k.. dunno but the MLS seems kinda screwed up.

MLS has Central, Western, Eastern divisions just like in Baseball, American Football, Basketball, etc. WHY ? why not have a simple league like the rest of the world, I been always wondering about that.

Another thing that pisses me off is the EXTRA TIME after matches, urm.. in the league if the result is a tie after the first 90min. ! there are 10 extra time minutes added.. why the f!ck does this have to be, it ain't hockey or baketball.. its SOCCER god damnit, not some retarted sport.

And the MLS has some stupid point stats... a player gets points for scores goals, making assits, CHALLENGES, etc... WHO CARES about those points.. it's so off and really its stuff that does not matter AT ALL !

If the MLS is never made like the Rest of the world leagues... it will never gain big populartiy, 'cause simply it is too complicated. It took me years to figure out all the stuff and how it all works. An outside fan will not even try to understand this league.

oh well.. here hare my good feelings about the MLS :)

Haha, well said.
Couple of nights ago I was watching the Dallas-Galaxy game and they showd something like one point for assists and two for goal.
Haahahahaah, pretty stupid.

I think the creators of the MLS went wrong when they chose to base the MLS on domestic baseball and hockey leagues, rather than foreign football (soccer leagues. I think the reason they did this was so that the common American, who knows nothing of soccer, can pick up the newspaper and draw a parallel between their favorite sport and the MLS. They were trying to think of the best ways to ignite a new fan base for soccer in the US. Any soccer fan can see their are major flaws in the structure of the MLS, but we must understand that the MLS can't rely on the market of pure soccer fans. They must attack as many new fans as possible if they want to grow. Overall, the MLS is still in its infancy, sure there are problems, but by the time I am an old man soccer will hopefully be called football in the US and the MLS will be a coveted place to play.

I meant attract as many new fans...

attacking them probably wouldn't help

ok i am american so i am gonna defend it and critize it 1st of all ya i am not a hige fan of extra time but at least it god rid of the shoot out. As for the way it is setup it has its strength and weaknesses but having a point system is not bad 1 for an assist and 2 for a goals whats so bad about that it gives playmakers a chance as for the talent level you cant say its not getting better beccause more and more mls players are being snathed up by the european clubs just give it some time it will fix itself trust me !!!!

The MLS needs to do something to gain attendance. People will definately come to see soccer in the US, the World Cup proved that. Also, here in Chicago when Argentina played Mexico in a friendly last year they had 50,000 people. The MLS should play games only on Saturdays and have double headers. If the woman's league starts up, you could have a woman's game in the afternoon around 5 and then start the MLS game at 7. They could also schedule international friendlies like having Mexican teams or other international teams that have an ethnic base in a particular city. When I went to see the Fire and Kansas City game, they also had the Mexico-Ireland game. They had over 30,000 people and the weather was total crap.
Also, instead of chasing foreign players who should be in nursing homes like Matthaus and Stoichkov(no offense Zola, but he has been injured most of the season) they should get good lower caliber Europeans who are younger or middle aged.

I was watching the DC/Dallas game, and thinking back to the first season. Yea, MLS is not like watching any of the major leagues in the world, but looking at the difference in just five years is actually quite amazing. Those of you who saw that awful first year (though it was great to have soccer here), know what I am talking about. I doubt any other league has progressed so far in such a short time. As for foreign players, I agree with Black Hand. We need to pull in some of the First & Second Division players instead of old worn out names. Who gives a rats ass if Lothar comes? Not me. I am really interested in this new player from Spain, who came up in Real Madrid's system. Jose Luis Morales, a striker. Those are the kind of players we should be drawing in. We sure as hell can't bring in a Beckham, Rivaldo, Zidane, etc. The money and interest are not there yet. Maybe someday, but that is a ways away.

Jose Luis Morales
Born 8/2/73 in Madrid, Spain
Height: 5'9", Weight: 165 lbs.
Last Clubs: Salamanca, Numancia, Logroņes, Mallorca, Sporting Gijon, Real Madrid

* Scored goal on bicycle kick against Deportivo "La Coruņa" in first appearance for Real Madrid.
* One of top scorers in Spain's Second Division in 1995-96 with 15 goals in 24 games for Mallorca.
* Member of Spain's U21 National Team
* Product of Real Madrid's youth system

Zola no offense but can you read!!!! we have already agreed on that. did you not read what mirkwood said??? there is now way in just 5 seasons that a league can be world class , but like mirkwood said in 5 years the league has made huge strides and not to mention the national team is much stronger and has much more depth than it has ever had look i dont wanna start anthing but it seems like anythng the US does that is somewhat negative is magnified by 10 times ya 98 was a total total diaster , but this team and that team are like day and night we have a new coach new system. everything i am not saying that mls is the best league in the world but just give it time its like the world thinks we are crap but they still expect good results. see when we beat like germany or argentina no one careb but if we loose to some one nothing but negative crap is said so just lay off and give us time !!!!!!!!
