Well, we need time to attract members again and I am sure at least 1 member is signing up everyday but they are not regular, we need to keep improving the forum so that people will be convinced to join this forum

Personally, I think that many posts lack substance, while others are filled with hatred.
Don't get me wrong, there are great posts and poster on this board, however, it seems that there is an "anything-goes" attitude that is prevalent. Some Mods are great examples, while others are just as bad as the rest.

thats eaxctly what i think eseguy, the mods are here to set an example, only some set the wrong one......
and some users think this is say whatever u want foruim, well we have rules and they have to be followed
for example in the WC forum theres ia cosntant arguement between gaucho and rafa... gaucho says were just playing, but thats not the point. the point is they are using deflamatory language with racial comments and offensive words.... this is simply not allowed. and anyone who doesnt like the rules, is always free to leave

You're right, I'm not against having fun. But, when most people go looking for a soccer forum, they're probably looking to engage in a serious conversation or even argument. Derrogatory comments will turn people away.
If you have a forum though that is "off-topic" and has nothing to do with soccer per se, and allows foul language, nudity, etc. Maybe only a forum that is visible to members only, so that we do not discourage potential members form joining.

Yes, you are right.
When I look at the off-category football, there are some threads about who is better and all, but when I see the replies, what they give are simply 1 sentence answers which does not include a reason ground with which to support his claim.
I think everyone should be more constructive with their posts, be it a mod, a super mod or a normal user, we must set examples for others to follow. And for those who stir up racists conversations and insults, they should be immediately banned.

I think we mods are setting a good example, maybe a couple aren't, but in general we make a good job, some of us like to throw jokes more often than others, but when it comes to serious issues we make serious posts as well.
About the off category thing Darran, I'm trying to live up that forum (maybe not hard enough though), because it's one of the most importants on the board, but I'll need the support of the most active members as well from the mods, let's have a good discussion there and eventually more members will join the discussion, let's get out from the club's forums for a while and also discuss in other forums.

Another thing that makes it difficult is that this truly is an international forum.
With that, we definately have different points of views on many things. Our differing cultures state things differently, causing confusion for others. What is funny in one society, may not be funny in another.
Also the language in this forum is predominantly English. Not everyone in the world speaks English. So we all need to be sensitive and appreciative towards those who make the effort.

So what's your point?? The fact that here are many different cultures makes more interesting the discussions, because everyone has very different points of view.
About the language I agree, we should implement a translation feature (there was one in the past), also there are people that mock about other's english, there's no need to say that's wrong, everybody knows that.

Yes, it is more interesting.
But there have been times where I didn't understand what another poster meant or vice-versa and it seemed to create friction because the statement was taken the wrong way.
All I am saying is that it is not necessary to always become defensive.

Well if you say 'sorry man didn't understood what you've said' is fine, but if you say 'hey dude first learn to speak english and then try to post again' is a very different story. (I'm not saying you said something like that)

lsgworldl, you are not setting a good example to the rest of the members.
Think about it, we the mods have been here for years, and we don't leave the forum just because of the post count, what you can do right now is to keep creating constructive post which will give other members the incentive to express their views.
But if you just give up like that, then there is no hope for the forum. If every moderator is thinking in the same direction as you, what would happen to SFN, it would not even survive. We as moderators should live an example to the rest.

You're right, and I understand what you're saying. But the reality is that not many posters take the time to be cordial.
Back to the main point, we need to focus on making this site popular with soccer fans. But what should we do?

Keep posting, that's the only way, eventually more members will join. :)
I think the biggest thing is clearing trashy threads from the boards. Making them more meaningful will get more people posting.

No need to delete any treads, just join interesting discussions, that way the posts will be more meaningful.
