Brian McBride may miss the U.S. World Cup Qualifier on Oct. 11, depending on doctors' assessment of his condition. Sporting Lisbon's Jovan Kirovski warmed the bench in Lisbon's Portugese First Division 2-0 win over bottom feeders Gil Vicente. Lisbon lost 3-1 to Spartak Moscow in a Champions League Group A match Wednesday. The club is in last place in the group with one point from three matches.
HOLLAND
NAC Breda is tied for first in the Dutch Eredivisie after dispatching Willem II 2-0 last week. Earnest Stewart played the entire match for Breda, back on the pitch after an injury. Vitesse Arnhem leads the league.
FRANCE
David Regis was a second-half subsitute for Metz who was defeated by Monaco 3-1. Monaco and Metz are level on points, with 14, but Monaco is ahead on goal differential. Metz is seventh, only three points behind league leaders Paris St. Germain.

Three games into the Primera Liga season, it looks like Rayo Vallecano is not missing goalkeeper Kasey Keller. The American is still sidelined with a broken finger but Rayo is seventh on five points, five behind league leaders Celta Vigo. Rayo drew 2-2 with Osasuna this week. Rayo have drawn Viborg of Denmark in the Second Round of the UEFA Cup.
