Do you use it, do you even know what it is, I find it extremley usefull, you can turn whatever you want off when you boot, for example you have aim and you dont want it to boot when you boot, go to run type in msconfig, and then turn off aim, or turn of every program that boots when you boot up

all the prigrams are not needed when windows boots up, plus you can turn of some spyare there as well, instead of just removing it with spyware removers, so if you install the spyware again it wont even run :p

Download msconfig here: msconfig http://www.perfectdrivers.com/local/msconfig.exe (For Windows 95. Older 98 version.)

Download msconfig here: msconfig http://www.perfectdrivers.com/local/msconfigxp/msconfig.exe (For Windows 2000. Newer XP version.)

Some msconfig facts:

-msconfig was included in some versions of Windows 95.

-msconfig was in Windows 98 and 98se.

-msconfig was not included in NT nor Windows 2000.

-msconfig is included in ME and XP.

-You can copy (or download) msconfig and put it in Windows 95 if it's not already there. Copy it into the \windows\system folder.

-You can add msconfig to Windows 2000. Put it in the c:\winnt\system32\ (c:\winnt\ works also) folder.

* This assumes that c: drive is where Windows 2000 was installed to.

* The default folder that Windows 2000 installs to is winnt. If the defaults were changed, yours might be different.

To run msconfig, hit start, run, and type in msconfig. Notice the startup tab. Here you can turn off and on those pesky resource hogging applications that run when you boot up your computer.

Note: msconfig doesn't have to be put into any folder to run. It can be run from a floppy or put on the desktop and clicked on. Putting it in the correct folder permits you to hit Start > Run to launch it.

Of course, it's a useful tool, is incredible how much garbage can be accumulated in your pc, you have to clean it periodically, and not only the startup, but the registry and get rid of spyware/adware.

However it is a very basic tool, there are others more accurate and useful to get rid of trash applications running when you boot, but this one's still very useful, and very easy to use for non-experts.
