View Full Version : Maybe we have too many forums?

Just a thought.
Seems to me that because there are so many forums, people only come to visit where it is only pertinent to them, thereby avoiding other interesting threads.
What's wrong with having one forum for a country where discussions about all teams can occur? Why is it necessary to have a forum for different teams within the same country's forum? Aren't they in the same league?
I only mention this because we seem to be isolating posters rather than allowing them to engage in discussion.

Maybe it's an idea... I'm new and I don't know in where topic I can start :silly:

That's one reason I posted this thread.
It seems we have so many furums, that no one knows where to begin or belong.

Must admit lads, it is quite daunting for a newbie like myself seeing all these threads, You dont know where to start & just joining in some threads is a bit rude some times.
However its not for me to tell you how to run the board, you appear to be doing great as it is.

I like the board as it is, but if is that hard for newbies to get into the board, we should work on an idea I've heard in other boards, it's called 'adopt a newbie', I think is self-explanatory.....
adopt-a-newbie sounds pretty cool Leon.

How would "adopt-a-newbie" work?
BTW, my thread was based on consolidating forums in order to stimulate more interaction between posters.

Yeh I know, but I also know that not everybody will agree with making the board smaller. (I know I don't)
And 'adopt-a-newbie' is a system in which you take a newbie, or a newbie picks you to be his/her 'master' or teacher, tells him how to post, which treads could interest him/her, introduces to other members, defend him/her when someone mess with him/her, to sum up, the oldest, settled members help newbies to get settled in the board.
This is actually a good idea, I didn't knew it was so hard for newbies to adapt to the board, maybe that's why we have so many 'one-post members'.....

I think it is easy to adapt to the board if you support a team. When I first joined I only posted in the Inter forum, before gradually moving outwards. But I appreciate that there are some neutral fans here and I can see the problem that they face. But remember this, it is not rude at all just to join in a thread, nobody will mind, we are all friendly  .
Anyway, adopting a newbie sounds like a good way around this problem.

I reckon we should junk the whole Slovenian soccer thing ,because the only reason people go on it is to ask if thet can close it down ,and maybe have a few major clubs in all the other soccer (i.e England:Arsenal ,Chelsea Man U ,Italy :Ac ,Juve Inter Roma ), and instead of having clubs that people don't go on i.e Aston Villa ,we can do General English Soccer ,or General Italian soccer covering all the other clubs we haven't covered .And maybe we should start to think about getting rid of Euro 2004 thread because Euro 2004 ended aged ago .

It looks great.
I have a question though. This forum already exists but I'm a little confused with the title. What does "Off category soccer" mean?
Also, there are forums that have been open for a while now (years) that only have a few threads in them. They can probably be closed or combined with others.

Off category soccer means everything soccer-related but it's not fit in any other forums.
And the inactive forums will be compressed or combined with others.
Your ideas are great. We are in the process of cleaning everything up now as we speak. First the supermoderators are to be instated (next few days), followed by moderator and forum changes.

i think we should get rid of mosrt innactive forums. or maybe give the albanians a forum, they are being quite a bother in the greek section.

The albanians will get their own forum, and a re-organization of the board is being planned. Expect the changes soon.
