England midfielder Shaun Wright-Phillips has no idea whether he will replace the suspended and injured David Beckham in Azerbaijan on Wednesday.
"I have not thought about it," said Wright-Phillips. "The gaffer picks the team at the end of the day and I'm just going to work hard in training.
"To play in a competitive match would be like a dream for me. I have got my fingers crossed.
"I like to think I can do a job at international level."
The Manchester City winger, who scored on his only England appearance in the August friendly against Ukraine, said that breaking into the team is hard because of the quality of players already in the side.
Beckham faces lay-off
"All of them are of a high standard and deserve to be where they are," he added.
"The players give me confidence and help me. Even if someone is not on the bench the players keep them very involved."
And the 22-year-old expects a victory against Azerbaijan on Wednesday.
"Everybody's confidence is sky high. We are thinking of three points and staying top of the group," he stated.
England 2-0 Wales
Wright-Phillips also felt that the three-pronged strikeforce of Michael Owen, Jermain Defoe and Wayne Rooney was a success against Wales and would work again.
He said: "The manager has three great strikers. He had them in the team to create chances and that is what they did.
"If we played that way again I think it would get us a load of chances and hopefully a load of goals."
