. I wish him all the best in his recovery.
Apart from Milan Baros there isn't a rated striker left. Pongolle is still young and can't take the lead with Baros for the rest of the season. Luis Garcia and Kewell can play up front but are not natural strikers. They will have to do for the time being with the crucial CL games ahead :depressed
So should Liverpool bring in a replacement in the January transfer window? Liverpool need a world calss striker to partner Baros if they are to mount a challenge in the CL, Premiership and FA cup.
So who to get?
Morientes would be awesome and has already said he would come if given the chance. He would fit in well with his spanish compatriots.
Anyone else?

I was thinking about that earlier when I saw the Liverpool match highlights. As Morientes has said he would like to play for Liverpool, and as he seems to be playing no major role at Real, perhaps Liverpool should make an offer in the January transfer window.

Real Madrid on their website had this to say:
"In the face of certain press speculation which suggests the possibility of Fernando Morientes leaving Real Madrid, the club would like to state that the player is not for sale,"
Of course a nice transfer could change but how much would Liverpool be willing to part with to get the striker? Perhaps they could get someone on loan till the end of the season. Regardless Liverpool is in a rather difficult situation.

He is not for sale right now, but when the season ends he'll go, I don't know if to Liverpool, but for sure he'll leave.

That's true Leon.
But I will hazzard a guess that Real would be willing to transfer Morientes to Liverpool. Given Liverpool's great need for a striker, Real is in a position of advantage here. They'll just hold out and try and secure the largest transfer fee they can get.

I think he will, does anyone know when he's due back from injury?

Gerrard to be back in the lineup sometime at the end of November. Perhaps as early as Novemeber 13th against Crystal Palace. Although he believes that November 20th against 'Boro is a more realistic return date.
Pretty much everyone associated with Liverpool is probably saying the sooner the better.

Maybe they can try Louis Saha from Man Utd for half-yr loan! I know a lot of u will say they r rival and this thing can hardly happen but Arsenal has risen to be the pontential rival overtaking Liverpool. So man Utd will see less threat from Liverpool.BTW,Saha seldom plays and Man Utd will need to keep all their player happy by letting them play regularly.Loaning him out will be a good option. I believe Saha will be a success at liverpool for the half-yr!

I agree with the whole Morientes thing, but Benitez said he is looking for a good and CHEAP forward, meaning hes not looking for a new first choice striker, just someone good who can fill in until Cisse gets back.
I think they should make an offer for Ivica Olic, the CSKA striker. He is extremely fast and very skillful, although his finishing isnt the greatest i think he would suit the english game very well.

Wonder if CSKA would be willing to let him go though, especially during their CL campaign.

Perhaps Morientez could come on loan til the end of the season. Would be a good option for all if Real are not sure they want to sell.

Moro is leaving, that's almost a fact, Liverpool is an option, with Gerard there, but there are some rumours about Cassano and Roma......I don't like it.

Cisse is brilliant. Totti is a wimpy player. Cisse will heal and he'll start scoring again. Cisse will score at least 12 next year. Cisse is worth his money and will be a favourite of the supporters.

Ya.
And now with Moro and Baros I think we will have a very good front line. :)
What do you think?

Baros and Moro would make a pretty good strike team... But I don't think they're scoring right? I think Gerrard's doing more of the scoring work for the time being.

Nope, they aren't.
I think in time, after they learn how each other play, they will be able to knock them in.
They are both good strikers, so it's only a matter of time till they start scoring together.

Moro still has to get used to playing the EPL first I guess... :ronaldo:

Ya, and who knows how long that will take?
I doubt he will pull an Owen, and become a top scoreer for the club.

He came to the EPL but failed to actually make an impact... He's scored in all the clubs he's been before except Liverpool (correct me if I'm wrong :p )... That's not something common for Morientes! He might take a longer time than we expect... And yea, I highly doubt he'll pull an Owen... :D

Ha, ya, for Monaco he scored on debute I think.
Then led them to the CL and was top scorer. Pretty wild.
HOpefully he'll get into it.

Yea, hopefully he'll go that way... Liverpool needs his touch now so hopefully he gets it back soon! ;)
