whether or not this gets read i truly believe that the US will have a much better showing in 2002 (well it cant get worse than 98) but on a serious not. The US has made leaps and bonds since 98 we have beaten defending euro champs 2 chile twice ( once again sorry farid) and we have beaten argentina. And not to mention that we have probally the 2 best youth players in the world in landon donovan and demarcus beasley who are both going to shine in 2002 and whether you people want to admot it mls is getting better the league has made changes and now we have a respectful league. whether we can compete with the big teams in europe i dont know but i wont say we can but i wont say we cant either and not to mention more and more americans are being signed by good european teams such as max moore reyna o brien and landon who is only 17 and playin for bayern leverkusen and has a 1st team spot so i say that in 2002 the US will make a huge impact in what ends up happening

And also that 3-0 win, I think it was, against the Germans! The U.S.A. has improved dramatically after the World Cup. They are playing more as a team. I think that in 2002, the USA will perform much better in the World Cup, and by 2010, they will be one of the top 30 teams in the world, or maybe even better. I'm living in the USA, and I want them to improve.

The U.S. will always stay a low class team.

US national team, urm...well, it's a good team but not good enough to make an impact, at least in the next couple years. no more to say.

About MLS... it's way out of competition, if you compare it with European Clubs. Simple fact, one of my all time favorite players (Hristo Stoichkov) went to Fire and started scoring, in Europe, he barly scored one goal, but oh well...he's old. Think of it this way though, if you are a player, where would you like to go and play ? stay in US and play or go to Europe and play, and of course you'll choose Europe, unless something is wrong with you. It'll take a lot of money to make MLS good and I just don't see how that will happen, espeacially in US.

Now don't get me wrong, I like the MLS and I've gone to a couple fire matches, but MLS getting big, not possible.

Yes it's true the US will do better than in 98, but only because they CAN'T do any worse, like you already said.

They will never become a power in football, because the people don't care about it. I remember seeing a stat one time that ranked football as the 63rd most popular sport in USA. Things like billiards, and darts were ahead of football!!

Football is more than a game, it's also a culture, and unless it's in your blood, you'll never be competitive, except for the odd fluke. As for the young guys, I doubt that they're the best in the world. In fact I know they're not because I think of at least two players who everyone will agree are better: Van Nistelrooj and Ronaldinho. There's more but why name them.

One last thing, the MLS sucks and it always will. It has also improved but only because you can only go up when you're as low as they were. :D

About two most talented young players in the world as u said lilphenom: donovan, beasley..every football power in Europe has at least two most talented young players in the world: yugoslav Stankovich, spain Xavi, dutch Nistelroj, england Owen....

Acimovic is Red Star Belgrade. He scored that superb goal from 50 m to Shovkovsky! Can any of yours do that :D And we won, WON, WE ARE ON EURO!

Landon Donovan plays for Bayern Leverkusen and DaMarcus Beasley plays for the chicago fire but as for beasley the majority of those players that were mentioned play in there countries league

landon danovan good player yes...but... players around the world that go to europe end up there cus they shined in there country..so my point is the landon donovan didnt shine in mls why cus he was taken to Germany to play with bayern laverkussens youth team or reseves how ever u wanna see it but my point is that he didnt earn his way to germany. think about it what player goes to europe at 17 without any experience as far as proffesionalism is conserned. Maradon started pro at 15 and he didnt start in Italy...first he shined in argentina before going to italy so my point with donovan is like i say before the americans pay eurpean teams to keep there players and train them and improve them. donovan didnt earn a spot in laverkussen he didnt go to germany cus of his own merits and shining in his league. but money talks.
